Klaus-Dieter Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 I totally agree with you which conerns a new fast food restaurant! But I would prefer it to be unlicensed (cheaper!) and being a big building with a decent interior and many minifigs and accessory. If Lego releases the Truck Stop as this year's TRU City fan's choice set, it would have been plausible that a fast food restaurant was included. But it'll be City Public Transport and so there'll be no fast food restaurant. But maybe TLG releases a truck stop as a regular or exclusive set in the next year - together with a fast food restaurant. Apart from that a fast food restaurant can imo be released on its own, too. And I even agree on a new City minifigure collection. There are some new torsos for the City theme coming out this year which could and should be included in a City minifigure collection like last year's one (maximum for ten Euros). Besides I'd so much like to get a redesign of following set:  And I hope that we'll get a regular sized (non-Smart) civilian car with roof and car doors and a female minifig, soon. keetong Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I personally feel that there are many opportunities still to be explored. Most city sets are vehicles which kinda of gets repetitive, yes it is all right to a certain extent. It just gets to flooded sometimes. City really does lack in the buildings development of a city, yes I realise we have the great and wonderful modular sets, but there are still some people who don't wish to empty their pockets for such a sum. Post offices, schools, shopping centers are all parts of our daily life, yet we see TLG are reluctant to explore such areas. We see sets like the minifigure collection set that are the building blocks of cities only seem to have a life away from it. I love the idea of the camping you guys have brought up it really brings images of possible MOCs to my head, though will probably never be built because lack of bricks A brown bear sounds awesome, another reason for TLG to bring back the model for the polar bear. Anyway on a full note I can't wait to see what occurs... Hopefully its not a disappointment. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I feel that the only sets to come will be ones Lego think.....remember THINK what kids want to build and play with. Hence we got construction site and garage last year - why ? boys like trucks, heavy machines and fixing them too. Sadly a school would not interest them - a truck stop, sporting goods store, hardware store - these might work - why ? yep, boys again. Lego still is trying to come to terms with the fact that girls also love Lego City sets and heck, girls shop in sporting goods stores, some drive trucks and own & run hardware stores too (like Kelly in Handy Manny) ! Maybe Lego needs to open up a bit more to the real world, then we'll see more building sets come out. I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) I think we're much more likely to see this in a future Wave of the Collectible Minifigs, but it's got to be a matter of time before Lego gives us some rock stars!! Some figs with crazy hair, some crazy torso prints, and most importantly, guitars!! Who doesn't want Lego guitars?? Bringing this back to this thread, I could definitely see an amazing 'rock concert' set with a small stage, a drum set, a four piece rock band complete with mic stands and maybe even some big blocks as speakers on either side. Throw in a few of those bars/fences like in the Pig Farm across the front and you've got yourself a show for all of your figs. Finally, Lego would officially ROCK! Minifig Lecturer Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 A small parking-meter set would be nice, something you could place on the foothpaths of your LEGO road baseplates. Quote
sologuy369 Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I was thinking of a lego school. With a ... Bus stop 24.99USD 3 minifigs(driver, jock, bully) locker 3.49USD locker with books and that, student teacher's desk 9.99 teacher, student, desk with computer, apple and more office 49.99 1 student, 1 teacher, 1 prineapal, 2 office workers and 1 nurse Rooms: main room, nurses', copy room, detention room and meeting room/teacher's lounge What do you think? Lilsniffs Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 A school subtheme sounds pretty cool. A bank being robbed as part of the police subtheme would be kinda cool. Also, a theme park would be epic. I can picture it now.... Theme Park Cost: Hopefully not too high Minifigs: Father, Son, Mother, Daughter, Ride Attendant x4, a mascot of some sort, adrenaline junky, teens x3 Rides: Rollercoaster with a nice queue with nice decals Bumper Cars Food Stand Log Ride Quote

jonwil Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I agree with the bank idea, perhaps a Bank (or a Post Office) or both could be done as a Modular set... Quote
sologuy369 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) I agree with the bank idea, perhaps a Bank (or a Post Office) or both could be done as a Modular set... IMO If TLC was going to do a post offfice a year or so ago while the mail van set was here. Other than that, I like the idea of the post office and the robbed bank. I was thinking of a broadcast station for a modular set. With a radio booth, small TV show studio .... Edit: I am going to mail in some ideas to TLC so if you want to be heard for sure post your idea within the next few days. Don't worry, I say the ideas are from EB!!! Klaus-Dieter Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Here is a new idea for a set which would mainly appeal to JFOLs - but I'm sure of course many of us AFOLs would like it, too since it includes a lot of new stuff TLG hasn't been releasing until now: Red Cross Emergency Commitment Team (30-40 Euros) (for rescueing people in territories where there has been e. g. an earthquake) a red cross tool and gear waggon and a red cross pick-up with winch including a red cross emergency tent, a stretcher, a cage with dog, medical equipment, some boxes, an oil lamp, two grey suitcases, a water filter, a shovel, two mobile phones, a mobile floodlight and tools minifigs: two red cross aidmen with helmets, a red cross aid woman and an injured person What do you think? Rapseflaps Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Another one of these, only less professionals and more civilians, please. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Another one of these, only less professionals and more civilians, please. I totally agree with you, Rapseflaps! Since TLG is releasing that many huge vehicles this year but with regrettably a much, much too small number of minifigs included, a new, big minifigure pack is really needed! But it should (like you already mentioned) be focused on civilians and not on emergency/police/fire minifigs. I would be even content with a small new minifig collection - like e. g. the one from 2009 - but then with only civilians included. And please not with the torsos that did appear in sets already for thousand times (like the black suit with cravat, the blue checked shirt, the white shirt with blue coat, the red coat with space emblem and the red pullover with blue arms) - but the hawaii shirt, the green pullover, the white-blue hoodie and the two new female shirts. LegolasAzazel Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 i think were long overdue a Hospital set, i mean we have pretty much every other building... Personally i think we really need to model lego city sets to cover more areas, i mean for one we need a new hosptial design, you also need like an office block, even more so we need apartments... Yes, please to a new hospital - goodness the last one was so CRAP ! A garden centre would be interesting - might be popular with girls, but also boys to some degree. What about a supermarket as well, they have done a Duplo one, it's time for City to get theirs. I'm a conformist! ! Edited May 16, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
Justin Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 (edited) If LEGO can make anther promotional set for Shell, I think they should make a ranch-style Shell service station with chimney featuring three garage bays, a snack shop, and some gas pumps with a red and yellow overhead canopy. It would also include a sign displaying the gas prices, as well as two cars and a tow truck, two attendant minifigures and two civilian minifigures. Other features would include a payphone and an ATM machine. It would be available for purchase at all North American Shell locations for $79.99, or for free with the purchase of a few gallons of Shell V-Power. Edited May 30, 2010 by Justin Quote
BobaFett2 Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Hmm, a lot of things: I think some more buildings would be nice, but more like Town Jr. so that they don't cost way too much. Eg: A mini fire station or a small police station for those who can't afford the big ones. Some more restaurants other than pizza would be nice (how about pasta?) A beach scene Replacement of Police, Fire, and a few other themes with new short categories of sets for about 2 years, allowing there to be variety. Examples would be such as: Ice Cream Parlors, Beach, Mall Shops, Street Stands, Kiosks, etc... These would be awesome. But what would really rock would be if it were all 10% cheaper. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Even if it is like TownJr, it would be up to us AFOL's to un-TownJr it ! But would Lego do another deal with Shell ? But how about an IGA grocery store, it's a global brand and we have all sort of asked for a supermarket haven't we ? It could be possible since a deal must have been struck with TRU for their own truck ! Hardware or coffee shop or automotive dealership chains might be good too ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote

Rijkvv Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Yea the Town Jr idea would mostly benefit us teen fans of LEGO. You're serious? I really can't imagine how these big pieces are useful in any way. Look at the Town jr sets: they lack details, are way too easy to build and they don't really sell. I respect your opinion, but I'm glad TLG stopped producing those sets. Quote

Yes, I know, they benefit people in a different way. At least they are cheaper than nowadays...I can't buy anything without selling tons of things, so I'll never really get a big city until I get a job. If they had Town Jr. Sized sets, it would allow people like me who are still too young to have a job but at that age where you start getting big LEGO visions and ideas. Mostly, that part was a little selfish thought of mine :). Quote

If TLG releases 7848 as a truck stop, then we surely won't get a gas station before 2011. 2. I highly doubt that TLG will release promos as City sets. They stopped the Shell promotion about ten years ago. Now everything which has to do with fuel and oil gets the Octan sticker on it. Yes, I know, they benefit people in a different way. At least they are cheaper than nowadays...I can't buy anything without selling tons of things, so I'll never really get a big city until I get a job. Mostly, that part was a little selfish thought of mine :). I know your problem very well from when I was a child, BobaFett2. But Town Junior were really bad desgined sets and even did not fit in style, size, minifigs and vehicles with the regular City sets. I'm not that sure about the prices but I bet that nowadays these sets would be as expensive as the regular City sets, too. An advice: Save your money and then buy either 7641 (about 50 Euros) or 8403 (about 40 Euros). The price ratio performance is imo really ok and you can afford at least one of these sets when you save your money for some time. Plus these sets are absolutely amazing and include minimum one building and minimum three minifigs. So you have a lot of playability and get even minimum one house. Here are two (partly) new ideas for sets TLG already designed - but which should appear in the City theme, too, and which I really would like to see TLG releasing: Pick-up With Trailer With Quadbike pick-up with winch, trailer and quadbike inlcuding a mobile phone, a shovel, a rucksack, a black helmet and a pick-axe minifig: driver Bank Robbery bank (first floor: counter area with strongroom, second floor: office, third floor: bed room), a security transporter and a police tank including two grey suitcases, two pistols, two machinepistols, some jewels, some gold pieces and some billets minifigs: banker, civilian, bank robber, security officer and two SWAT men Your opinion? BobaFett2 Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Well, I want to buy City sets but I'm selling over 5K of yugioh cards and the estimated profit in over 1000 dollars because of it's current market value. So I'm planning on getting the Police Station because the set is really amazing and some older sets like the Airport on Bricklink. Quote
