Island boy Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 I am looking for people who are loyal to the Islander cause. Will anyone who supports Lego islanders please reply to this post.
BearHeart Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 I'd love to see Islanders come back as part of a new pirate theme. I dont have a single islanders set (I wasn't buying LEGO when they came out) but I always liked that subtheme and would definitely buy it this time around
oo7 Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 You and your friend Kahuka have made several of these "Hey, let's talk about Islanders!" topics in the past. I am unaware of what you mean by 'making a comeback' because we're 'loyal to the Islander cause'; We all like the Pirate line and the little cute Islanders that go with it! There's nothing left to discuss!! We've voted for our favorite factions and on our favoritism of islanders specifically, we've voted on our favorite Islander minifig, we've voted on our favorite Islander set, we've purged every last Brickshelf folder and gathered every last Islander MOC and posted them in your topics, we've posted links to provide possible inspiration for Islander MOCs, and in your absence we created an Islander Index thread!!! What else do you want?!?! :S Now the real question is: If you two are so feakin obsessed with Islanders why not photograph a MOC of yours so we could have something new to discuss? ;-) Really, you did ask nicely, and I do respect that, but I really don't see any apparent dignity in this topic so far. To make a successful thread, there needs to be focus. You sir, need to find better focus.
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 23, 2007 Governor Posted May 23, 2007 We'll probably have to find focus for them Mr Oo7. Island Boy, I notice you haven't replied to Miss Aredhel's Islanders' village... Thread or the Islander fortress thread. Now, if I were a hardcore Islander fan the first thing I'd do is scour through the images linked to those threads and discuss the MOCs with their creators. So rather than asking who supports Islanders for the umpteenth time, you should go looking for those who obviously do.
oo7 Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 We'll probably have to find focus for them Mr Oo7. Nah, we've already done that too many times for him and his friend. I think Mr. Island Boy needs to learn for himself, or this topic should be locked. If he fails to learn as time goes on and if he makes more of these, they will be locked and he should the recieve instructeion on these topic-making skills in a dark, secluded place.
hans-thegreat Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Hey, don't be so hard on him, he's a newbie. Did 007 create that signature because he couldn't think of a witty saying? ;-)
El Bucanero Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Hey, don't be so hard on him, he's a newbie. Island Boy joined long before you Mr Hans, besides, Kahuka and Island boy already created some topics about this... And I think oo7 is 100% right. We always try to avoid being harsh offcourse but if it needs to bee brought on a way wich seems a bit harsh, then so be it. I don't think he was so harsh after all... Anyway, I'm not trying to be harsh in this post, and if I had said this in real life, it would be on a friendly tone. ;-) Mr Tiber
hans-thegreat Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Yes I know he's older, but I've posted more. I guess I like pirates more....
KAHUKA Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 You and your friend Kahuka have made several of these "Hey, let's talk about Islanders!" topics in the past. To make a successful thread, there needs to be focus. You sir, need to find better focus. Could you even be more of a jerk. You should be nice to other members ,and another thing watch your langauge my friend's mother will not let him be on the site anymore. :-O :-O :-O :-O >:-( >:-( *n* *n* *n* Hey, don't be so hard on him, he's a newbie.Did 007 create that signature because he couldn't think of a witty saying? ;-) Thank you hans that is very much appreciated. :) :) :)
Scouty Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 [nice tone]Ok, I hate to come on down like this. 1st, don't use more than three emoticons. 2nd, Mr. oo7 is not being a 'jerk'. He's trying to be as nice as possible. 3rd, what language? There is no bad language in that post. 4th, but not least, I find those who call others 'jerks' will often find themselves being a 'jerk' for calling another one a 'jerk'.[/nice tone] :capn: On topic: I'd rather see actual Pirates come out before Islanders do, but there is some potential for new Islanders...I think.
hans-thegreat Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 You guys are MEAN!!! :'-( And why does everyone call each other MR.? (surely you realize that there are more kids than adults in this forum, right?) I mean, just look at their profiles. Oh, and thank you KAHUKA, I like it when I'm appreciated.
Scouty Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Because, we're being polite, Mr. hans-thegreat. We're not trying to be mean, also.
ZCerberus Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 For me, I think Mr. oo7's tone did seem a bit harsh, but at the same time we don't need spam on the forum either. We can always just ignore a topic we don't like, but at the same time, it is a bit annoying. I think Mr. Phes had the right idea. If Islanderboy wants to support the islander cause, he should post in some of the already excellent islander MOC threads to encourage that discussion! I also agree with Scout, we should see some pirates before more islanders. I would support the islander cause if it meant pirates were on the come back trail!
oo7 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Did 007 create that signature because he couldn't think of a witty saying? ;-) Ah, but it is a witty saying! It's probably one of the wittiest of witty sayings out there! Island Boy joined long before you Mr Hans, besides, Kahuka and Island boy already created some topics about this... And I think oo7 is 100% right. We always try to avoid being harsh offcourse but if it needs to be brought on a way which seems a bit harsh, then so be it. I don't think he was so harsh after all...Anyway, I'm not trying to be harsh in this post, and if I had said this in real life, it would be on a friendly tone. ;-) Mr Tiber Yes, I think you are 100% correct. :-P Could you even be more of a jerk. You should be nice to other members ,and another thing watch your langauge my friend's mother will not let him be on the site anymore. :-O :-O :-O :-O >:-( >:-( *n* *n* *n* 1. Yes, I could have made that post much more aggressive if I wanted to, if that's what you're asking ;-) 2. I did use a serious tone but it was not in the least cruel. I did not use multiple furious looking, shouting emotions in my post. I used a wink and a confused face. I was encouraging positive progress through peaceful recommendations and some constructive criticism. Informing Mr. Island Boy that he needs better focus for a successful topic is certainly not being mean. :) 3. The term 'freakin' is a harmless and perfectly acceptable euphemistic adjective (personally I thinks it's slightly humorous in addition) [nice tone]Ok, I hate to come on down like this.1st, don't use more than three emoticons. 2nd, Mr. oo7 is not being a 'jerk'. He's trying to be as nice as possible. 3rd, what language? Nicely handled, Commander Scouts. I should try that BBcode variant sometime. :-P Your 'jerk' analysis is, unfortunately, indeed very true. Spelling and the quality of one's writing is a key part of common etiquette and subliminal factor of one's rudeness (pertaining to a certain action). For me, I think Mr. oo7's tone did seem a bit harsh, but at the same time we don't need spam on the forum either. We can always just ignore a topic we don't like, but at the same time, it is a bit annoying. I think Mr. Phes had the right idea. I also agree with Scout, we should see some pirates before more islanders. I would support the islander cause if it meant pirates were on the come back trail! Yes, the tone does seem maybe a bit to serious at some points, but the message does not seem so to me. I did not criticize Mr. Island Boy for what he has done, but recommended him to do better in the future. I see no problem in that. The two should contribute to Aredhel's and Bonaparte's threads like Mr. Phes pointed out, and/or post their own creation like I suggested. *y* Now; this discussion is going nowhere, fast. I suggest that Mr. Island boy should find a good use for this topic with a productive central focus. Until then, I shall, with all due respect, refrain from any further discussion. :) Sincerely, Nathan
Scouty Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Nicely handled, Commander Scouts. I should try that BBcode variant sometime. I find that green colored text has a nicer tone than black text X-D . But alas! We have gotten off-topic here!
Starwars4J Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 And why does everyone call each other MR.? (surely you realize that there are more kids than adults in this forum, right?)I mean, just look at their profiles. Actually it's most likely imitation of our friendly Pirate Admin who started with the habit of calling everyone "mister", in the same vain as his own username ;-) As for oo7, I think he was being unnecessarily harsh. While I can understand if you're "fed up" with things, there is certainly a nicer way to go about saying it. Maybe take a look at the Please be nice thread in community, which I feel serves here well. If you're upset about something, maybe try explaining it calmly, instead of a bunch of angry faces and aggressive words. You may have been completely right in what you said, but wrong in the way you said it, ya know? And since there was nothing rule-breaking about this thread...if an admin feels it needs to be closed, it will be. No need to go around back-seat moderating :-P Now as for what is to become of this I feel that this is just becoming a flame war and will close it. Mister Phes may want to reopen it later, and that's fine, but for now I think everyone needs to cool down and stop being so aggressive and taking things so seriously. If you have a personal problem try taking it up over PM maybe? If a problem is big enough, it will be taken care of, I promise :-)
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 24, 2007 Governor Posted May 24, 2007 Actually it's most likely imitation of our friendly Pirate Admin who started with the habit of calling everyone "mister", in the same vain as his own username ;-) Yes, when addressing another crew mate you refer to them by their title. Now as for what is to become of this I feel that this is just becoming a flame war and will close it. Mister Phes may want to reopen it later, and that's fine, but for now I think everyone needs to cool down and stop being so aggressive and taking things so seriously. If you have a personal problem try taking it up over PM maybe? If a problem is big enough, it will be taken care of, I promise :-) You've done the right thing Mr Starwars4J. This thread was off to a bad start and its only went down hill, so I won't reopen it. As for oo7, I think he was being unnecessarily harsh. While I can understand if you're "fed up" with things, there is certainly a nicer way to go about saying it. You may have been completely right in what you said, but wrong in the way you said it, ya know? I mentioned this to Oo7 earlier but I shall reiterate it again to everyone: if you don't like the topic then don't post in it! There are plenty of other threads in the pirate you can respond to, but if you feel the discussion in a particular thread is inappropriate then contact an administrator or moderator. Its hard convey tonality in written form so things can easily be misinterpreted, and come across harsher than they're intended to be. Having said that, it would be appreciated if users took consideration when creating threads. We must accept that occassionaly we'll see old topics in new threads, however its not appropriate when a particular user continually creates threads that have almost the same topic. and... Could you even be more of a jerk. You should be nice to other members ,and another thing watch your langauge my friend's mother will not let him be on the site anymore. :-O :-O :-O :-O >:-( >:-( *n* *n* *n* Name calling and excessive smiley usage is never appropriate.
