Exa Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Hey BrickBuff, I see you great layout. I plan to stay on a single level for now. Perhaps later, I will do some major change but firt goal is to create my city with Creator house and some modulars. WTB, I have a question about track spacing. Is it safe to use 4 stunds between tracks ? Going from 8 to 4 stunds allow more space Inside the inner track. I do some tries, without any issue but I need some feedback. :) Quote
Steph 104th Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi, on my layout I'm currently working on I have gap of 6 if you are counting from the rail and 4 if you are counting from the sleeper. Quote
Exa Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Thank you Steph 104th ! I change my layout from this with standard spacing : To this one with track spacing reduced from 8 stud to 4 stud : It just works fine. I got any issue with my two trains running. Quote
Legononymous Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Anything you could use ( aside from tape ) that would help fill in the gap? I know it's not a gap but the two separate tracks with their back ends during lower then their fronts but I'm at a loss how to explain it. Ha! I wonder if hot glue would work without messing up the track or having to modify the track a little. Quote
Exa Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) I do some tweaks to get much inner space and use 4 studs spacing in the lower right area. Track infos : - 4 left crossing - 4 right crossing - 1 double crossing - 150 straight - 44 curve - 7 flex - Inner track : 1298 studs, 10.38 meter - Outer track : 1403 studs, 11.23 meter - 2 track for parcking any Lego train - 1 reverse loop - 2 72 studs platforms Some kind of overview, impossible to picture all track ! The passenger station and the area for the modular city. Cargo area with two park track, each for one train. The red station is used as loading platform and train servicing. Building up a new station. The two main plaforms are fine for ICE. Edited December 6, 2014 by Exa Quote
kisper Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 U have a nice layout there :) May I ask how do U weigh the tracks down and prevent them from slipping ? Quote
Exa Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 I was afraid of slipping as the beginning when the track was on the wooden floor. But on the plates, there is no slippage. Quote
Exa Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 I have removed the double cross. I replace it by two pair of couted points. Quote
Exa Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 I have placed my modular on the layout. It starts to look nice. Quote
davidmull Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Can I asked why u removed the cross over track? I was thinking of buying on. Would you recommend modifying the switch tracks instead? Quote
Exa Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 I wanted to try the points cut out. It's only a part of the reason. The double cross works the way explained here : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97423entry1930761 So there is no way to have trains running straight in booth directions. Not very great... Double cross costs about 90 to 100 € so about 4 to 5 points box. If you know how double cross works, have money to spend, and did not have enough room to use two pairs of points, you can use it. It does a par of the job. But, I will never recommend this part for global purpose. I will use it back soon, I'm changing the layout for now. It will be used in a fine place. Quote
Exa Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 The old station platforms were too short. WIP for the new station while the old one is still in use. The construction of the new platforms goes on. The new station on platform side. The unfinished other side of the station. The new station can host two four parts ICE. Other view with two ICE in the station. One ICE swinging out of the station on the points. A second life for the old station... An hasbeen rock band use the platform as a stage ! The new station can be opened like Modular. Quote
davidmull Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Looks great well done, what's an ice? Also are u going to add any other trains maersk, horizon express etc? Quote
Exa Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 Thanks. It's very fun to run trains on this layout (up to 3 at the same time). ICE is the german high speed train. It looks like this : I got red and yellow cargo train. I also got one HE and I will perhaps look for a second one to have a full unit. But I think I will stay on DB looking train. Quote
Phoxtane Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 So, when does the table top get painted green to simulate baseplates? I wish I had the permanent space to set up something like this... Quote
davidmull Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Horizon express x2 would look great in that layout. 60051 is quiet a basic train. Quote
Farmer Harv Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Running the risk of thread necromancy, I was wondering if there were any updates on this great layout? Quote
