The Chosen Minifigure Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 "My parents were both alive when I left," Actaeon finds himself saying, thought he's barely aware of the words coming out of his mouth, "My father is probably dead by now," he says, as if it is the first time he himself realized it. "Terminal disease. Some doctors figured it out when I was young. I barely remember it. It never stopped dad from doing the things he wanted to and needed to do. He was the best dad I could ever ask for. He spent his last years planning and working 16 or more hours a day. We owned an inn, though business wasn't common in our town." Actaeon pauses. "He figured out exactly how much money it would cost my mother to survive after his death. He also calculated how much getting started at Heroica would cost. Travel, weapons, food- all of the stuff I would need. He spent over a decade working to save up for my mother and the rest of the time he spent getting the money for me to get started. I had always wanted to join Heroica. Ever since... well... a long time ago." Actaeon's face turns darker as he continues to speak, "My mother never liked me. I never understood what I did to her, but I never remember her saying anything kind to me. Ever. She never approved of me or my dreams to become a hero. She didn't think I could do it. I never understood why my father loved her. Yet he did. A few months after my father finally got enough money for my mother to live without him and for me to leave for Heroica, we got some bad news. He had just a few days, hours even, to live. Immediately he told me to leave for Heroica. He didn't want to die unless he knew I was gone and living my dreams." Actaeon takes a deep breath. Now fully aware of his words, "He planned everything out. Everything. You can't even imagine how many details he worked out for my mother and I to live our lives. I guess... I guess I inherited that mentality. I try to find all the little details and put them together like a perfect puzzle," he pauses looking at Diana and Kiray, "I guess that's why I exploded. The pieces didn't quite align the way I wanted to." "I raised myself, parentless, on the streets of Drandora port. I had a girlfriend, a feisty young girl with flaming orange hair, but she was killed by the blade of a sailor she tried to pickpocket. That, my friend, is how I started to go on adventures, and that is how I ended up meeting Warlen. All I have left of her is this..." Quarion starts humming, then begins singing in a low voice. "The lovers met on battlefield, To enemy neither would yield, They fought for right, Continued till night, And then united to stop the blight. When time had come, And they had Won, They kissed and wept, And then they slept, But never, ever did they forget. The whole song rings true; we met in an alley fight, fell in love, and when she died, I never forgot... and never will." From his right eye, a trail appeared with no flame, and a single tear fell to the ground. I think I hit a nerve. OK, I might as well tell my story. I end up ticking off some mages so they cursed my to be a cat. But, that was not enough for some-one and they put a bounty on my head. Then some "ghost things" attacked me. I ended up winning and breaking the curse. But, I was mess up. And now I am here. "Ha! Sorry, but that is funny. Like Ha-ha-ha-ha! funny. Sorry, I won't laugh. But wow, you won a fight as a cat? You must be a good fighter." Quote
Flipz Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) That is a pain in the rear to do. If I want your souls I would take them after your are dead. Then adding: Don't worry I am not that desperate to do something so dumb. "I feel so reassured." "You could?" Kiray's eyes lit up. "I'd love that, as much as it would hurt, you know? I don't know if I could ever repay you, but I'd love to come with you." "Well...yeah. I mean, it might take a while, and I can't guarantee anything, but it's worth a shot, you know?" The party nears the top of the mountain, and Mallelio momentarily stops them. "We have almost reached the Rito Settlement. I must caution you, the Rito are unpredictable. They are a proud race, and do not take well to disrespect. Denerii has proven herself to our people, but even she can be impulsive and...well, flighty. Respectfulness and patience are the keys for dealing well with this race." Having said his piece, Mallelio leads the party over the last ridge, where a number of winged figures await. Apologies to JimBee for the blatant image theft! "Halt! Who approaches?" "It is the Heroes and Mallelio, Julius! Welcome, all of you. We have been waiting." "Indeed. You fly with the owls this night. Late is the hour in which this conjurer and his champions choose to appear." "Yes. I'm sorry Julius, Denerii. We became ensnared in events in the capital and neglected to leave when we should have. I have only myself to blame for this." "Flavius! Is he well?" "Oh, yes. Rest assured, he wasn't involved. He is discussing alternative plans with the Emperor and the Dragonlord of Heroica, in the event that we fail to stop the Dragon-riders." "We will not fail! We are Rito! And you are Heroes! Together, we will shoot the baddies and save the land just as we did before!" Even in his tiredness, Mallelio had to smile at Denerii's optimism. "Let us hope so. Flavius told us you would have supplies--please, lead on." Denerii leads the party along a narrow path (occasionally flying when she forgets the others don't have wings) until they reach a small village of huts nestled within the rocks. They follow her inside one of the larger buildings, which appears to have originally been a meeting place of some kind. "Here you can rest, and gather your strength. Julius will show you the weapons we have crafted for you to use. We have also prepared some other supplies for you, though we will need some shineys in exchange for those! We must have shineys in order to trade with the people down below." Denerii winks. "Nice...sad to be giving up the old crossbow, but this is definitely worth it. I'll take a gypsy dart as well, just in case--some of this stuff might be valuable to other Heroes back in Eubric." She looks to Kiray. "Anything I can help you with? I don't want to use up all my gold, but if you want something, it's yours." "I might consider a Tonic, myself, but if anyone needs my meager gold more than I do, it would be my pleasure to help." "Be sure to to tell me when you are ready to rest for the night so I can send Julius home to his mate and their hatchlings. Don't forget, we must rise early if we hope to succeed--which we will! Flipz Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 QM Note: Most of the loot so far has been geared more towards you, Daeth, and Siercon, this is more geared towards the rest of the party. You can still get one of the weapons and either hold on to it until your Advanced Class, or you could sell it to another Hero back in the Hall. Quote
KotZ Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Kiray stared in awe at the settlement. It was so different from anything she had seen. When she came across the weapons, she decided to take the Sanctified Rito Longsword. "Thank you," she said to them. After hearing Diana's suggestion, Kiray replied, "Really? That's very kind of you. If you could, would you please help me upgrade the Sanctified Rito Longsword? Even if it's just one level, I have a feeling we will need a lot of power to face our coming enemies." Kiray then bought 1 Potion for 15 gold, leaving her with 16. (31-15= 16) Quote

"It may not be much, but I do expect my money back at some point," she warns. Then I ask: How often do you train Winged Warriors? "It depends what you mean. We teach our hatchlings to shoot before they can fly, and there are more hatchlings to teach every day! Once they've learned to walk the paths of the sky, reading the wind and feeling the flow of air, nothing can hide from us--then they are truly Winged Warriors." "Take this potion of mine, and rather upgrade your shield to lvl 3." If it's not too late, and she accepts, can this action be taken? This will leave Kiray with 1gp, my potion, and a lvl 3 shield. The Rito weapons cost half to upgrade forever, or just here at this time by the Rito? i.e.... if I take it to the marketplace way later will he 'find it easier to upgrade?' and charge less? If the Rito do not mind I am going to check out the Training Grounds, before I go to sleep. I want to play around with my "new toy", who knows I might even get airborne tonight. Quote
Actaeon Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 After my weapon is ready, I am ready to sleep. Quote
Flipz Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Also, is the Conductor Helmet an artifact? or will I be able to dawn it immediately? QM Note: Yes, the Conductor Helmet is an Artifact, and thus follows the normal rules of wearable Artifacts (that is, you would be able to equip it alongside your robe as soon as you reach Level 10). I'll update the stats again in the morning (the real-world morning for me, not the in-game morning ). Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Siercon thinks he'll save his gold for another day. And reads the letter from ella while sitting around a small bonfire. 'Finally some down time.' he thought. 'now's probably the calmest it will get before the storm. I truly hope we can save both of the dragoons.' Then he goes to sleep on his bedroll to regain his strength. Edit* Siercon tossed and turned and couldn't shake wanting to purchase the Guardian Feathers. Siercon buys Guardian Feathers for leaving him with 20 Gold. 60-40=20 Edited August 3, 2014 by Siercon and Coral Quote
Flipz Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Siercon steps up to Kiray. He notices that the potions are priced at 3x the standard price. While she is about to make her purchase for the potion which will leave her with 16 gold he speaks up. "Kiray, wait... here." He then hands her a potion. "Take this potion of mine, and rather upgrade your shield to lvl 3." If it's not too late, and she accepts, can this action be taken? This will leave Kiray with 1gp, my potion, and a lvl 3 shield. QM Note: I will let Kiray decide that; KingoftheZempk, if you would like to accept Siercon's offer, I will retcon it into the next stats update. If the Rito do not mind I am going to check out the Training Grounds, before I go to sleep. I want to play around with my "new toy", who knows I might even get airborne tonight. Germ slips away to the training grounds while the others go to sleep. (Check your Private Messages! ) Edit* Siercon tossed and turned and couldn't shake wanting to purchase the Guardian Feathers. Siercon buys Guardian Feathers for leaving him with 20 Gold. 60-40=20 Siercon lays down 40 gold for the feathers, but it's 10 short of the asking price. "Here," Diana says, sliding 10 more Gold to Julius to cover the mistake, "that's for being so reasonable today. Thanks for not jumping in when Actaeon started yelling at us." Diana then settles in for the night. Siercon thinks he'll save his gold for another day. And reads the letter from ella while sitting around a small bonfire. 'Finally some down time.' he thought. 'now's probably the calmest it will get before the storm. I truly hope we can save both of the dragoons.' Then he goes to sleep on his bedroll to regain his strength. Siercon breaks the letter's seal and reads it aloud for the rest of the party before bedding down for the night. Siercon, Tarn and I wish to extend our sincere gratitude to every Hero who risked his life in defending the emperor. Please relay this to the others, and reiterate that we only wish we could see you off in person as you continue to serve our people. I fear your Quest is far from over and see difficult decisions ahead in your quest. I simply want to encourage you all to reach out, and don't lose hope. That which may start in blood, does not have to end so. Godspeed, Ella Mallelio frowns. "May I see that?" Taking the letter, Mallelio studies it closely before returning it to Siercon. "That is her handwriting..." He yawns. "I'm likely just tired. Good night, Heroes." With that, Mallelio, too retires for the night, and the party rests. samurai-turtle Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Coming back: Listen up ever-body. I had a dream / vision. Stopping the Dragoons might be easier than I thought. They seem to be fighting each other. And I am think one has power of Darkness, the other one has the power of Lightning. I am thinking the one with Purple Armor uses Darkness, and the one with Red Armor uses Lighting. So you might want to see if you can get protection from some where. If I can remember any thing else I will let you. OoC: I might not be back untill Wednesday. Quote

samurai-turtle Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Ooc: Do I have some immunity against darkness due to having a gem? OoC: I am thinking NO. I know what some of you are thing, that I am full of crap. As his eyes start to glow a yellow and his hands start to spark with electricity. Just because I can not cast spells, does not mean I do not have magic. What ever that did it reminded him some other things. Dam, we should find the Purple Armor guy. I think he is trying to drag the other guy back, so he might be on the same mission as us. So we should get him to back off. Then another thought come in his mind. Were the Dragons were the one talking to him? Then Telling Actaeon: I hope you can talk to Dragons. We might be able to get them to help us. Great, I am probably going to have to answer more questions. He thought to himself. Edited August 4, 2014 by samuraiturtle Quote
KotZ Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Kiray accepts Siercon's offer if still valid. "I'll repay when I can," Kiray said. "Also, I am not a fan of this letter we have received," the knight began. "If it is her handwriting, could she possibly be under duress and it's a way she's trying to communicate with us?" Quote
