bjorn77 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I built this a few weeks ago. Love the exterior, but the interior is the worst of the lot. Nothing that 25 euro and 300 bricklinked pieces couldn't help though. :) Quote

Nothing that 25 euro and 300 bricklinked pieces couldn't help though. :) The City Advent calendar from last year helped out. If you do a Christmas setup, you could include the tree, Santa, the presents, and the microbuild vehicles could go to the toy section. Also, the table setup and glasses would be useful in the housewares section. Quote

Also, the table setup and glasses would be useful in the housewares section. I built a clothing rack for the ground floow. For the 2nd floor, I built sin's fantastic espesso bar plus I added shelves with housewares. For the 3rd floor, I added several shelves with various toys (micro builds and minifig utensils like skateboards). Here are the MOC's that inspired me: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=90595 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=93947&hl=%20grand%20%20emporium&st=50 Quote

Off the wall Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Not giving a flip about the interior, and even if I did I find this interior satisfactory, I think the exterior is outstanding. So much so that I've expanded this building to be four stories and cover six of the 32 x 32 plates. There are at least a few of us who enjoy buying multiple copies of a modular and expanding its footprint. I think it keeps us going during the long drought between modular releases. Now that the GE is available again, I'm mulling over a fifth floor. Quote
bjorn77 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Modding interior is a less expensive way to keep going between modular releases. And I think it's a lot of fun coming up with new micro builds. Not everyone can afford six GE sets, less have the space to display them :) Quote
Off the wall Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) Actually, it took more than six. :-) The added fourth story took up a lot of parts. Not to mention the increased width. Edited August 11, 2014 by Off the wall Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) Back with the Progress... 1st Floor: Yummy!!...love these poly Bags Nice decoration of Tiles! Awesome Extra Legs, Hat and cap...and so funny that guy in changing room is having pants..lool ( No clrear photos...He needs privacy ) Spinning Door..Nice Idea Cute Simple Back Door..Could it be also Emergency Door? There it is...Done! Some Other side-Photos - The Little Boy is making some naughty actions... Models are absolutely Great! Big Smile with 2 big Shopping Bags... Remarks: *CONS: -Main annoying thing i faced is the base-plat on one side is little raised-up which gives bad level look on the ground/surface. -LEGO must include a Wall Ledge for men Legs ( Trouser ) like the one they did for the kit Shirt. *PROS: -Great Exterior Look. -New parts i see them for my first time (e.g: Large Transparent Windows,,,etc) -Changing Room Idea. -escalator idea is so nice and neat This is so far my review for the 1st floor and next Floor is on they way Thanks For Watching Cheers! VintageLegoEra Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) 2nd Floor: Done! Attached with 1st Floor: Remarks: -Nothing much to say about this floor except that it is a disappointing floor with almost empty interior and very fast to build it. -Well it has some new parts to me like: transparent bricks, Wine Glass Enjoy! 3rd floor coming soon Regards Edited August 11, 2014 by VintageLegoEra Quote
CrazyDalton777 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I have this, so glad it has numbered bags. I was told that it had plain bags with no numbers (I haven't had the chance to build yet). With the amount of skateboards and basketballs/footballs (soccer) I have from sets spare, I might re arrange the seconds floor so it has a sport shop. Quote

Only the cafe Corner & Market Street were having non-Numbered bags. After these model, all the bags are numbered :) NIce..What you have spares will be excellent refill to floor 2.....Looking forward for your Build! Thnaks Quote

Away from Routine Build of 2nd and 3rd Floor Indeed,,a nice idea and design of the Large Window on the Roof: Adv. Board: Done! Worker/Cleaner and his Lift: All Together! TWO2SEVEN Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 This was my first modular build after coming back to Lego after 20 years. I was very impressed with the updated building techniques and exterior appearance. As others have said, the interior is somewhat lacking. I was pleasantly surprised when I built the Pet Shop (my second modular) this weekend that the interior was a bit more detailed. They look great next to each other. Quote

Totally agree...i think from the Pet Shop to Parisian Restaurant, the interior details are getting detailed and nice ( and not to forget the Fire Brigade which also has a great finishing! Quote

LAKAbricks Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 GE is a fantastic modular, and was also the first modular I got to build. And so far the only one. Right now it's not built, but I look forward to rebuilding it. And fill it with custom interiors. The chandelier is really a special part of this set. Already before I got GE, I was crazy about the chandelier. I look forward to see what you are going to do about the Christmas set, VLE. Quote
