No aftermarket parts on the creature. If the rider has aftermarket parts, don't worry about retaking the photos, but if the parts are on the creature, a change is required.

Absolutely. Why not?

Hand Book II: Summit at Lagash Ur Part II
ZCerberus replied to MassEditor's topic in Guilds of Historica
*CCR plays in the background* "I see the bad Nocturnus arising.... I see, trouble on the way!" Love the wait staff, very nice touch! LV- I am glad you're enjoying the ride. As a big Nocty contributor, perhaps you would like a chance to contribute to the story some day as well! ME- what happened to the enchanted pumpkin pie? It is the official dish of Nocturnus! -

I think for purposes of this challenge, only one entry, though a second entry will always count as freebuild points. Submit the one you want for the competition using the "Mount-up!" title, put "freebuild" in the title of the other. I am a nice and easy going guy- you can choose which one you want in the challenge at any time before the deadline. So even if you title one "Mount-up!" and decided you would like to switch it to another one... fine with me!

The rule states it must rideable by a humanoid figure. It doesn't say there can't be other figures outside of that.

Historica is not only filled with odd races of humanoids, but also many wild and crazy beasts and animals. Many of these beasts also double as suitable transportation. These “rideable” creatures are known in the MMORPG world as "mounts". LEGO has officially gotten into the act as well with the CHIMA “Legend Beast” collection released this year. Now it is time for Historica to ditch the horses and get some new mounts! To enter this mini-challenge: -Build a “mount”. -Create a new thread with the words "Mount Up!" in the title. -Describe the history, culture, uses, attributes, or anything else that makes this mount unique. -The creature must be "rideable" by a humanoid figure, so adding a saddle or other place for a figure to ride the creature is required. -You can create a base for your entry but it may be no bigger than 256 (16 x16 equivalent) square-studs though your mount may overhang the base by an unlimited amount. -For this challenge, no non-LEGO or aftermarket parts will be allowed. Purists rejoice! -Premolded LEGO animals and LEGO animals parts are allowed, but use them at your peril as premolded animals will likely not win you this challenge. -As always, no cutting or modifying LEGO parts, though you may use official LEGO stickers if you so desire. -Submit at least one (maximum of three) photos of your mount with a humanoid-rider. -Submit your entry before 11:59:59 August 31 Pacific Time in the US. We will always be slightly flexible on this, but when I wake up here in the US on September 1st, all the entries should be in. -Entries will be judged by the guild leaders and you can expect a sweet tag or perhaps even another cool prize from my prize closet for the best entry.

The Hand Book II: Summit at Lagash Ur
ZCerberus replied to MassEditor's topic in Guilds of Historica
If it was easy to follow it wouldn't be interesting! I think the story is more Game of Thrones like than Lord of the Rings like, it is supposed to have a lot of political intrigue and layers. -
You're jumping the gun Infernum! This would have been excellent for the soon to be announced mini-challenge!

Awesome work. Great work with the photos too. Nocturnus take over time! -
Great roof shape! I love the purple color. I agree, some better photos would really help.

First rule of Nocturnus thread- do not talk about LUGBulk! Thank you all! -
I do love those colors!

A reminder- this site is primarily to discuss LEGO sets and MOCs. Advertising "LEGO Ideas" projects should only be secondary. You're dangerously close to crossing the line here. Please only update this thread for discussion on the MOC itself and not the progress of the ideas supporters.

I do have some tips for you! Looks like you have several of them down, but there might be a few tricks to pull from this... 1. Take it outside! Lots of natural light so no light box needed, though you will definitely want to photograph in the shade to avoid shadows. 2. Turn off the flash if you're outside. The glare from a flash that is directed at a MOC is hideous! 3. For black MOCs, surround the MOC with white poster-board Or any flat white surface probably, and move/angle the poster-board so it reflects in the black. This will REALLY help as the detail will begin to be seen without having to torture the color in the picture in editing. Click this link to see my results on a mostly black MOC and read my similar tips here. These pictures a links too. Indoors, no white poster-board: Outdoors, using poster-board:

Cool soccer. I like the more "LEGO" set oriented build style here, I think you have it down. Your MOCs are still 1000 times better, but it's fun to build this way too some times!

Looks great Gary. We do need more civil war MOCs, but it is so uniquely American there are fewer people to draw from. Not that a European couldn't make a MOC of it, just less likely than one of the great wars or something from their own history. Still waiting for you to join Nocturnus so team USA/Nocturnus can rule the roost in GoH

I like that they are using official LEGO molds. Very good.

So long as it wasn't a wimpy, bedazzled, wimpy, silly, wimpy, weak, wimpy Avalonian fist we will make it.
