  1. Please, no duplicate topics. Considering the topic I'll not remove this, but only one is going to be left open. I can move the other if you like, perhaps to General?
  2. Set Index: Toxic Reapa Toxic and cute; what an dangerous combination! The Heroes get a standard "H", but the villians get a custom image. Nice touch. (The 3D effect of this is rather good.) Nothing exciting on the back... so much so that it has no real "action" shot. Don't get me wrong though; I love how TLG are happy to sell shooter-less figures now. Well it's time to unzip! Now that it's flat you can see it better. Evo seems to think he's going to get Toxic Reapa... but he'll be sludged. The exciting contents! It's a bit hard to see thing like this so... Lime lovers rejoice! (I'm becoming one! ) From an other perspective. Action figure sets often look a bit simplistic in this form though. First off the head! I would like to say especially that it's wonderful to see a return of holed eyes. Even with nothing behind them I think they look a lot better. Like other sets from this batch it's axeled and un-interesting inside. But it's a great head so I'm OK with that. The hoses! A common theme at the moment. I'll have to make a MOC using all the colours! Lime system! I love it when TLG mix normal system in action figure sets. These are one of the highlights of the set. The colour works really well with this set. People who buy cross-theme (like me!) will have plenty of these, but I think they're new in Hero Factory. In either case they're nice pieces. Time to build! As a hunched-over type fig he's different. The pins on the shoulder are for the sludge, and the center parts are for the head and chest. ...and he's ready to sludge you! From the rear he looks OK, but he's helped by the dark panels. The spare parts... notice anything odd? Yeah, one of the interesting things about this line is that you get a Hero badge regardless of if the set is a Hero or Villain. Did he steal it? Who knows! I do find it funny that they show it in the final instructions shot though. They all have a unique (supposedly) code that gives you game credit. The other side is much like previous badges, but they've used the same colour as the text to darken the insides. I haven't tried the game yet but there's adverts for it in every instruction! Toxic is a lot of fun, and friendly too! But Evo will have none of that and he prepares the cuffs... ...but as promised he's sludged. Another happy ending. Party time! Ratings Posability: Quite good actually! You'd think the hoses would be an annoyance by they are just the right length. Also, since most of his panels are the smaller ones his limbs have a good range of motion. 10/10 Parts: Aside from the mask, the biggest appeal is the recolours 7/10 Looks: One of my favorite small villains for a while. Even though I'm a bit tired of those feet parts the hunched-over look plus the big shoulders works really well. The colour scheme is especially good. 10/10 Fudge: Sludge, sludge, sludge, sludge, sludge, sludge. 10/10 Overall: Getting the impression I like this one? No, well I do! Buy! 9/10 This review is part of a series. If you feel some aspect wasn't covered be sure to check my review for Black Phantom, Evo and Rocka before asking about it! I might improve some of these photos if time permits... but if you have anything in mind please feel free to ask. EDIT: Combiner.
  3. Siegourney can't say no to Adventure.
  4. Hard. She's in the wrong workplace. I'm surprised. Personally I think the Witch Doctor is a weak set.
  5. None needed; EB is an AFOL site. Besides, it's a generic engineering term, don't blame me for your smutty thoughts.
  6. Day 18, 72 winners so far! Are you one? No? Well there's still six days to go! Keep track of it all via the raffle calendar and the official EB SW X-mas Raffle 2011 topic. Oh... and if you haven't seen this entry by Praiter Yed... ...then I recommend you have a look through the topic for more laughs!
  7. Set Index: Black Phantom "The Phaaaaaaaantom of the Factory is here.... inside a box". It's a nice shot too. I especially like how the opposite figure is shown in the background. This seems to be common throughout this line. Ahhh.... heaven. It's a photo! Please TLG, do this more. EDIT: I've been convinced otherwise! Post deboxing goodies. The part that I always dread, the traditional arrangement. Good blend of parts though. Here's one TLG prepared earlier. A chest like this is perfect for a Super Hero, so no surprise that it's perfect for a super villain too! It's connected via the standard fashion... and unlike some of the other new Hero Factory parts, this looks un-interesting in reverse. Same design as the one in Thornraxx. I really like the head detail of this mask... ...so it doesn't concern me that it looks bad inside. The clips are used for the eyes in this set. I like this part. Nothing like a subtle mace to teach a hero who's boss. One of these parts is used as a power explosion in the Green Lantern set. The new joint piece. There's some softer clear plastic inside that grips better than the standard joint. It's exposed on the inside and also on the outer ball joint sides. One of my first thoughts was "I wonder how it looks joined to another". This was a mistake. Separating them afterward is annoying.... Seriously, don't do it! Sword thingy. It looks almost like it's glow-in-the-dark. but it's not. This is similar to the head colour; personally I think it would have been better if the colour matched the shoulder pieces more. These clips are used as legs/wrist straps, but they'll be really useful. I hope these are seem more across the themes. Very nice head. With the head behind he looks like he has a evil smile. Those side attachments will be very useful! Yeah, we're back to axle connections. I do prefer how this one is a female rather than male. These parts are used as shoulders for many of the new line. This one I'd consider using backwards... I do like these colored hoses... which is good because they seem to be more and more common! It's much the same colour as the transparent shoulder weapon parts. Time to begin! The legs are built very similar to Rocka XL but I do prefer the usage of the t-shaped part to stabilise the legs, rather than the 3 long one of Rocka. While it's a bigger part it blends better and in effect is less obvious. (The colour matching helps too.) Where he does differ is that he doesn't have the cumbersome double joint system that's been the norm for a while. Instead the new joint part caps the limb part. So how does it go? Well using the highly scientific grab-the-arm-and-move-it-and-make-a-guess method I think that the new joint is stiffer than two, while obviously being more compact. (It's probably cheaper to make the new part too rather than the supporting parts needed.) I realise that people complain when black is hard to view in instructions, but I find the heavy white border a bit much. Surely there can be a happy medium! ...and so we're done! I think he's a imposing demonic looking fellow so I like him! From the rear he looks OK... not good, but OK. I do wonder if next time TLG will re-design the standard legs. To be honest as amusing as it was at first that "bum" effect is getting a bit tiresome. This is an "arachnix drone". I don't think much of it as a weapon, but as a drone it's OK. I think it needs a tail, but I suppose then it couldn't have been used as a weapon. Perhaps they should have included some of the chain and had him leashed! But wait! While I've been ranting Rocka has turned up looking for justice.... but he's not looking down. Defeated at the hand of the Black fantôme... Where's Preston when we need him? The evil trio... where it seems the Witch Doctor is in a playful mood. Ratings Posability: Very good, the shoulder changes make a huge difference. 10/10 Parts: There's lot's I like here; the new joints, the spiky ball, loads of dark red, the new chest piece... 9/10 Looks: He looks demonic. Full points from me! 10/10 Fudge: I like him... a lot actually. But I do wish TLG would mix up the legs a bit; he's too similar to other Hero Factory sets, such as Rocka XL. Hopefully next time. 8/10 Overall: This is a big improvement over previous titans like Fire Lord and Rocka XL. The slimming of the torso and shoulders is a winner to me, and aesthetics aside it allows TLG to make sets a bit cheaper. 9/10 Bonus image by Front! This review is part of a series. If you feel some aspect wasn't covered be sure to check my review for Evo, Toxic Reapa and Rocka before asking about it! I might improve some of these photos if time permits... but if you have anything in mind please feel free to ask.
  8. It's no stress... thanks for sharing and I'll merge this.
  9. "Finds" are more referring to when you "find" a bargain that others can also buy. Such as 30% off at a certain store.
  10. Anyone who was affected by this needs to PM me with details ASAP.
  11. ...and you're boasting about it? Don't do this. Just don't. I've merged all your posts to this topic. Please don't do something this annoying again.
  12. Evo (who's shown in this review) is OK, and Toxic (who I'll have a review of up in the next few days) is cool. One of my favourite standard sized bad guys for a while.
  13. Set Index: Rocka 6202 He's back! I do wonder who he's attacking in this image though; Black Phantom is behind him. Maybe he's hunting tigers or something. The handcuffs and the new core are the star of this line it seems; they're making a feature of them every time. *** Rip! *** The cover is a bit clearer flat. Do note that is a slightly bigger set, and that's why this one gets 300 bonus game points... ...while the rest get only 200. What is actually going on here I'm not sure. I think that Rocka and Splitface are both higher priced than usual sets, but at this stage I don't know. What I also don't know why Rocka gets the bonus size; didn't he get enough of that with Rocka XL? Two bags are squeezed into the package, with the bandoleer loose. Rocka still seems to have a gold obsession. Please note that the spears are the hard type. Here's the part page. A bit more than usual due to the expanded nature of this set. First off, I just love this part... so much so I made a video! I'm hoping that it's used more, if not I might have to Bricklink some! Here's my "new head" comparison. I'm a bit unsure on what I think with this. At first I thought this was new (out of the first Heroes I only bought the bike; that's my excuse!), but I then went to my Corroder. In any case I prefer this head being used than the 2.0 one. The new "Batman Returns" style torso. While I do like the new torso, I don't like how this is the new custom piece; to me this is a part you'd prefer unmarked as it's less common than the armour plate parts. Connection-wise it's a slight improvement over the older one with two additional mounting points. Lost in time, and brought out of the archives is the Rocka 1.0 head... possibly. I do wonder if this really is a rejected prototype that they decided to put in production now. Probably not, but I wonder just the same! I don't like the axle connection though. While I've never broke one myself, I've seen them broken before (and bought some price-reduced broken ones), and thus I always am sure to remove them slow and straight. I hope that this is just a temporary return to avoid needing a new head... I do think there is a resemblance with the old and new masks (or to put it another way the "old" and old). But, as Brickthing said to me, considering it's supposed to be a 1.0 mask does that make sense seeing the actual 3.0 masks didn't match the 1.0 ones... I love this new gun piece, especially the "cooling jacket". It's very gun-like too, for TLG. I like the Hero Factory detailing to the rear. Inside it's not too usable. Seems to be the trend with the new parts. Note the right hand side; this is meant as a decently subtle ball shooter part. I'm looking forward to seeing MOCs with this; the obvious use is a ammo belt on a mech. It's also been seem before on an Iron Man prototype. On to the building, and aside from the extra height there's something different with this one. Next come the weapons... ...and we're done! His mask to me looks like a crusader helm. I do like the bow idea, but the bandoleer is rather stiff so it doesn't pose too well. Here you can see the difference in a standard Hero and a "Super" Hero. (Rocka weighs about 101 grams and Evo is about 85 grams.) It's more clear from the back; Rocka is three sections higher in the legs and one in the arms. He's also got an extra foot on the back. Spares are sparse, but TLG tend to include easily lost/broken/miscounted parts. Sometimes I think TLG should include random parts just to please twits like me! (Sometimes I think they do...) As I keep saying, the shield is a winner. The bow is pretty cool too, but the shooting function is not. The new shorter squeeze part combined with the new rigid gun part result in a lot of extra needed pressure. In addition, it is very inaccurate; it pulls to the rigid side by about 20 degrees. True as an AFOL I don't care at all, but I'm assuming that 35 year olds are not the target audience. Ouch! Someone has kicked Rocka so hard there's a boot print! All jokes aside I like this. Maybe they should have picked a more subtle part, but it's much better than the stick figure alternative. Ahhhghh! It's the evil (French?) Black Phantom! Unfazed by his vast size Rocka takes him on... 1. *** Scuffle *** 2. ??????????????? 3. Victory! I don't get it either. Maybe it's a dream? On the subject of these two, for some interesting reason, the opposing sets get the combiners this time. To be honest I don't like it. Getting back to randomness, if you overanalysed this image it could be seen as a dream sequence of someone fighting inner demons... Enough with the nonsense ranting! Onto the ratings! Ratings Posability: Good, but not especially good. The bandoleer gets in the way when posing the left arm.7/10 Parts: The shield need I say more? I do? Tough. The shield is good enough. If people can buy a $100 Star Wars set for a figure, then they can by a $15 set for two cool shield pieces.10/10 Looks: While it's the same as the last series, I do like this colour combination, and the new torso piece makes these look more different too. In particular Rocka looks better from the back. 8/10 Fudge: I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm hoping that this is a test of a higher price point for Heroes. Personally I think that they should make the standard set just a bit bigger as that little bit of detail can make or break a set. But niggles aside it's a good set, and I think price aside I prefer this to Rocka XL. 9/10 Overall: Wow. I like this one a lot. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.9/10 This review is part of a series. If you feel some aspect wasn't covered be sure to check my review for Evo, Toxic Reapa and Evo before asking about it! I might improve some of these photos if time permits... but if you have anything in mind please feel free to ask.
  14. I must confess that I like (and own)... ...mostly because of the expression. He can be found in 8257 Cyber Luke McAwesomes. But he's naked! (I'll refrain from making Power Puller jokes on that angle.)
  15. Sorry, I'm pretty busy during the week. I'm assembling my last two sets now. Please pass on my thanks for such a cool piece!
  16. It's no surprise that someone who puts as little care in his posts as wertyuipo does failed to read (and understand) the message.
  17. Darn. I can't believe I missed out on this...
  18. Yeah, I figured someone might do that. Yeah, the foot is weird, but I do prefer it to nothing.
  19. Black. His feet are gunmetal grey. I'm going to scan some of the manual for the review. If I get around to it tomorrow I'll post pics here.
  20. I think he's one of the best larger LEGO action figures for a while. He looks really demonic, which I like!
  21. Yes, they have always been wrong. We could correct them but what's the point? Time on a global forum is rather irrelevant anyway and since most people have set their time taking the error into consideration it'd annoy more people fixing it now.
  22. Yeah, it's too true. When I was doing all six last year I went a bit looney by the end and that's why I went for the one written by Von Nebula. In regard to your review I was impressed with the new ball shooting analysis!
  23. I appreciate your honesty. I promise a minimum of cut-and-paste from me. (I have Black Phantom.)
  24. I'll have a 6202 Rocka review up soonish (possibly tomorrow) but in the mean time, I've just gotta say I love the shield!
  25. This topic is based on a vague opinion of a nobody based on a possible movie. Closed...
