You're in the ballpark, but as much as I'd love to flat out remove the ads, I'm more for reducing them if we had alternate sources (I'd prefer to just have the frontpage ad) as it's not fair that 50 people (for argument sake ) pay and thousands enjoy. But even so, we aren't in this to make money so if we did get enough takers, and ended up with four times what were making today, then we'd probably pull all the ads. But I'm not convinced there's the interest. I've been on this site for a while now, and we've had less than 10 people actually offer to help out with expenses, and even less actually follow though. -
This issue keeps being mentioned so maybe it's time that we gave this some serious thought. EB isn't a small site anymore. We've gone though several servers over the last few years and we think we're OK... for now. These things cost money. The staff (admins included) are volunteers, but the servers are not. Thus we need to pay these bills, and the easy way is advertising. I really don't like advertising, many don't, but it's what keeps us up. Many feel that they dislike ads so much that they want them gone. Some use adblockers, but some are prepared to put their money where their mouth is. Are you one of those? I want to know! Please note that this is all hypothetical. We'd need at least 50 people to make this worthwhile. Please share any thoughts you might have as well.

If you can fund us server wise with no strings attached for a full year please contact me. (Or any other of the admins.) That's where most of our money goes... If we didn't have bills to pay we wouldn't need ads. PM sent...!

So how does this work? It's simple, you go to the calendar page, which looks like this... ...and see the daily winners. At midnight each day, EB time, a new window will automatically reveal showing one of the entries, and six new names will be added to the list at the bottom. The bottom list also shows you what the winners win... FAQ: 1. Entries are closed. You can't enter now. 2. Original entries can be found here.

...so has any Australian been told theirs is "Shipping"? I got my order done in the first hour yet I'm starting to think that the Australian allotment is 0... The LEGO battery is worth the cost, and can't be compared to Ni-MH. It's an easy mod to get the battery in firmly. I did it with parts included in the set.

Yeah, it's funny; I received this set before they were released, but I ended up buying most of the first wave prior to the review being allowed to be posted! As a side note I did bring it to the Sydney Brick Show!
