Hopefully you can also buy it separately on the side (like you could with the black brain gwp) so I can easily obtain multiples of the pack..

I hate green apple candy. Maybe that's why I've never cared much for trans bright green.

He has a spear like weapon on his back, most likely what the geared arm is intended for.

Same case with Black Phantom/ Voltix/ Speeda, but the versatility of attachments to that helmet helped keep them unique.

I'm not sure how the function is built, but looking at the pieces behind his neck, he might have like a bashing-clapping function of some sort. Well, it would make sense at least. I hope all of the functions on these villains are done as well as the Toa.

That gold protector mask looks very strange, ithe point at where the gold and Trans ice blue meet is a very odd color Then again that picture looks a bit saturated, his gold look more like dark orange in that setting, so maybe it won't be as jarring in person

Huh, I have to say I wasn't expecting those toa masks to actually stay with the sets, let alone is those interesting colors. Will reserve judgement until closer photos

After discovering Chro's nifty small torso build and modifying it to an extent, I have been experimenting with a few different smaller builds. I really wanted to use that awesome dual-colored protector head in something (and use it as an armor piece instead of just a mask) As a piece of chest armor, it vaguely reminded me of the torso armor Hahli wore in the MoL movie, so I had a go at building her. As usual, built as a "set concept." Ideally, the black parts would be dark blue, but they don't exist in that color so she is wearing black boots and gloves I suppose. Of course, we all know Matoran are supposed to be the little 'uns, so we could shrink her down a bit

I will say one thing about the more stylized bones- I do like them to some extent. Right now, if you want to have a thin, bone-like leg by leaving it unarmored, people just scream at you to put armor on it. Since the new bones will not offer mounting points, it gets the point across that they are supposed to be skeletal, not just unarmored. Aesthetics. (Though with that said, I'd much rather have oodles of the standard bones in white since all we got right now is one length, but I can dream) It was a stampede I tell you!

As much as I want to say these colors are going to change, I'm not keeping my hopes up. First, each one has the new torso piece in a trans color. Warrior= trans ice blue Slicer= trans bright green Scorpion= trans neon green Basher/Grinder= trans neon orange (trans red on grinder?) And all 5 of them have trans neon orange as a secondary trans color. Most of the parts that are in that trans neon orange color already exist in those other trans colors, so it's doubtful those are placeholder colors. Considering that LoSS also had the trans neon orange, this might be a way to tie them all to Grinder. Bones are all black/light gray, with the occasional trans one, again corresponding to that figures main trans color. The only exception is Basher, who for some reason has trans purple. The only thing I can possibly think of is that the trans neon orange is a placeholder for more unique colors, like spring yellowish green, light gray, or some other color that these parts didn't come in before- but I think that's wishful thinking...

For now links to the photos have been delinked given the extreme confidential nature of the photos. You can find them elsewhere on the internet, but do refrain from directly linking to them for the time being. With that said, I wonder what the golden Toa masks are a placeholder for? Golden versions of the villains masks? New bones are...literally bones. They fit these sets well, but I don't really know what else they are gonna be all that useful for.

I'm not that big of a fan of Scooby Doo but that Mystery machine looks pretty cool, and at $30 it's reasonable enough. Will most likely be the only thing I get from the lineup.

It's in one of this years Technic sets, so I certainly wouldn't count out the possibility.

Battle for the Gold Mask Semi-finalists and Winner
VBBN replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I suppose I ought to lend a few thoughts as one of the organizers of the contest- Yes, the method of picking the winners was problematic since the start. I believe the original plan was to have each respective community vote to come up with the top results, then from there the winners would be chosen, however when Lego stepped in to up the ante, the decision to do all judging was then added in. It could be due to their legal terms, or because of the prizes at stake being generously given, I don't know, but in the end that was their method of choosing. In future joint contests I would certainly prefer to try to add the community in as a major player in deciding who wins- the original idea behind this contest was to bring the communities together, after-all. There are some things to take into mind when you run a contest like this and try to pick a method of voting. There can be a lot of trickery involved in the voting when it's spread across multiple sites, and confining all of the voting to one separate website where people had to make an account to vote could potentially decrease the amount of voters. This was the first time a contest like this was ever done, so we had no idea what type of turnout it would have. Ultimately this was a learning experience for everyone, from the community leaders to Lego themselves. Another issue that comes up is the multiple entries across multiple sites, and re-usuing previous built entries. Again, this are things that need to be considered further in the future. I might as well give a couple quick comments on the three winners from our site. Terror Bite: I loved the cartoonish look and some of the creative building techniques (the use of the dino tail moreso than the head) Color scheme was great, and the personality it gave off was memorable. IGU turned in a lot of fantastic entries, and i had a tough time picking which one was my favorite, that's for sure. Mechan'Rex: TheOneVeyronian, you have asked a few times why this entry ended up in the finals among your others- I had actually chosen one of your first entries (the rider on the steed) as I liked the build and concept, however Lego's panel thought the rider should be the focus and his build wasn't up to par compared to the steed, and so it seems they chose Mechan'Rex instead. Claughn: There were quite a few entries that I liked for the simplicity of their build. Pate's pirate character, for example. Claughn was another one of those characters, His head, colors, even the way he was posed gave off a great clownish vibe. I've seen some people complain that these types of villains are not Bionicle in aesthetic. Plenty of the top entries I sent in had a Bionicle aesthetic to them, though it seems the creativeness aspect was one of the dominating decision makers. There were quite a few entries that I sent in, so of course the results of who won were even a surprise to me (the same goes for the other sites). Many of the top picks were in our finalist pool as well, but we had to evenly divide them among websites which, again, is something that hopefully we can work on improving in the future. Regardless, this was a learning experience, and an awesome one at that. it was great to work with the other 5 sites and Lego themselves to bring everyone this opportunity, and I certainly hope to do this again! -
Yeah, I'm kind of enjoying the lack of leaks- it really helps to keep the winter wave special. As soon as leaks pop up, the winter sets are just thrown on the back-burner because "omg does he have the mask of life? or is that a mr potato head mask?" preliminaries become the center of discussion. Either way, all will be revealed by the end of February at the latest of course, given that Toy Fair is fast approaching. Terribly posed and misbuilt figures ahoy!

Akamai certainly uses a lot of the parts from the three sets. He looks a bit stiff, though the way you built the legs is quite an interesting representation of the original Akamai's legs. His arms also look quite thin, it's hard to image his ability to lift up that massive weapon on his left. Interesting to see that you also tried building a weapon out of the heads to mimic the original. I do like that hammer on the Protector Akamai. Quoting another post without adding thoughts of your own does not contribute to the thread. Please refrain from doing this in the future.

Yikes, those are some very generalized Toa in those comics, a very basic typical-robot body build with a mask slapped on. Makes me appreciate how stylized the animated characters are.

Messed around with Tahu, Pohatu, and Onua today Both arms move via gear system. Gear system is mostly Onua's design. I tried to keep a few details from the original 01 Akamai present here. The chest using claws was one, and this...thing was the other. The original had two mata skulls as a sort of club or large hand, I opted to make it into an energy firing weapon of some sort. Also out of the spare parts I built a flying skull turtle and a skull snake. I mean, why not, He's not perfect, certainly some areas like his upper thighs suffered a lot from the lack of parts, but I'm pleased with how he turned out. I tried to keep the gold off of him to stay truer to his G1 colors.
