Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules
MKJoshA replied to goatman461's topic in Factions Archive
Choose Your Own Adventure Choose Your Own Adventures are a unique challenge for individual players. Each CYOA tells a specific story that the player can influence by making choices that are shown through a MOC. To progress the story your MOC must earn a score of 4 XP or higher. XP (and applicable IP) you earn will count as normal. The CYOAs will be set in different eras and have a predetermined plot so you will not use your own Faction character(s) in your story telling. Some choices within the CYOAs will require specific skills. If your character doesn't have the required skill you will not be able to pick that choice. Each CYOA will have it's own dedicated topic. The list of currently available CYOAs is below. When starting a CYOA each player will also create their own topic with the title "[CYOA - CYOA title][Sector - Planet - Faction] Player Name". Example: [CYOA - The Arena][N13 - Denon - CS] MKJoshA. Your first post in your CYOA topic should be your first choice and accompanying MOC. After you create your topic, post a link to it in the dedicated CYOA topic. There is a Tutorial Choose Your Own Adventure for you to practice on if you want. Normal rules apply, except no XP will be earned from playing the Tutorial. This is because no MOCs will be required to progress in the story. It will just help you understand the game mechanics better. Normal XP and IP rules apply. If your faction doesn't have access to a planet that has a CYOA, you can complete it for personal XP but not IP or the completion bonus. The first few CYOAs will be the exception to this rule. Anyone may participate for IP regardless of current access. Each time you complete a CYOA you will get a bonus 10 IP to place on any planet you choose in the sector where the CYOA is located. Each CYOA can be completed only once per player with 0-99 XP, twice for players with 100-199 XP, and three times for playesr with 200 XP or more. Each CYOA will have it's own topic, but each player will need their own topic to play through the story. Links to each players topic need to be posted in the original CYOA topic. For example, all "The Arena" player topics will have links posted by the players in the original "The Arena" CYOA topic. Current CYOAs available Tutorial: Abandoned Ship The Lone Stormtrooper The Arena Other Notes Please be patient with us as we launch this! We are still working out the bugs. -

Faction: CorSec Faction Leader: MKJoshA Capital: Coronet City, Corellia Planets: Corellia, Trellen, Ojom, Thyferra, Yag'Dhul, Qiilura, Bothawui Systems: M11, L14, L7, R14 History: A lot has changed on Correllia since the day Lady Proxima’s gang ruled the streets. As the Empire grew, law and order were established in Coronet City. Working hand-in-hand with the Empire’s security forces, the Correllian Security Force (or CorSec as it was more commonly referred to) was established. After the fall of the Emperor and with the rise of the New Republic, Correllia began working cooperatively with New Republic Intelligence. CorSec, already having a reputation for producing highly skilled operatives and always getting the job done, was called on by the New Republic to help establish peace across the galaxy. While primarily a security force, CorSec has grown to include other departments. They have their own in-house mechanics. As well as their own in-house medical team. As their influence across the galaxy grows, so does CorSec's departmental needs. After the Battle of Endor, Mick (or MKJoshA as he was known then) left the Rebellion to return to his home world of Corellia where he joined CorSec. His previous work with the Alliance Intelligence division made him more than qualified for the job. He kept tabs on all his friends from the Rebellion and even recruited some to come work with him in CorSec. But he was glad to be back home and working for a legitimate government. He wasn’t ashamed of what he’d done with the Rebellion, but he slept better at night now. Everyone in the Force knew his background, so when his commanding officer Corran Horn called him to meet with a representative of the New Republic Mick wasn’t surprised. Corran said, "Mick, I want you to meet Alexsandr Kallus, New Republic representative." Kallus said, "Good to meet you Mick, Commander Horn tells me your the man for the job." Mick replied, "Thank you sir, I'll do my best. What job do you need done?" Kallus answered, "We've got our hands full in the New Republic right now. I've got a batch of new recruits who need training in the kind of skills CorSec is famous for. Naturally we'll work with CorSec if you find a being you'd rather keep in your ranks. Can I count on you?" The next day Kallus brought in the first batch of new recruits. "Listen up!" Kallus shouted. "You're here to follow instructions, not mouth off. So give your undivided attention to Mick." "Alright, so here's what the training process will look like..." began Mick. It was going to be hard but worthwhile work getting these recruits up to speed. And this was just the first batch! Maybe you'll be part of the next batch? "Join CorSec!" You can sign up here in this thread.

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
MKJoshA replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Please keep all future complaints about the Black Card VIP perks in the appropriate thread. This thread is for set discussion not complaints about how Lego has handled the Black Card program. -
Yes, this timeline works. The main contests are set between the Battle of Jakku and the new Resistance show that's airing which is set before Force Awakens. So your main character should be someone who fits in the Factions Era. But we will have plenty of opportunities for you to build in other Eras so you can have multiple supporting characters, even ones set in the past.
-
Hmm, good points. They are supposed to be trees, but not having the full shot does make their inclusion somewhat nebulous.

Keep the questions coming everyone! As goatman has clarified, if you gain 50 IP on a planet you can certainly keep gaining more! The team with the most has control of the planet and 25 more XP is needed to take it over. If that planet has a holocron on it the rules are the same. The first faction to gain 50 IP on a planet will have control of the holocron, but the can loose control is another faction gains 25 IP more. We fully expect those planets to change hands multiple times. We are charting new waters here by allowing the rise and fall of factions on a rolling basis. So eve though we're starting with 6 now, that's just because we had 6 people interested and eligible to start out as faction leaders. If things get really quiet here we could go down to 2 factions, or we could get even more than 6 going. But that's the beauty of the model of Factions!

@goatman461 @LucasLaughing and myself all experienced the judging for AG1. Most of the time the scores made sense, but every now and then there would be a head scratcher. So we've lived through that with you. We've also been judging the MOCs for SoNE for years now, so we also have experience. One thing that will help is the new XP range being 50XP instead of 5XP. This allows for a better range of scores for mid-tier builds that we'll probably see the most of. In AG the range for a mid-tier build was 2-4. I can't promise we'll get it right 100% of the time, but that's why there will always be 3 judges per score. As for customs, this game is about building with Legos. If custom weapons or figs help you flesh out a build better then you are using them correctly! If you just want to display your custom army, then you'll probably not score too well. But the game is about having fun! So participate in whatever way allows you to have the most fun!

Thank you Garmadon! For the curve in the mosaic you mentioned, do you mean a green piece to make the bear paw curved in that corner? Or a grey piece to curve that part of the mosaic? The gaps in the brown plates are architecturally intentional. They don't look great, but they are the only thing bringing tension to all the tiles that make up the wall. Using only tiles still left a small gap so I had to add those "spacers" to keep the whole thing from falling apart. But I may give it another go without the spacers now that I have at least some pictures. The chair piece is this one. It was first used in a Black Panther set as weapons. But I saw it in a 2019 Friends set as a hoop for a dog to jump through. Would you suggest more photos like the first one in this thread? Thank you! You've made some great observations. After so many people have mentioned the mosaic I think I'm going to try to rebuild that section and see what happens.

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

New freebuilds: Survival - Great Hall - -
See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 -What Has Past- Chapter 3 -What Has Past- Chapter 4 -Grevling Manor -House Raising Party -Survival There are many manors and castles through Mitgardia. A land where snow is on the ground more often than not, buildings in this land are built to keep the inhabitants warm. Inside Grevling Manor the lord of Dalig Ulv takes visitors. Today a trio of dwarves from Treacleheim come to inform Wyndor on the progress being made in restoring the dwarven city. Some citizens are taking a reprieve from the bitter cold by eating while others are updating ledgers keeping track of business dealings within Dalig Ulv. The fires blaze hot in the great hall for although it is not yet winter, the temperatures are already cold enough to freeze the whiskers off your face. OoC: I'd love any feedback on this MOC. I'm going to enter it into CCC and if there's anything I should fix before then let me know!

There aren't levels for the specialty skills. What skill you choose is mostly for story telling purposes and we have a few game mechanics you'll see later that are affected by the specialty skills.

See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 -What Has Past- Chapter 3 -What Has Past- Chapter 4 -Grevling Manor -House Raising Party While Wyndor was busy raising houses for the citizens of Dalig Ulv, his brother Chalin was out hunting. It had been a long day and Chalin decided to take a nap. What he didn't know is that he was about to become the hunted. His quick wits saved him and he survived the encounter. OoC: I really wanted to use the new caveman torso and the sabertooth in a Mitgardia build. Using them together in the same build seemed like a good way to go.

Rules have been published! Information on the factions will be coming next week. In the meantime, read up and please ask questions here!

Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules
MKJoshA replied to goatman461's topic in Factions Archive
Other Ways to Earn XP/IP Era Builds Collaboratively build some of your favorite events in Star Wars lore and earn IP for your Faction. To complete an Era Build Challenge you must build 3 MOCs set on that planet in the Era given. All 3 MOCs must be posted together at the beginning of a new thread. Each MOC will be judged as a separate build. You will also receive a bonus for completing the Era Build in the form of an XP and IP bonus equal to the average scores of your 3 MOCs. For example, your 3 MOCs score 8, 5, and 11 respectively. You would earn 24 XP and IP for the three MOCs and 8 XP and IP as your bonus. This would bring the total to 32 XP and IP earned. IP earned by Era Builds may be used on the Era Build System (if the Faction has access to that System) or the Faction Leader may move that IP to a Sector where they already control one System. So if Faction A earns 40 IP from a Era Build on Coruscant, which they can access through a hyperspace lane, Faction Leader A can choose to post that IP to Coruscant, or use it on a planet in a Sector where they already control a System. The intention is to encourage builders to build popular Star Wars events, in lieu of struggling with poorly defined or unattractive planets they need strategically. Faction Leaders MUST post the coordinates of the Transfer System in the Era Build post PRIOR to the builds being judged. Transfers may not be undone or changed once judging begins. If a Faction losses control of their System in the Transfer Sector or the Era Build System, any IP will be forfeited. Each topic should have the appropriate heading of [Sector-Planet-Team][Era] Topic Title. For example: "[R6 - Felucia - CFS][Clone Wars Era] Battle Droid Take-Down". Each person can only complete each Era Build once per planet. But each faction can have as many individuals participate as possible. Members of different factions can collaborate on Era Builds, but IP may only be earned by one Faction (assigned by the heading title). There are currently 3 different Era Build options that have begun to appear on the map: Old Republic: Coruscant-L9 Dagobah-M19 Taris-N7 Alderaan-M10 Manaan-O11 Moraband(Korriban)-R5 Clone Wars: Mustafar-L19 Kamino-S15 Utapau-N19 Naboo-O17 Geonosis-R16 Christophsis-Q16 Felucia-R6 Rebels: Endor-H16 Tatooine-R16 Lothal-U7 Scarif-S15 Mimban-O12 Kessel-T10 Vardos-unspecified (Jinata system, Core Worlds) Hoth-K18 -

Other Details Customs/Third-Party/non-LEGO Parts No clone brands (Megablocks, KREO, etc) are allowed, but 3rd party fig parts and accessories (Brickarms, Citizen Brick, etc.) may be used. However, the judges prefer official LEGO parts and will take into consideration your use of 3rd party pieces when judging for XP. Any overuse or deceptive use may be penalized by the judges. Please specifically avoid the following: Custom parts used to make connections not possible or feasible with official LEGO parts - allowing customs is mostly meant to allow a few more minifigure accessory and lighting choices, not to give anybody a building advantage Colors outside of LEGO's color palette Builds that focus on the custom material instead of the LEGO build - we don't want to see your custom figbarfs Heavily customized minifigures - the majority of any minifigure's parts should be official LEGO parts Any especially offensive material (see EU guidelines) Members You Should Know MKJoshA, BEAVeR, LucasLaughing, Goatman461 FAQs Q: Do I have to participate in every episode/challenge? A: No. We know everyone has other responsibilities and commitments as well, both on and off of EB. Q: Do I have to post a story with every build? A: No. Sometimes builds can stand alone and tell their own story. Don't feel like you have to post an elaborate backstory, just tell the story with your bricks and add any text you feel is appropriate. Q: Can I post a digital MOC? A: As a free build, yes. (You can also do free builds in whatever scale you like.) In an episode, you have to follow the rules of the episode, which may or may not allow digital builds. Q: Do I have to create a sig fig? A: No. You MAY create a sig fig, or you may introduce a new character with each build. Q: What time period is SONE 2 in? A: After RotJ, before TFA. At least for the map movements. Builds can take place during any time period -

All the guards in the prelim pictures have skirts. It's because they are prelim. Remember how the Jedi battle pack had Coleman Trebor instead of Ki-Adi-Mundi? -
