  1. I've added another picture with a different base. Let me know what you think.
  2. I've never gotten a scratched minifig, but I know the quality is pretty bad. I heard that it's because they come from the China end of Lego and not the traditional factories. I picked up the Roman Commander and took the arms off to replace them with different ones. The arms I took out are now so loose they are useless to use on any minifigure. I took the hands out to try to at least salvage those and they won't fit right in any arm. I haven't complained to Lego because I still got the torso I wanted, but it's pretty bad publicity for Lego to keep selling sub-standard minifigs, even if they are amazing new designs.
  3. Waiting for my Legos to show up from the post office.

  4. Yeah, that's the weakest point of the story. You just have to trust that Varl is super quiet and that the un-dead have bad hearing
  5. They are a little blocky. I have a limited selection of white plates so I tried to make do. I was pretty set on using plates because I wanted that effect, but the overall build does suffer because of it. That's a sweet looking dragon so far! Can't wait to see the finished product! Thanks for noticing! If I may match your compliment with one: I love your use of Exo-Force heads for your minifigures.
  6. Same road, different section (I knew someone would mention that) I'm actually not sure if I'll continue on with the other phases for this one. I just really wanted to build this cart so I though I might as well enter it into AoM as well. Thanks! I got the rolling pin idea from the upcoming French Restaurant set.
  7. Thanks! I meant to add the colors on my Store Cart too, but they somehow managed to not make it into the pictures. Funny how pieces tend to do that... I'm real excited to begin building the 2nd phase!
  8. Thanks Jacob, I also admire how your freebuilds have told 1 continuous story so far. I wanted to see what kind of effect and reaction a "model" type stand had on a Lego build. I guess I'm getting my answer though "boat" is not what I thought I'd hear :) I'll see about putting some traditional terrain underneath it and post a 2nd picture. Thanks for all the feedback guys!
  9. Near Abyssian, Lord Ssilyrrlith prepares for war against Lord Raavage by building dozens of garrisons around his fortress in the swamp. These garrisons house hundreds of soldiers and recruits, and are guarded by all manner of un-dead or vile creatures. At the postern gate of one of these garrisons a lone human waits until the guard's back is turned, picks the lock, and slips inside. Varl the Poisoner has been hired by Lord Raavage to do as much damage as possible to the growing army. Varl had been disfigured during an accident involving the wrong mixture of ingredients for a potion he was working on. This only caused his hatred for all living things to increase and he willing took on any jobs that allowed him to take vengeance on all around him. He slipped a few drops of his own poison brew into the entire drink supply of the garrison and smiled a grim sort of smile. The only one, in fact, that his face allowed him to now. He knew that this was one garrison that would never fight against Lord Raavage. See more pictures at My Flickr
  10. I've been sharing my story with many of the Rebels. However, it seems like I am one of the only ones. I think our team needs more participation!
  11. I decided I wanted a title so here are my first entries to AoM: Store Phase I: Here Gatehouse Phase I: Here
  12. This is my entry for Phase I of the Gatehouse category for Age of Mitgardia. Even a small road needs to be gated sometimes to prevent travelers from entering private land. Olaf the dwarf has found that a simple log gate sends that message to passing travelers.
  13. This is my entry for Phase I of the Store category for Age of Mitgardia. Otar is a traveling sales man of the north. He carries his cart from village to village buying, selling, and trading. He has a wide range of supplies from shields to rolling pins. He avoids trading in weapons so as not to become a target to malcontents looking for arms. Traveling is dangerous these days in Mitgardia. You never know if you might get attacked by bandits, Nocturnians, or other vile creatures.
  14. OoC: See the rest of the story: First They Came For the Qwohogs A Brother's Work Is Never Done A Night At Hao's The Breakout It wasn't hard slipping past the guard. It's a wonder the Empire is able to hold on to any of it's prisoners. I had even heard a rumor that before the Death Star blew up, a high level security prisoner just walked out of the detention block. I don't know how much truth there is to that story, but my experience tonight leaves me with more faith in the story. Using the power of the stormtrooper armor I commandeered a parked speeder and Yeoman and I took off for the nearest spaceport. It wasn't the most subtle way to get out of town, but it was certainly faster than taking an older model landspeeder. MKJoshA: You're probably wondering why I broke you out of prison. Yeoman: The thought had crossed my mind, yes. MKJoshA: I heard you might be the guy to talk to if I wanted to join the Rebels. Yeoman: You broke the law and put yourself forever on the Empire's bad side for the chance that I might be able to tell you about the Rebel Alliance? You must be crazier than I thought! MKJoshA: I've never been one for mediocre actions. Yeoman: What's in it for me? MKJoshA: If you really are a Rebel, I'll take you anywhere in the galaxy to meet up with them. I've got some credits saved up that can buy us passage on a freighter. Yeoman: You're in luck MKJoshA. I've decided you're trust worthy enough. I am a part of the Alliance. Take me to these coordinates and we'll contact them with my transponder. I was expecting a mission briefing tonight so we should be able to get in touch with them. I glanced at the coordinates and turned the speeder towards the hills. I sure hope I know what I just got myself into. OoC: Please judge as a freebuild. UPDATE: Here is an alternative base. It was a random idea floating around in my head so I put it into reality. Not super great, but maybe it'll keep the speeder from looking like a boat.
  15. Thanks for the tips. I feel that each time my builds get better, but there is always more to improve. As for the way the doors open. I keep wondering the same thing :)
  16. I, Wyndor, will tell you my story. It all began when my youngest brother finished his year with the clans as his right of passage to manhood. We called him Tagaler since he used to always follow us everywhere. He would get to choose his own name after he finished his right of passage. He and another boy from Vaholl had made it on their own for a year in the north as is the custom of our people. My father, Graham, left him in the care of one of the Great Elk clans in a village north-west of Teridyan. My brothers and I traveled to the clan to celebrate Tagaler's success and his passing to manhood. The roads were safe to travel at this time for Victor Revolword had not yet begun his reign of terror. Little did we know, he was nearing his first goal: possesion of Helm of the Druid Priest. When we arrived we heard that an ice-dragon had been spotted by Tagaler during his year amongst the clan. This gave Tagaler a rare opportunity. If he could, in view of the village elder, slay the dragon, he would have special honors and privileged amongst the clans for as long as he lived. Not being one to allow such an opportunity to pass Tagaler agreed wholeheartedly to take on the dragon. Myself, and my two brothers were allowed to accompany Tagaler to ensure his safety. We were allowed to take special spears the clansmen used for events such as this as our only weapons. They were designed to drive the dragon away if danger was near, but would not allow us to cause the dragon any harm. Only Tagaler would be allowed to harm and kill the dragon. We did not doubt that he possessed the ability to win against the ice-dragon and left with much anticipation. Tagaler performed splendidly. He ran to and fro amongst the snow and the dragon chased him. Whenever the dragon came to close to us we drove him away with our spears. Once or twice the dragon made as if to fly and try to strike from the air, but Tagaler had learned well from his time on his own and he ran towards the dragon presenting too easy of a target for the dragon to want to fly. The chase would begin anew those times, but not before Tagaler managed to stab the dragon's wings multiple times. Eventually the dragon made a stand by a frozen stream and Tagaler went to face him. We could tell this was the end of the fight. Both parties were tired and could not keep up the battle much longer. At that moment Victor unleashed elemental monsters across Historica. One of them sprung from the frozen river and created a whirlwind of ice, water, and snow. Through squinted eyes I could see every member of our party being blown in different directions. What happened next I do not know for I woke up much later and much farther away. We would never find out if Tagaler would have slain the ice-dragon. In fact, there are many things I'm sure I'll never find out.
  17. OoC: See the previous free builds to understand the story - First They Came For the Qwohogs A Brother's Work Is Never Done A Night At Hao's As I closed up Hao's all I could think about was the Qwohog I saw being arrested and how corrupt the Empire was. The Emperor was obviously insane. Only a madman would condone the destruction of a planet like Alderaan. The Empire might cause order in the galaxy, but certainly not peace. It was time for me to stop only voicing my opinions to my brother in the shop and time to take some action. I knew that if I didn't act right away I might lose my nerve. I thought about going to the Diktat and offering my service in starting a rebellion of the Five Brothers against the Empire but I knew that the Diktat was too self serving. He might not like the Empire and resist the mandatory services, but he would never go into all out rebellion. That left only one other option. I needed to find someone associated with the Rebel Alliance. That thought brought back a memory of something I overheard my brother say at Hao's: "You know that farmer they brought in today? Well I guess the Colonel is pretty happy about. Turns out he's got ties to the Rebels..." I stole back home and sneaked into my brother's closet. I pulled his Stormtrooper armor out and headed towards the base where the Qwohog was being kept prisoner. I didn't really have a plan. I just knew I had to act. I got into the base using my bother's access codes. He was never very good about logging off his terminal at home and I was also nosy. Since it was late there were only a couple guards on duty. They were bored and tired and didn't bother to wonder about one more stormtrooper on patrol. I walked past the prison guard and said, "Prisoner transfer at this hour, can you believe it?" He was too busy watching a holovid to answer so I walked past him towards the cells. I noticed a prisoner list on one of the guard's screens that listed the "new arrival" as being in the 2nd cell. As I opened the cell door I looked back at the guard. He still wasn't paying me any attention so I took my helmet off and whispered to the Qwohog, "What's your name? "Yeoman."He answered. "Yeoman, you are going to have to trust me. We are going to get you out of here." OoC: Please judge and comment!
  18. Just incredible! I too love the skeleton. And I completely understand the mood change because of Game of Thrones. Those books took me on a roller-coaster of emotions.
  19. Wish I could afford this beautiful set! Definitely my favorite of the modular buildings so far. Thanks for a great review!
  20. My only critic would be the choice of printed tiles. The Harry Potter Quibler, the John Hancock, and the Eiffel Tower really don't belong. The other points about the cold gear and the bright red box are valid too, though other than that this is an amazing build!
  21. In spite of you being on the Empire's side, I have to say that this is one of the best entries.
  22. The speeder reminds me of a Star Trek ship. I love it!
  23. Looks like somebody's been to the Pick-A-Brick wall at Lego :)
  24. I got it from the Pirate Brickmaster DK Book/Set though I know it's used in other nondescript settings within different Lego themes (Pirates, City, Castle, etc.)
  25. Not a huge fan of the explicit scene on the Vigilant, but other than that these are great! Your story is really good too. I know I'm not the only one who wants Marla to still be alive somehow!
