El Bucanero Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Hate to say it, but I think I like the design of this imposter one better then the real Emperors Ship... So there's a difference? Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 cool, buy it looks like one of the sets from lego adventures! ;-) Quote
Mile85 Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 that's a bit high price.. maybe for a 400dollars.. How much you guys, are willing to pay for that ship? Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Guys, come on, thats the BUY IT NOW price. It should always be higher than the actual accepted price. It is not a bad MOC, sure some things aren't great, like the sails, but that's TLC's fault, they made up unrealistic sails in the first place. I think you should ask always for a high figure, you never know, there might be some extremely rich kid out there to whom money is no big deal. I'm considering making MOCs to sell in future. Quote
Scouty Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I'm sorry, but the only option of a BIN is still way to much. If you see here, an RBR now would cost like, $100-150. Twenty figs, $190. All the extra pieces, $280-300. I'd pay about $300 for it, if I had the money. I'm not saying it's a bad moc, it looks good, just not enough to pay $600 for it :-( . Quote
Captain Roger Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 the ships isterrible but the captain minifig and weapons are really cool Quote
oo7 Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I'm surprised Lego hasn't sued all these brands to their death. They certainly have tried. These companies are definately breaking patents but in China with their strict Communist government and all some companies just ignore the patents from other countries, and then when they are sued (which the making of the arragments is near impossible on Lego's part) they fail to appear in court, thus Lego wins a default action ordering the destruction of any pirated items. SEE? We have sooooooooo many threads like this, and I find myself saying the same thing over and over. http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=6192 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=5748 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=1345 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=6896 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=6246 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=4480 http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...p?showtopic=459 And the list is not over. Scouty Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Oh yeah, I did post the link a while ago, I forgot about that X-D . I have seen most all of those, I just hope these copy brands come to their up-most destruction, it's not right to copy ones idea, and if anything happens(injured child) because of the clone-company, they might think that it was Lego and sue them, or other sort of nastiness. Governor Mister Phes Posted January 15, 2007 Governor Posted January 15, 2007 The auction has ended and someone purchased the set. Does anybody know if this particular brand has decent quality, or is it inferior like the majority of knock offs? Quote
Scouty Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I'm sure it's with the majority. Not even MegaBloks has the quality of lego, what chance do these knock-offs have of good quaity? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 16, 2007 Governor Posted January 16, 2007 You've raised a really good point there ImperialScouts, because these imitators are just trying to cash in on LEGO's success by reproducing the design with cheap materials. Quote

Megablox hurt like hell (no cussing?) when they are stepped on |-/ -l2k- Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 16, 2007 Governor Posted January 16, 2007 So does LEGO though... At least it has less chance of breaking X-D Well the solid bricks that is. The more specialised parts are still doomed. Quote
Chuck Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 So does LEGO though... At least it has less chance of breaking X-D Well the solid bricks that is. The more specialised parts are still doomed. Yeah, but megablox are sharper. -l2k- Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 16, 2007 Governor Posted January 16, 2007 You should conduct tests. With your left foot stamp on a MegaBlok, with your right foot stamp on LEGO stand on a LEGO brick and then compare the pain :-P Quote
Chuck Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 You should conduct tests. With your left foot stamp on a MegaBlok, with your right foot stamp on LEGO stand on a LEGO brick and then compare the pain :-P Well Phes, judging from the clone-brand inflicted wounds on my left foot, I would say LEGO is the brand to step on ;-) Now, for the second test, we get an emo kid and ask him which one makes more efective slits on the rist. -l2k- Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted January 16, 2007 Governor Posted January 16, 2007 Mr Lego2000 you've thrown a whole new light on marketing construction toys to a demographic I presumed it wasn't possible to market construction toys to! Quote
ZCerberus Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Mr Lego2000 you've thrown a whole new light on marketing construction toys to a demographic I presumed it wasn't possible to market construction toys to! Hmm... I am not sure that was appropriate, to condone such a suggestion, the intentionally slitting your wrists part... Anyhow, from the review sites I have seen, the quality of the plastic is inferior, and the pictures on the boxes, don't necessarily end up being the parts inside in terms of patterns or colors. The chrome gun, for example, might end up being black instead, etc. Also, Lego has tried to stop importation in several places of the knock-offs for countries that have copyright and patent protection similar to the US and Europe (and Australia I would presume) but if these laws are not enforced where the sets are made, they can copy all they want... hence the knock-offs mad in China. As for the knock-off set itself, I do appreciate the chrome pistol, and the hat, and I do think we need more small ships like this in our forums here, but I think we need to make them out of Legos, and not buy the inferior garbage. Quote
Scouty Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 NO PLASTIC BRICK IS SAFE TO STEP ON!!!!! NEVER!!!! They all hurt like just any other :capn: . In terms of Lego, they'll be dandy fine when stepped on, they're hard things to break. Imitators on the other hand... I can't see any Lego element breaking, unless it was really thin and easily bendible and breakable, like the long antenna pieces. Quote
Norrington Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Yeah, but megablox are sharper. Wrongo.Lego has sharper edges, where as mega bloks have rounded edges. Now, for the second test, we get an emo kid and ask him which one makes more efective slits on the rist. :( 8-o X-O Not Ok. That is a serious problem with ones mind, and not something to be joked about. I agree with Zcerebus that that is not ok. Quote

I agree with Zcerebus that that is not ok. eh, i thought the emo joke was funny! some ofthe knock offs look really good in pictures.. like Coko and Crazy shop have neat original looking pirate ships... but i think they are of inferior quality... if i could find one dirt cheap i would buy to find out. Coko by far had the pest pirates series... their hulls were 2 part so you could extend them, and large sized in black. the rigging was a direct rip off of lego so it looked sturdy. I wish lego would see that pirates are a viable theme again..... look at all the knock offs and mainstream competitors.... all with pirates line. Quote
Capn Frank Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I'm really sure China doesn't ever obey the international copyright laws because of their communist type of economy. Quote
Norro Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 In a thread on cc someone has been planning to sell off an old lego collection. I didn't pay much attention until I saw this photo. Thought you lads may be interested. The cc thread... Just thought I would post a heads up in case anyone wants to charm this guy ;-) God Bless, Nathan Quote
Scouty Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 All the pirate ships in one convienent place :-P . Out of my price range, but thanks for sharing! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 3, 2007 Governor Posted February 3, 2007 I don't think that image is too big to be posted in the thread a couple of posts down... Easy for me to say, but what do those with lower resolutions think? And yes, I' interested but no I shan't be buying. Quote
