Capn Frank Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 You do realise that you posted the same MOC twice to 2 diffrent threads? That was my fault. I liked the ship so much i split this topic not realizing Wes had made his thread. Everything should be fixed now. Quote
Wes Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 One post is for the ship discussion, and the one in this thread was so it would be added to the index. Quote
Joey Lock Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 That was my fault.I liked the ship so much i split this topic the same time Wes made his thread. Everything should be fixed now. Firstly, 700th post! Woo me! Yeah, I wondered about that, I posted this in the other topic and it sent me to a 9 paged thread! One post is for the ship discussion, and the one in this thread was so it would be added to the index. You do not need two diffrent threads, if the discussion thread has pictures on it will be added to the Index. Only Frontpage News needs two diffrent threads I think. Quote
Capn Frank Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 One post is for the ship discussion, and the one in this thread was so it would be added to the index. Don't worry Wes. If you make a topic for your ship, we'll put it in the Ship Index. Thanx for making sure we'll index it though. Quote

I'm assuming I missed the part where you became a moderator... don't do again what you did please. Firstly, 700th post! Woo me! And also stop posting stuff like this! Thanks! Quote

Here's the thread if anyone would like to comment on it. I didn't see it in the Index either; I'll add it right away (unless B finds it ) Thanx again Wes Quote

Balsa wood isn't lego, i'd like to see it, but i don't think it belongs in the index. Quote
RTN LNA Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Might I be so bold as to suggest that the MOC ships index be sorted by ship type. here are sailing ship types. (note all of these thumbs are public domain) Sloop: a Bermuda or gaff rigged Cutter: like a sloop with two jibs (a staysail and a yankee) Yawl: like a sloop or catboat with a mizzen mast. Ketch. Catboat: a sailboat with a single mast and single sail, usually gaff-rigged. Schooner: a fore-and-aft rig having at least two masts. Topsail Schooner: a fore-and-aft rig having at least two masts, and with square topsail on the foremast. Brig (short for Brigantine): two masts, both square-rigged with a spanker on the mainmast. Hermaphrodite Brigantine: two masts, square-rigged on the foremast and fore-and-aft rigged on the mainmast. Barquentine: is a three masted vessel, square rigged on the foremast and fore-and-aft rigged on the main and mizzen masts. Barque: three masts or more, square rigged on all except the aftmost mast. "Fully Rigged Ship" or Frigate: three or more masts, square rigged on all. I would subdivide "Fully Rigged Ship" types by size/lenght Xebec, Bragana or felucca: a classic in the Mediterranean or Indian Ocean. Three lateen sails in a row. Junk: the standard Chinese design with Elliptical sails. I would add a class for Sailing Steamships and another one for ironclads and monitors minis and CADs??? This sorting I would find more useful than the current unsorted "pile". kurt Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 21, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 21, 2008 Might I be so bold as to suggest that the MOC ships index be sorted by ship type. Thanks for starting to sort the MOC ships in your new Index! I think this is a wonderful idea. Quote
RTN LNA Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Thanks for starting to sort the MOC ships in your new Index! I think this is a wonderful idea. Thanks! I created a spread sheet with 1A, 1B, ... 65C named them then sorted the spread sheet, now I am making each type a separate post and linking the both the name and image in the first overview post to it. Is there a way to make a reply and make it make a new post? not just add it to the last post you posted. I found some broken links, starting 42B, 47C, 47D, 48A, 48B, etc. isn't 16A and 23A the same ship? kurt Quote
exotrator Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I'd love to have my 12-pounder and Ribauldequin design added... Here's a LINK to the topic. Thanks, ~Exo Quote

SlyOwl Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Good work! It turns out that my latest update to the index didn't save, so I've re-added a couple of ships on the end, after 65c. Would it be a good idea to have some sort of naming system between the two indices? For example, if you give each of the ship types a number, and each ship under that category gets a reference code (for example two letters), then the resulting name will be (for example): 65a12cg, where 65a is the ship's number in the unsorted index, 12 is the ship type, and cg is the number of that ship in that ship type (in this case, the equivalent of 59). Maybe it's too much work, but may be worth considering. I found some broken links, starting 42B, 47C, 47D, 48A, 48B, etc.isn't 16A and 23A the same ship? I've fixed those - thanks for the heads-up It's some sort of glitch that breaks all the links by adding in extra http:// and "" everywhere And yes, it looks like they are Although that is someone else's fault Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 22, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 22, 2008 SlyOwl seems to have answered most of the questions already. What would we do without him Is there a way to make a reply and make it make a new post? ot just add it to the last post you posted. Yes, there's a timeout of 20 min. If you "double post" within that timeframe your consecutive posts will be merged automatically. If you wait longer than 20 min no merging will be done. Quote
SlyOwl Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I'd love to have my 12-pounder and Ribauldequin design added... Here is a link to a custom cannon that I made: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/77114 Welcome aboard! It's not a matter of "qualifying", you'll be added when I have time - and can be bothered! Quote

RTN LNA Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) Done up to 67B You might add a link to this sorted-by thread in the pined Indexes post like: Index: Ship MOCs sorted by ship type The most "sordid" pirate index ever!!! issues 1: I am having a problem typing the following ships I can't find a picture of them rigged 31B 36A 49A 57C 57D 62B 63D 64D 65A 2: The RTS Legitor is not indexed Kurt's ship MOCs I want to add it to monitors. 3: I know of other interesting ships out there in the web, what's the procedure? 4: Please if any of my links don't work let me know. 5: If you think I have miss-typed a ship, please reply here and tell me what I didn't see, best if you can add a link to a picture that shows that point. enjoy kurt Edited December 23, 2008 by RTN LNA (Lego Naval Architect) Quote
Wes Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 (edited) Please consider moving 15D and 56C (currently under Sloop: Bermuda Rigged) to a separate category for non-seafaring vessels. They\'re very out-of-place amongst all the \"normal,\" pirate-era ships and craft. Also, almost all of the ships in the Polacca section are actually galleons. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galleon http://images.google.com/images?q=galleon The 6286 SES is a good example of a Galleon. Edited December 23, 2008 by Wes Quote
