Nightstalker Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Quick question: how do I establish a city? Do I need to pull up the map of Kaliphlin and mark where I'm building it (hopefully the micro MOC will be made this week)?
Mike S Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Quick question: how do I establish a city? Do I need to pull up the map of Kaliphlin and mark where I'm building it Yes that is how it is done.
robuko Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Sir James, wonderful to have you join us. A big welcome to you and to your legendary sword. Have a pitcher of mead with us and tell us more of your tale. Quick question: how do I establish a city? Do I need to pull up the map of Kaliphlin and mark where I'm building it (hopefully the micro MOC will be made this week)? You are welcome to establish a city in a location of your choice and you are also welcome to build in any of the Free Cities (Petraea, Qarkyr, Ras-al Akhen etc) if you wish. SkaForHire Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 So, before I went on my trip I said to Masa, "I hope everything doesn't blow up over the weekend..." It looks like it did! First This is going to be a community story build where the participants are tasked with building a MOC, any size of your choosing depicting the finding or gathering of one of the ingredients necessary for the potion. If you wish to participate, please post a pic of your participating hero in this thread by the 17th of August. I plan to then post a second MOC depicting the gathered heroes as they discuss the ingredients needed for the potion. The ingredients then will be finalized and the participants will be free to build their MOC depicting their hero braving the wildernesses of their homeland in search of one of the ingredients. Awesome to see the first part got up, second part should be up tomorrow, while the third will probably got up Friday. This is a big, intertwining community project that I hope we will see many of you all (and other guilds) join. Forgot to post here: Part 1 of my introduction builds for Djun Ko-Sun Imperial Garden Link: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=85468 Very nice! I hope to get caught up in order to comment on the thread soon! Your builds are looking better and better. Sir James of the port of Messahmuk. Has a small castle and a magical sword of the 1000 voices. Don't think it is easy wielding a magical artifact that talks back to you. Sir James has tried to loose his sword as many times as it has talked to him. It will start to float behind him and smack him in the head if he leaves it behind. He once let it smack him for a week before taking it again. He is followed by a rescued slave Robert and his loyal companion dogs Fargo and Brody. He likes to kill bandits to rescue merchant gold to keep his extravagent life style. (I hope I did his introduction right). Sir James, welcome to the guild. Messahmuk's current ruler is MIA (He should be back eventually though, he was the one who designed all the maps), perhaps you will consider being it's voice on the Council of Lords and Traders until he returns? You also might want to set out and take your own town or city eventually. There are many ruler-less areas in Kaliphlin.

Mike S Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 It has become rather quiet in here again... Everyone out enjoying the warm weather?
Kai NRG Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 It has become rather quiet in here again... Everyone out enjoying the warm weather? Warm whether? It's been hitting 50 Fahrenheit down here... and that's inside. Anyway, it does seem to be getting quiet. What exactly are we planning on doing about the council thing? From what I can tell, it's still feasible despite the new developments, but if we just let it rest I don't think much is going to happen...
Mike S Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 Anyway, it does seem to be getting quiet. What exactly are we planning on doing about the council thing? From what I can tell, it's still feasible despite the new developments, but if we just let it rest I don't think much is going to happen... Well to be honest, we already have a natural formed council seeing we already have a group discussion going ironically on the subject of a council. However, I did converse a bit with ZC about Si-MOCs replacement. As it seems that Si-MOCs will not be continuing his official leadership position of Kaliphlin during Book 2 (we can still keep Flagg around as in game leader) there will most likely be someone taking his place as the plan for book two is to have the three guild "leaders" whose guilds are not the home of the action will be doing the judging. I gave my opinion on who I thought would make a good replacement and I think it might help with the decision making process if you messaged ZC your opinions as well.
Maxim I Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I think someone of us has to make a thread called: "Council of Kaliphlin", where the possible Council Members can post their High Lord and so on If there will ever be a rebellion, the Council can be the 'good' guys I would say that Ska, Masa or Kai will be the best choice as replacement for the official leader. They are here already a really long time, they are from the US (so they don't have the language barrier) and they are really active as well The first action when the Council is formed, is founding that city in the North-East of the Great Escarpment :classic:
SkaForHire Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I was thinking about that city yesterday. Whichever person takes over leadership, I think the first guild challenge should be the new city. That would be a good unifier, especially for some of the new people or anyone that might switch sides. You all are right, we already have a natural council, that has been refereed to many times before I brought it up. I just thought it was a good time to solidify it. Additionally, whoever does become guild leader, as long as it is one of us currently, will probably respect the opinions of everyone here and run the guild as more of a loose democracy (as we do now), as that has been the nature of it so far. As for who should be leader in my opinion, Masa, Kai, and DM get my votes, but I do feel qualified too, and would enjoy doing it, if that is the decision. DM makes a good point about language, and I could understand if he didn't want to be GL because of it.
kabel Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Ska, I think you'd make an awesome Kaliphlin leader!!
Kayne Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 It has become rather quiet in here again... Everyone out enjoying the warm weather? Sorry....I've just been busy with work and such. This suffered a bit, and I haven't built anything in quite a while. But I am still reading every day here!
Nightstalker Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Sorry about the quietness on my behalf, been working on finishing another floor of my guildhouse; hopefully I'll have it finished up this week so I can make my micro-city of New Sol City. I even have a location for it, just need a design.
Gideon Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) Sorry for being so inactive in this thread, almost all my brick time since finishing the MAC entry has been devoted to preparing (read: sorting) for a LUG build due in October. The only actual building I've been able to do has been a frustrating attempt at producing a decent half-timber facade in that castle. I already long to be finished with it and get back to building in tan! Edited August 12, 2013 by Gideon
ZCerberus Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 A note on the core spot... it will likely reduce some of your building time as there will be administrative duties to handle as well. I personally think the core spot should be a high priority, so hopefully the core people will get something going soon.

Edit: I mean, how would the average Kaliphlin be able to have a say in who becomes the core leader at this stage? How soon are we looking to have a core leader? (Sorry if it came off a bit snappy at first, that wasn't how I intended it.) Edited August 12, 2013 by Kai NRG
Mike S Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 What exactly would you suggest as a way to "get something going"? I think he is talking about the current core which would be rog, ecc, and ZC...
ZCerberus Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Sorry Kai, I meant hopefully one of the OTHER Core Leaders (rogueang or Ecclesiastes) will get something together soon. I think he is talking about the current core which would be rog, ecc, and ZC... Yes, that is what I meant!
gedren_y Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 gedren_y hasn't the drive for administrative duties. Sdair Zuuree is the personal guardsman for the Minister of External Affairs, Aturl Prndrn. Minister Prndrn will gladly offer the Nesltands Clans' positions on trade and governance to a Kaliphlin Council of Trade Lords. We haven't the need for much influence beyond trade deals for our goods, so an actual seat is not necessary. Either of our major trade partners, Lord Damaximus or Lord Erudhalion Sansael, will be welcome representatives.
Kai NRG Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Sorry Kai, I meant hopefully one of the OTHER Core Leaders (rogueang or Ecclesiastes) will get something together soon... Ah, I see. I wasn't quite sure from the way it was phrased...
