  1. Actually there is a special forum dedicated to MOCers where the bests are supposely hidding, exchanging tips on how to build better MOCs. But you have to be invited to register. As for the Mocs, yes we do not focus on this, but neither on the collecting aspect. In fact we've never focussed on anything else than creating a place where people don't get insulted and can share their interest in this wonderfull hobby. We are also more focussed on the global european AFOL population, and in contrary to 1000steine, we use a more accessible language (Deutsch is sehr schwer...) back on Lugnet, I think the fact it's aimed at some sort of elitist MOCers (even if it wasn't the initial intention) can only bring problem, most of them having a terrible ego. I think MOC related things should be left to brickshelf : no comments, only the model itself, and eventually a small note from the creator, or a subfolder explaining the technique used.
  2. I am lacking a serious amount of starwars references here
  3. (photoshop)
  4. I have to disagree with the 'we will offense those people blabla'. Damn, can't you create whatever you want ? This is humour ! Nothing more.
  5. Well we almost all do have this kind of minifig heads... *sweet*
  6. Is a close up of the weapons possible ? And also, how many of those do you get in the set ?
  7. I don't think SNOT is the ultimate solution. After all, lego is about studs, those are essential to the toy and I like having some studs appearing. I think it's like everything, it's good when used if necessary.
  8. I agree about the females. I started to offer lego sets to my niece and I'm already wandering what sets i'll be able to buy for her. I mean system sets. No girls. One leia lost somewhere in an extremely expensive set. No princess to save in a castle. Nothing ! I think it's easy to say "our core markets are our core market and girls aren't interested into bricks". Yeah, now that there's no girls, they won't, for sure. I'd also be really interested on how can Lego say girls aren't buying lego bricks. Based on what survey, how was it done, and when ? Lego are selling to supermarket/toyshops. I don't think they can have a good view on their final market...
  9. masterchief... again... banned... again...
  10. I was a fan of the UFO sets actually. I really liked the helmets and the cool fibre optics. But I was really much into Blacktron/mtron space police and ICE Planet. Those were cool sets *sing* No boundries? There are no boundries with any line of LEGO product. Just because the box says Star Wars, Exo Force, Harry Potter or Knight's Kingdom doesn't mean you are limited by what you can build. As Sting observed, Star Wars provides tons of bricks that are useful in MOCing a Spaceship/station of your own design. There are hundreds of original non-Star Wars torsos and heads out there which can easily be used to make a colourful crew of astronauts. I guess I can understand that some people feel some nostalgia for the lines they grew up with, but to suggest that a licence actually hampers what you build is beyond comprehension. Bricks are just bricks. Many can be used for any MOC in any theme. The one thing Star Wars does give spacers more than any other line is a steady flow of bricks that can easily be incorporated into an awsome array of Space MOCs. And that's a good thing, isn't it? Later. Actually, everything was done for the kids to be creative on the old lego sets : alternate models, huge displays of lego sets into the catalogues. Now they only present the models one by one, no alternative model is proposed on the back of the booklet *wacko*
  11. It depends on the set up for each forum. We have mixed the different forum together so many times that it can be hard to follow. We put the rule of the 30 days topics because some members were still bumping really old threads
  12. I think that the blue color is quite effective, even though that's pretty unrealistic. But Lego is all about creativity and it shows that various colors can be nice if they are used in a good way. After all you can't always use white for your buildings...
  13. closed, now it's april 2nd
  14. I'll invite Steve to have a look at this thread. I for one, am always amazed by comments like : 'it didn't sell well'... Well yes, comparred to a star wars licence, a lot of product don't sell well *sad* I wish they could work more on the rentability of their lines instead of volume of sales :-( :-( The adventurers are a really cool theme, they allow to build a lot of other stuff out from it : museum, ancient egypt and such. Not to mention they are the only ones that allow you to create stargate MOCs *y* As for stargate, everytime I asked a lego Rep about this, they said it wasn't as big as Starwars so out of quetsion for now. Sometimes I wish the Starwars licence didn't exist because it's clearly killing the imagination of the Lego company ( a long time ago, lego toys were supposed to developp creativity )
  15. Well the new train system looks as real to me as the old one lol. I'm not worried at all by the change in fact. I have load of 9v tracks, 3 9v trains, and I'm ready to go on witht he new system. The tracks are compatible, and I hope they'll release battery packs to convert my old trains. Now my main concern is what they are going to do with the new system. It would be cool if they could release light, automatic road crossings and this kind of stuff (that existed before the 9v system)
  16. Would it be possible to see this larger scene ? *sweet*
  17. TLC rep acting like politicians ? naaahh that would NEVER happen. Maybe we could ask Steve about this, he is our own dedicated Lego Rep after all. As for the 9v system, I think the real problem is that the 9V system is only used in the train sets today. Years ago, they were poping up into city and space and of course, technic sets. I think that if they usde the infra red in other themes, then it'll be a good move, but I'm afraid they won't *sad*
  18. I am pretty sure that a fair amount of could create the actual model with the bricks they have (at east I could). But Eight months... that's a lot ! I think I'd prefer creating those in using ldraw for now, you can build things like that in a much faster way *sweet*
  19. I think Lugnet will end up by a lack of new members one day. Nobody understand how it works anymore, it seems pretty messy and not really user friendly. I think most of the newcomer afols will prefer smaller websiets and forums. I think there's one thing missing on Lugnet : the powerfull admins that kick megablocks :P As for the torture chamber, yes we do have an hidden forum called like that... For special purpose only >:-)
  20. I had another april fool before reading this one so I wasn't caught *skull* I agree on Lego not able to render the boobs correctly. Maybe they could create something molded to add on the MF torso :-P
  21. If you're up in the 80's temperature wise you have a problem anyways ;-) A standard PC ("office-like" work, no powerful gfx cards or CPUs or HDs) shouldn't produce too much heat... I only pc designed for 3d programming *skull* This might explain...
  22. I have the same questions regarding the heat. When a processor heat can go up to 80 degrees, I'm not sure if the lego bricks can handle this :-/
  23. It makes sense since the pre cited product called "oxi action" is to revert the effect of the oxidation process on the materials, including plastic. Don't ask me the exact chemical process, but everyone who used it told me it was worth the try on the lego bricks since it worked for them (plastic garden furniture and such). So I might try soon and I'll tell you of it's worth the investment What does that comment exactly refers to ? *wacko*
  24. The software section at ldraw.org provides a link toa software that allows you to create your own patterns. There are also special pieces packages that aren't validated yet on other websites, but I'll let Apo developp this option
  25. Well the choice for the sails ruin the whole thing IMO. They should have make custom ones instead ! >:-(
