  1. Well throughout history tons of ships have been renamed... but talk to my Spanish, they are the ones who did it! I just couldn't take the name "Arbiter" away from my main flagship.
  2. Heh, they are not paper. They are canvas! The stuff is just so rigid that it looks paper-y, but it is a cloth like material. it sure is white!
  3. Yes much better, and it certainly could be wider, i guess that is the drawback of trying to make a large ship on the narrow standard hulls. *sigh* I guess seeing this ship makes me appreciate the Arbiter II more! I don't think I will be getting around to working on it for quite some time! Ha! I might have to revisit this ship sometime later.
  4. Thank Mr Moderator! I think I am more inclined to work on the second thing on the list right now, expanding the fortress capabilities of Fort Brighton. Well to be fair to me, I was separated from my Legos since December. Wasted? Did Germany waste a bottle of champaign when it launched the Bismarck? You never waste a bottle of champaign when you launch a flagship my man! *y* :-D
  5. Well I have several ideas... 1) I have 3, narrow dark gray hulls... I was thinking of making 2 schooners, one for the Imperials, and one for the Pirates, and then a small sloop or hoy for the Pirates as they are vastly out gunned right now. These ships would not be nearly as grand as the Arbiter II, but they would help make pirates competative... maybe. 2) It occurs to me that Fort Brighton is more of a Harbor than a fort. I don't think it could fend off the Arbiter II and probably not the Venganza either. So I was thinking of greatly expaning the fortress section on the fort as well as placing another gun battery at the base of the light tower. 3) I would like to do a small MLCAD remodel on the cabin of the New Covenant. 4) My Spanish fleet has a flagship and two small ships both of which need an upgrade. 5) The Fortune and Adventure might need to be cleaned, but I replaced the sails with the Official LEGO® ones while I was home. I am not sure they need an update as they are so small that the only update I could really do would be to change the colors to match the big ships, I am not sure that is necessary, but it might be a future plan.
  6. Thanks. Well I think I used up both the 'I's I got in the key chain package on sIenna and arbIter, so I needed to use the 'H's as 'Covenant', 'Sienna' and 'Arbiter' are all without 'Hs'. plus they look more like Roman numerals. So I was thinking maybe I should show a quick and dirty post of the old ship next to the new one so everyone has an easy place to view the changes... Here they be! --Old-- --New-- I think the sails are the biggest improvement, though the Cabin upgrade doesn't hurt either.
  7. Unfortunately, the decks are not removeable, nor is the cabin accessible... those were some of the down falls and the reason why I made the Arbiter II, which has both open-up sides and an accessible cabin, click the thimbnail to see the Arbiter II
  8. Thank you mister moderator! As an added bonus, my three big ships showing off their names!
  9. This topic has now been split! To see the final result, check it out here, by clicking the thumbnail!!
  10. 12a So if you read my first Arbiter II post (which recently should have been split), you will know that the old Arbiter, found here, that my old flagship was given to the Spanish to cease hostilities between the Spanish and Brick-tish. The ship was renamed 'Venganza' as it vowed revenged for the sinking of one of its own ships. As a result of the trade, however, I needed to refit the Venganza for duty as a Spanish ship. This wasn't overly difficult because all I really did was change the sails to white and replace the flags... Anyhow, I thought I would share photos of the Venganza as it is now! Here is the old guy The other ship seen is the photos for comparison is the Arbiter II which has now been completed. You can find that ship by clicking on the thumbnail below.
  11. If you like the sails on the Arbiter II, I can offer some advice. 1) On the two masts I have with four sails, the upper most sail and the lower most sails (royals and main sail) are customs. 2) The two sails in the middle (top sail and topgallant sail) are the same size as the standard LEGO ® sails. 3) For the custom sails, try making them fit fairly snuggly horizontally across the top yardarm the sail is connected to, but a little wide on each side at the bottom yard arm, and a little longer vertically, this will give them the look of "puffing out". If you look at the Arbiter II sails you will also notice that they are convex on both the bottom and sides, the are not straight. Straight sails will look rather funky. I think you have to figure out how to do that on your own as the shape will vary depending on mast sizes.
  12. Not quite! I used the samller mast base ontop of the platform. When you do that there is a connector for the sails right above the platform. As you will notice, I have the smaller ratlines in that photo, which means I have the smaller mast base. You are using the taller mast bases, so the next connector on your ship is higher up than the one on mine. So yours will be different with an even bigger sail on the bottom. However, using a connector right at the platform in some way might also work, that is just not what I did.
  13. two ideas... 1) you could not use the very top peg on the sails like it is done on the SES and then use every peg with a yardarm after that or 2) I would leave it as is, except I would make the lowest sail one yardarm higher, so the second to bottom sail would be smaller. that would be similar to the Arbiter II, but not quite the same since you are using a tall mast in the center above the platform.
  14. I've heard of him!! Yes check that tutorial. The sails on the Arbiter II are made of 'basic outdoor canvas', or that is what the little tag on the roll said. If you like those sails, I say try it out. it is fairly stiff and it dyes well and as far as i know, canvas is what pirates used to make sails as well!!

  16. If the Empire was me and boney you would have this ship from boney, his army of Napoleonic destruction, The Arbiter II (which is now updated and completed), the Sienna and the Covenant and Fort Brighton at the least... I think we could do some damage... but that isn't really the topic here, we are talking about boney's ship... Any how, Do you have any sort of sail plan in mind? How many sails? How will you be making them? I think we may have touched on this topic earlier, but I was curious to know what the current plans on since you are fast approaching completion on this bad boy!
  17. Thank you Mister Moderator! Why I don't mind at all, but maybe you can say you got the idea from me when you use it *y* The pictures above have now been edited. They are a bit brighter and easier to pic the detail up on now. As for which one to add to the index... I think we should replace the Arbiter II one that is in there with this one... or if the size works better for you, this one...
  18. Not easily. I guess I could with some inverted slopes, but unless I go brickbuilt, I think this is as wide as it will get for now. Well I always like 3/4 shots, but on this ship, one from the side might be better. However, I think the pictures are a little dark, so I might retake the same general ones a little later today. I will let you know then which one I prefer.
  19. ... Norrington will be out first target for destruction... unless he repents and drinks the sacred blood of the MLCAD creator 'Mike' (available for purchase on the MLCAD website), or flogs himself with the MLCAD manual repeatedly while chanting 'Mike's Lego CAD! Mike's Lego CAD'. Does that sound like a cult to you? I think not!
  20. 12 per side on the gun deck, seven per side on the main deck and there are two chasers. (12 * 2) + (7 * 2) + 2 = 40 There are also two ports low by the rudder, but there is no firing platform there. The swivels were also first on the Sienna. That is my niece. Since I edited the folder, the pictures is now here... The Picture. I had her lay down next to the ship for a scale check, the ship is about 4 or 5 inches longer than she is tall.
  21. 1a So we have a built ship... it might be a little long for its width, but I am much happier with it than I was with its predecessor. I made a few last minute design changes, like raising the gun deck one stud... but I still don't have any sort of authentic tumblehome effect... I guess I wouldn't want the hull any narrower though, as 18 studs is already too thin! Anyhow the new boat! NOTE: This thread was split from the in progress thread. Here is the link to the progress topic: The Arbiter II In progress, A MOC and story by ZCerberus
  22. Well deserved! Congratulations! Viva La Boney!
  23. Nice! You probably don't need the ladies to bring attention to this ship though!! Anyhow... These look like the swivels guns from the Sienna/Covenant/Arbiter II!! I like the shape of this ship a lot, great designing!! Now I really want you in the MLCAD Empire!!! j/k!
  24. Well I don't remember anything about that Mega Movie Special, but maybe that special was related to the pirate special they did not too long ago... They tested if rum was a good laundry cleaner, if you could go down a sail with a dagger stuck in it, if an eye patch increased night vision skills and if a cannon ball through the hull caused more damage via splinters than the cannon ball itself.
  25. How does Bella compare to your dog, Mikey?
