  1. Duplo plates are a pain. I bought two green ones on special, and they are really hard to use. The last time I managed was when I made this... That was on two big green plates. In short, I think they are great for building big... and that's it. The plates don't have the usual holes that duplo bricks have, thus a layer of duplo is needed. (I've actually got more duplo now so I'll probably be giving it another go soon.) I'm not convinced any "saving" is worth the extra bother. But to answer your question, I'd use the red ones for a planet. In a town.... a quarry?
  2. Good job! I considered doing the same to mine but ultimately the low clearance of the cargo deck turned me off. It seemed to me that it'd be easier to start from scratch! I look forward to seeing how this turns out!
  3. Very nice! The B-Wing is actually one of my favourite Star Wars ships and your version is much better than TLG last (half-decent) version. It seems you have a spare; can I have the sand blue version? (It looks like you got those parts from the Life On Mars sets.)
  4. Guess who's getting a new title!
  5. I recall in some countries there was a pack with tracks and motor. Look here...
  6. I've been "flying" my chopper around the house all day! Thanks for posting the photos; it's a rare thing when we get sets first.. and it's so weird that it's still not on S@H yet. It's a review. There's nothing wrong with multiple review topics.
  7. Microsoft did something like that back in 2003 but they were too early and the device ended up costing more than a computer. Useless? Hardly! While I was moving I ran a (small) company and helped run EB for over a month on one. (I've chambered many people on the chamber... ) It was also invaluable for image transfers from my camera and for general communication. At least once I fired it up in the car to view an on-line map! Netbooks (unlike the iPad) don't need a computer for storage or management, have hard drives, USB ports (needed so I can use any mobile network), flash drive ports, can run the exact same software my desktop does, multi task, include a camera, can be just tossed into a bag due to the clamshell design and has one of those keyboard things. Mine cost me $350 AUD! I'll take that over a oversized iPhone anyday.
  8. Can you post photos? I think so.
  9. I've never liked the idea of using studs as texture. Once you do that you have to tile as otherwise any stud shown will be seen as a deliberate detail. I prefer to see things from the point of view that the studs are to be ignored. I do however use studs and tiles for slight level changes... so I suppose I want it all!
  10. Thanks! I'm more a merger than a closer... Fixed.
  11. For the most part I tend to only tile over studs if I need the area to be smooth for functional reasons. Some things, such as modular building footpaths, should obviously be tiled to fit in with the rest, but when doing personal MOCs I prefer the studded look. It's really untrendy I know, but that's my lot in life.
  12. I just finished assembling mine. If you don't get around to it I'll see if I can. (It's a great set.)
  13. Yaaahhgh! What be yo talk'n 'bout? This be clearer than the dawn on a dark day! I'll be read'n me parrot jest for it!
  14. I could be missing your meaning, but it's OK to link 8 teeth gears to 24, and 16 to 8... In any case, the first 16 is a axeled one, and the second isn't thus it can be used differently. It's also used in transmissions. Similarly, the first 24 is normal, the second is torque limited, and the third is a "Crown" gear that's used for 90 degree connections. (Not as useful as it used to be since most gears are now bevelled and can do 90 degree connections too!) Not to my knowledge, but I've never seen it as a big problem. But there are loads of Technic experts here...
  15. ...and lo, the Armies of Light and Darkness were assembled, and with a roar that rattled the mountains they came together to settle the 5000 years of hatred. The blood flowed heavily from both sides, with neither side holding any clear advantage. Then, out of the mist, a figure emerged on a giant warhorse, and a collective gasp was heard from both sides. It was Siegfried the Sinner, long thought lost at the battle of Fart! He raised his Sledgehammer, and swung it in a wide arc, and those foolhardy enough to linger were shattered. Siegfried looked around, and everyone felt ashamed, as it seemed he looked into each and everyone's eyes, and thus into their soul. He spoke. This isn't going anywhere good and it's not about LEGO anyway so I'm closing this. -Excerpt from the Scrolls of Sinner
  16. Yes, that's why CopMike has a new title.
  17. ...and spoil someone's joke? Not a chance! (If no one owns up to it in the next day I'll remove the "sweat" , but seriously, unchanging titles are boring and are a sign that nobody loves you. You've had that one for at least 2 years! Wouldn't you prefer new title love?) EDIT: Booo! Somebody changed it! I'll get my revenge.... ...done!
  18. Does the seller regually sell LEGO? If so they have no excuse, if not they just may not know that it's an issue. In any case, threat of Bad feedback may be your best bet.
  19. No it wasn't! I just checked and it used to be "EB's Lovely Heart !!". There's no log of who made the change either. I'll discuss this with the staff...
  20. Errr.... is "Siegfried Harcourt" my daddy?
  21. I agree! I especially like the anagramic hints in regard to the SNOT puzzle!
  22. I better tell Mum! Jolly good! *I pick up the paper and read it out aloud is a sexy voice.*
  23. This topic seems rather mean to me. Perhaps I've missed the point, but it seems to focus on "let's make fun of little kids". If I'm wrong free free to PM and persuade me otherwise, but in the mean time I'll be closing this.
  24. Please don't bump sales topics. It's really selfish as it bumps another one down. You've got your store link in your signature; that should be enough.
  25. It doesn't matter... so I'm moving this.
