It's good logic, I must admit! I was expecting a bank though....

Sad to say this is an on-going issue (yes I am serious) and it's one of the major reason why we try to keep the maturity at a certain level on EB. But the problem is that EB is always changing. For the most part I see it as positive, but you can't please everyone... I'd like that but there's not enough interest for it to work.
-
No it's not. What would you know? (That was a joke. )
-
I think I was the one who started that on EB... or so my Ego thinks anyway! I cheated with mine as I wrote a program that cycles my signature images... We've considered flat out banning those, but instead we went for the 250k maximum size option. the really annoying ones we still delete though!

Must be a US thing. I've never known anyone from uni/college to say "School Homework". In that case since I can't prove otherwise (and I have no reason to think you're lying) I stand corrected. Example please? I don't think I've changed angle, but when I wrote the first post I was in a bit of a hurry and probably was more brief than I should have been. I agree. You are right there and I've (we've) been working towards that goal. The original rules focused heavily on 18 which didn't reflect our stance. Even so, I do think "adult behaviour" and "mature behaviour" are much the same thing. To be honest, the guidelines need a revision. I wrote them for the most part, Shadows heavily re-wrote them (and removed some of my favourite parts ) and the rest of the staff gave suggestions. Over time other things have been added by most of the staff, and other issues have come up that aren't covered. (For example posting in "dead" topics.) However, I for one am concerned that the bigger it gets the less likely it will be actually read, so I'd like it smaller. We have discussed revisions but it's hard to write a good concise one, and since the staff work as a group it takes time to find a happy medium. Thus I can't see any chance of a new one being written anytime soon. It's a shame we even need them. EB never used to have any rule other than "You must be 18", but it caused problems when people broke the un-written rules. It's be nice to just have rules of "Be mature and use common sense when posting!", but I don't think it's cut it. (Thanks for your comments. )

That's good to hear! We had a lot of trouble there a while back as we kept overloading the server! Several upgrades later we seem to have found one that works.

This is a misconfiguration from our end (no idea why; it's from before I even joined!) and the best solution is setting your time wrong. It's annoying yes, but it'd be more annoying to fix it as 7870 members would then need to correct their time...

Indeed. I seem to recall making a topic about people talking casually about being under aged.
-
Picking at my words instead of looking at the meaning behind them is just plain pedantic. College is college, university is university and school is school. I can tell the difference and I stand by my words. Also, please note that 18 is just a guide. We are targeting mature adults. EB is a world site and thus we can't give an exact age for what is an adult. While the generally accepted age for adults is 18, 15-21 is also common, and so is 13 (Jewish). Thus age is just a guideline and we look more at posts. I've known 14 year olds that act more mature than some 25 year olds so IMHO a purely age based criteria (aside from being unenforceable) would be too simplistic. In short, my point was that unless you're 18, we'd prefer you kept your age to yourself. It's better for you... and it's better for the site as it'll help keep away immature members.

We can ban usernames even if no-one is using them.

I don't like any fonts that are hard to read on screen. Most Serif fonts (especially when small) are like this, as are some colours. -

I'm not into contortionism or anything like that, but I am passable at gymnastics. What do you have in mind? Isn't the tour exciting enough? -
Since I rarely go out in what I'm wearing at home this isn't a problem I have... but I do deliberately take this guy almost everywhere! Here he is in a department store.

Ahh yes. I'm similar when making sandwiches out of block cheese. I prefer pre-sliced for time reasons, but I'm flexible. -
Sort of so thanks. In a lot of cases large signatures are ignored in the hope members will change them without prompting. I personally normally take action when a sig that was big just keeps getting bigger! Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes Do I get Kudos? To me it isn't just the loading issue, it's also the space taken as it means people have to scroll more.

Errr... no. Why would that be a factor? I agree, but at this time we have 7852 members and I don't get around to checking everyone's signature regularly.

Yeah, I was feeling the same way too... -
Why thanks. I do have some experience with this kind of thing. My father used to hide my pocket money around the house with only anagrams as clues. I must confess though that it aided my combat skills more than my language as I tended to beat up the servants for clues... Or worse still, another anagram...

I really love that statue! The craftmanship is stunning. It's a shame it's so hard to make as otherwise I'd have someone craft up a copy. I would like to see that. I have some toast right here, but it's only browned on one side. Does that make a difference?

Oh my! I feel useful again! Sorry about sleeping all this time, for some reason this place feels so hot... Maybe I should try shouting it? Greed! Greed! Greed!
-
Maybe because it's not acid, but alkaline. (Yeah, it's caustic instead, which can be much the same in terms of damage. I just wanted to be a smarty pants...)
-
This place gives me the creeps, but while I've been quiet I've been thinking about that anagram; The Safe Password is Greed ? It makes sense... but there's no safe!

That's the same advice I was going to give! It's a simple circuit and the battery drain will be no different in or out. (I'm an ex-Electronic Technician! ) I will add though; 1. Batteries leak more often than not only when they are flat. Other factors do cause leakage (such as temperature) but it's mostly just dead batteries. 2. All batteries discharge over time, regardless of usage. Thus if it's not going to be used for years, remove them. 3. Lithium batteries rarely leak, and many button cells are Lithium. I don't have one handy at the moment so I'm not sure what type they are.

To save you the conversions, it's 108 Fahrenheit. At the moment I'm doing some work, but when I'm finished I'm out of here! (It's cooling down from tomorrow.) -

We've had 4 days of 40+ degrees in a row and it's just too hot in the house to spend too much time on the computer so don't expect me to post. Sorry...
