A-ha! I don't like beer, so there! Case closed, court dismissed.

What's with the staff's usernames?

It's so you! -
Nice logic. So that means that the other silly stuff like this... ...is true as well? If so, how does one actually drink beer on a international forum?

Shhhh! -
Clone bricks, since they aren't actually LEGO, go in community. (I'll move this there now.) Thanks for the review though. The MLRS and the Oshkosh are decent designs.
-
Yeah, that works too.

Nope, it's just your computer dying. These things happen. Did you have backups? I'm going to change your topic title because it's sheer nonsense.

Exactly. That's one reason why we're tolerant. Some TFOLs are very talented, and he's one of the best... and he's always been a good member too.

That I do agree with. The XBOX 360 trigger is superior. I hate using Alkalines, and the 360 is very picky with rechargeables. Since I have three PS3 controllers (two for the kids so they don't trash mine!) I just leave one on charge while playing. It was horrid with Lost Odyssey as it's always loading. The problem is mostly caused by the DVD drive so the install mostly solves it. Mostly... True but I bought a 120GB 2 years ago for $100 AUD. The XBOX 120GB drive still costs more at $199.95 AUD. For this reason I'm still using the 20GB. I hear that a lot, and I don't get it. But I must confess on-line gaming doesn't excite me. I like the stories of games most of all and I don't do multi-player much. I do however do Soul Calibur on-line as my wife gets grumpy when I beat her....

What does this mean? It means that we're targeting EB for an AFOL age group, not a TFOL one. We try to be flexible on this, but some recent topics make it clear that there is some confusion. For this reason let me remind people that posting things like that you're 13, saying you need more pocket money or that you have to do your school homework is stupid. We probably won't ban you for it, but it makes it clear that you lied while joining, and that's a bad way to start. Once we've noted this we then know that you're a likely immature member and you will be watched more. So please, if you're underaged on EB be subtle about it and try to post in a mature fashion. If not we'll ban you according to the guidelines that you agreed to when you joined. Sorry for the negative nancy post, but posts like this... ...really get on my goat. We do care about all of our guidelines and the next time I read a post that's encouraging people to ignore them that I'll be banning the member instantly just to prove the point.

No. That's not true at all. We try to be tolerant, and attitudes like that is a clear case of pushing your luck. I'm closing this. (Don't get silly ideas of editing posts; I've saved a copy. )

Old news....

Is that as good a game as they say? I first heard about that game as Sega re-used the characters from that game in Valkyria Chronicles. (Great PS3 game by the way... ) I've actually been considering buying a GameCube and finding a copy of the port.

There is no guarantee that FF13 will make it to the 360. They have permission to do it, but it's due in March and they have been awful quiet. It won't be sold in Japan so it seems like a lot of expensive work just for the westerners. Word is it'll be multi-disc. Traditionally Square are late with ports and I think the massive work converting a PS3 title to the XBOX360 will delay the western release. On the positive side, I do recommend Lost Odyssey on the 360! The sound track is by Nobuo Uematsu and it's written by the same guy that created the Final Fantasy series. ...oh and I own a Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PS, Nintendo DS, PSP... plus two Amigas and an Atari ST!

I hope you don't try this debating style in pubs. I can just imagine it; you poke your head in one, yell "The Yankees are hopeless!", and then run... Late? Perhaps, but the way I see it is that the 360 was early and Sony did the responsible thing and didn't release unfinished hardware. The 360 on the other hand was not ready. It had/has major heat issues even though it has an external power brick the size of an actual brick and sounds louder than the average AC unit. It had no HDMI and the system software was the most horrid, ugly and user unfriendly interface I've even seen. To keep prices down features were made "optional", such as the hard drive and the wireless controllers. The backwards compatibility wasn't finished and needed the "optional" hard drive. The fact is Sony had no reason to rush out an unfinished console as the PS2 was and is selling very well, but Microsoft had no choice. For one, due to a horrid mistake, Microsoft was paying a fixed price for parts so they were unable to drop prices, even though the parts were cheaper to make. Secondly the Xbox wasn't selling as well as hoped. (I didn't mind it and I still use mine for MGS2.) But most of all, the GPU made my Nvidia was discontinued in August 2005. Thus if they delayed the 360 they would have had nothing to sell... In what way didn't the PS3 work though? Why? It works, even in Australia. I don't have to pay for it either. That's just nonsense. I don't give a hoot about streaming video due to excessive bandwidth costs in Australia, and I own about 5 Blu-Ray discs. I use my PS3 for games, and I use it a lot more than my 360. I've actually got several new games to play for my 360 but I'm enjoying playing Uncharted 2 for the second time too much! I wouldn't stream movies anyway; I prefer a physical copy that I can keep. I don't believe that one... and even if it's true it's too late. They would still be forced to sell game on DVD which misses most of the point of Blu-Ray. Feel free to not reply, but I couldn't let that post stand unopposed.

No, not at all. I was just explaining my angle... and sorry for being a grump in your year-early topic.

I must confess it annoys me when people say "Mods feel free to XXX". Obviously we'll close/move/delete/merge/ban when needed so to me it's unnecessary and just makes us look picky. Are we that bad? Am I that picky? Am I being picky now? How about now? In programming I often start counting from a number like 3000 for one reason or any other, but when counting less abstract things I always start at one. It seems more accurate that way. The problem is we'll probably get people making the same topics next year... I think Customs Garage is one of the most un-appreciated sets ever. I've actually got a half finished review of it... Any image in mind?

Do you use "Quck Edit" or "Quck Reply"?. The board has a bug that ruins unicode style characters when that is used. The Full Editor doesn't do that.

You are aware that the PS3 controller is the same, that is an analog travelling trigger? Also, like the PS2 and (oddly) the first XBOX every button has a analog value, that is you can press a button harder and it registers it. It may not have the same travel as a full trigger but it can be used in exactly the same way. The XBOX 360 lost this functionality and that's the main reason why some games, such as MGS2, can't be emulated. My console of choice is the PS3, but I still own a XBOX 360 as I wanted to play Lost Odyssey. I prefer the PS3 for many reasons, including; 1. All buttons are analog. 2. All controllers are wireless and don't need a separate battery pack or custom charge cable 3. It doesn't sound like a jet turbine. Ever. The 360 does even with the new install feature. 4. The hard drive is standard. 5. Free networking. 6. Blu-Ray. It's silly that a game like Lost Odyssey needs 4 discs! 7. Easy file and save transfer between profiles and machines that doesn't require data removal. (Most of the time.) 8. A hard drive that is easily upgradable without paying silly prices for a new one. ...entering opinion zone! 9. Better controller for fighting games. (D-Pad placement) 10. Stunning games. 11. Superior interface.

Very nice! You done especially well with the rotating section. This is actually one of my favourite movie ships... but it's not so popular with most people as it looks so un-streamlined. But that's OK with me! If humanity ever gets around to leaving Earth orbit it'll probably be in something like that. We really aren't designed to long term low gravity and artificial gravity makes no sense at all. (It would make it impossible to fly straight...) With the other designs, I especially like Space Station V and Aries-IB.

Ahhh Independence Day. The movie that ripped off so many story points from other sources (especially V... which ripped off the book Childhoods End), had dubious military concepts (F/A-18s? Wouldn't A-10s be smarter and the USAF doesn't even use F/A-18s...), very dubious hacker skills (no explanation needed) and lazy effects. I had high hopes for this film and was very disappointed. You've done very well making what you did! I especially like how you say you can move the clip plates to focus the beam. Most of the effects were done using a bad combination of models and CG, and for that reason only one ship does stand out; the alien fighter. I didn't mind that design, but as you say, it's hard to do in small scale. You've done a good job all things considered though. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, that was one of the biggest reason for the change. Sub forums can be confusing and easily missed. Not a chance. It'll beat town, but not trains.

Links are allowed within reason. If the links are not relevant to LEGO we might ask you to remove them, but it's all handled on a case by case basis, and the guidelines don't expressibly forbid it. Like a lot of things here, everything is taken on a holistic basis, that is if you're a good member then we tolerate more. Are you a good member? I think you're better than average so go for it! Personally I don't like to advertise my sites in my signature as I see it as bad form, but I can be annoying like that so there's no need to follow my example.

I can do that with or without your permission! Are you aware the decade doesn't end until next year. (People as a general rule don't count from zero....) In any case I pick Green Grocer. I was tempted to pick 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe, but it's hard to argue with the fact that after my last move I'm re-building Green Grocer but I'm planning on not rebuilding the cargo train.

LEGO trains are an important aspect of the hobby for many AFOLs, and in many ways they surpass the traditional Town link that's often made. For example you can make a Sci-Fi or a Western themed train. Partially for this reason we've decided to separate the two forums. Discuss here!
