Review: 8971 Aerial Defense Unit
Siegfried replied to starstreak's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is a really beautiful set. Thanks for the great review; I really want this set. I wonder if this could be the first non-technic set to include universal joints... I'm very un-impressed by the Magma-drones, but the new studded armour will be usefull. I wonder why Trace got a hair cut; perhaps she was sick of having trouble sitting down.... On a side note, that door reminds me of domo-kun. Who? This guy... -
The reviews keep on coming! starstreak has just posted one of the new big Agents set. Find it here! *** Want to learn how to make the most awesome set reviews? Join the Eurobricks Reviewers Academy.

Considering the prices of Snowtroopers $40 would be cheap!

Thanks for the review! I loved it. I'll be buying this set.. but I'll probably cringe when I see the price! Are the Tauntaun horns compatable with anything else? Oh, fair point. There's good things and bad things about that new design. For example towers won't work so well... that might mean that the Taj Mahal (which has axels inside the 4 side towers) is on its way out. True, but "adult" isn't the same as "talk like you're with your home boys". Swearing for the heck of it grows tiresome real fast...

As a LEGO fan, I was made to assemble a clone set that my sister bought for one of her kids. They couldn't assemble it using the instructions. Anyway, the funny thing about this set is it claimed on the front that it was a "transformer", but to do so you had to break and rebuild it...

I mod a lot of sets, often while building them! For example the Hyperspace ring had x2s that made some parts look unbalanced so I change it. Same story with the Exo-Force legs. I also tend to remove the shooting functions... (I'll move this to General....)

Oh my gosh! You put a lot of work into this review! Great review of a horrid set. I get grumpy over the molding marks on LEGO... but these are much worse. It does remind me though that I need to buy a fabuland shovel....

You are one of my favourite builders afterall. As for what I'm building, it's a bit different to what you've made. It's based on the main tank from the game Valkyria Chronicles. He's an almost finished picture...
-
Very nice! I've actually been thinking about you lately... ***long pause*** ...as by some odd co-incidence I'm building a large scale tank myself which I should be posting in a few days. You keep springing to mind as I've been finding it frustrating at times building a MOC based on something, but struggling to find ways to replicate it in LEGO. You make it look easy. The front of the turret is perfect.

On and off. She's been building (very odd) spaceships with the big pink pieces.

As a pre-emptive warning, let's not turn this into a conversation about religion... Carry on!

Somebody give that Tusken a prize! Yes, that's exactly it. It was the other reason why we split the Vassals; some people (such as customisers) don't post much due to time reasons, but they have something special to sell. Our old solution was to force a promotion, but it was a waste of staff resources. Thus by this change were we're both cruel and kind!

I was a long time lurker too! Welcome to Eurobricks!

THE OLD Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List

Updated! Lots of friendly trading going on here. -
Dunno.... but please no more new topics on BS problems. We've got this special topic afterall.

Was I late? Am I early? It's hard to tell... but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of two little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Happy Birthday!

Great skull! I'd love to see any development shots of this. It must have been hard to do that skull so good! You've done a great job of making it look convincing yet not too perfect. I like the story too, but I'm more interested in the prequal... I'm the good looking one.

I'd love to be a part of this... and sorry for taking so long to post.

Where do post your MOC pictures?
Siegfried replied to Ricecracker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I use my own site. I've been bitten in the past where a hosting site changes or vanishes completely (such as Zing) leaving me needing to find another option. To break it down. Flickr: Great site, great community but the limits of the free accounts sux. The pro price is OK, but I'd rather spend it on my own site. Also, their direct linking rules are confusing; they say you aren't supposed to do it, yet they still let you. I think this policy will change without much notice in the future. Brickshelf: Great features, clunky look and confusing support. Hard to trust. Personal: Full instant control. Easily possible to write scripts to rotate images. Hosting costs are about twice Fickr. -
I got mine the week before last, I asked on the 12th, and I live in Tasmania. Pretty fast for a freebie!

One topic only please. If everyone created extra topics for everything that could belong in another forum it'd get rather silly. Thus I merged your other topic with this.

Yeah, I messed up mine first too. I was building in a hurry in a dark room and I missed the actual point of the allignment pictures. I noticed problems soon after motorising and (cos I think I'm smart) tried to put them 180 degrees out of phase. This made things worse. I ended up blaming the model and I then removed the bars when doing my power test. I then came to EB to post this photo and noticed that others we having the same trouble and I thought that maybe the axels were hitting the bar. During my attempted re-alignment I found the real cause of the problem and *poof* problem fixed. The really cool thing is the bar actually does help; it isn't just for decoration. When doing the above test I could only move that load forwards. With the bar on the engine moved smoother and could do backward as well, even thought the batteries were drained after substantial playing with! I'm dying to know how much better the real batteries are...

I will discuss this with the member. I'll keep you posted *Jerry Man*.

Indeed, they are beautiful... but I'm not going to sell mine! I am going to move this topic to BSTF though...

My solution has always been to make a box of LEGO and fill it with fishing weights. I'm curious how this all turns out and I'd love to see your final solution and MOC.
