  1. Set Index: 9492 TLG releases new TIE fighters regularly and they don't seem to like missing a year. (For the record, I consider the Scimitar to be a TIE ancestor.) This is the 2012 edition of the TIE/ln starfighter! Three bags, 2 and 3 are identical, one for each radiator panel. (I'd already opened bag 1 and then I decided to do a review.... ) Four figs! I bought this set mostly for the model, but the figs are good just the same. "R5-J2" is the highlight to me. Only one has a double site face, only the Imperial Officer has backprinting (vertical creases and a belt), but the pilot has a happy face! I love the new helmet! I hope the new droid head becomes a common part. (Since it has a stud it's likely! ) ...and now it's time for the main event! The new radiator panel design is a vast improvement. The center part is a print. The border is held on via the top and bottom by four 6x2 with a 4x1 snot parts... ...and it ends up being very thin and it really looks the part. The rear is less of a success; that back part is supposed to be concave. But it's a hard detail to do right. While complaining, it's a shame that TLG didn't divide the hexagon on the inside as well. Mod job? The pilot has controls! And a seat! You can also see here how the new 4x1 curved parts (from Cars sets) is used to smooth off the top nicely. This canopy is a huge improvement for so many reasons (especially the loss of the integrated laser cannons)... ...and the printing is much better as well. For optimum swooshing, the radiator panels are held on very securely; two pins are on the pylon, and this axle... ...goes though and connects with this technic part. (Normally hidden.) I recently moved so I don't have my other TIEs assembled, but I fixed this TIE/D Defender for the review. The Defender looks bad in comparison here. The wings are sagging, the cockpit looks blocky and the tiles on the wings look lame in comparison. Ditto. My "studio" looks lame here too. Hmmm. Concave rear or not, the TIE/ln starfighter looks superior. It's hard to believe that these sets were about the same price... It's a winner for pilot ergonomics too! A seat, controls, more room... makes you feel bad for the TIE/D Defender seeing it's equipped with a hyperdrive! Previously unseen parts. EDIT: smokebelch picked my mistake; two of those gray wedges go inside the cockpit. Ratings Functions: Not too many but the flick-fires are subtle, the canopy connection is sturdy and the radiator panel construction and connection is really strong. 8/10 Parts: Nothing too exciting, the new figs and the canopy are the highlights. 8/10 Price: At $89.99 AUD ($54.99 USD) for 413 parts it's not too good. But it's a Star Wars set... 5/10 Accuracy: The best TIE yet, by a huge margin. I think it looks better than the UCS ones too. Guaranteed to make your older TIEs look crap. 10/10 Fudge: This is so close to the perfect TIE that I'd be surprised if there is ever another one of this model. They'll probably do a bomber next year, and an interceptor next year and then they can never make a TIE ever again. (Feel free to rub my face in this comment in a few years.) 10/10 Overall: Buy! 8/10 One thing that always bothers me about TIEs; how do the poor guys see? The left and right sides are a huge blind spot, as is the back. If it's some sort of holo-display why have a viewport at all... Thanks for reading! Feel free to post image requests!
  2. Do you get off challenging forum authority or something? Yes, this belongs in the BSTF and that's where it will stay. Why? Because it's local news. I'm not from the USA, and many people from this site aren't either. If a topic was created every time every set was available in every country can you imagine how silly the forum would get? A new topic is to discuss something new, not to mention a simple fact. How much discussion can be made about this? Not much. Thus I will close this topic and merge it later with the other one. Now please stop wasting the last few hours of my weekend. I just had a better idea. I've merged them all with the existing topic, and changed the title so you don't feel like we hate Americans. (You are aware the two of the admins and many of the mods are from the USA... ) Why you didn't post it here in the first place is quite beyond me.
  3. I know that LEGO Certified Professionals can get them for usage in licensed mosaics and statues, but I think they aren't allowed to use them outside their job.
  4. It's no big secret; they said it all when they left. In short "we" wanted a different future for EB than what they wanted and it was causing loads of internal debate, much of which was spilling over into the public forum. But ultimately "we" cheated and demoted Vader and Yoda since "we" were the ones paying the site bills and had full control. Not nice I know, but we saw it the only way to get a united staff again, and all things considered I (personally) have no regrets. What were the issues? Mostly they wanted a return to the "old ways" (which I never had explained to me, but one would assume that Brick Horizon embodies them), less Fabuland, less pirates (they changed their mind on that one), less of "us", less Bionicle... and we wanted what EB is today. But to me it's all in the past (about four years ago) and I'm not one to dwell there. They aren't banned, and there still are a few active topics created by Yoda and Vader. They promoted their new site here and I'm a (very inactive) member there. If you want a better/different/true answer I suggest you ask them.
  5. Challenge: Begin
  6. Yeah it's cool, but it's already been posted. I'll merge this later.
  7. 85% of people know that, but the other 30% aren't good at maths.
  8. I tried that as a father, but I was naive. I told my kids "no guns" and gave them neutral LEGO. So what did my boy do? He made a gun out of basic LEGO. I told him don't do it again, and he didn't, but I then found him with sticks outside using them as guns... My advice? Give them what they want (within reason ) and offer guidance about what's real and what's not. It's not hard to explain what's so un-real about Ninjago. (Plus ninjas don't exist, and probably never did.) Western? Western is a historical and bloody fact. Western toys are one of the things my boy will never get...
  9. Well good work for surviving this long due to us being too busy, but bad work for blowing it all by posting in your old topic. This being your account number three I'll just save everyone the time and directly ban you. Bye.
  10. I love Ninjago. I hope it lasts forever. Sure it's unbelievable, but that's part of the charm. Besides, the last one was hardly realistic. For one, the classic ninjas probably never actually existed, but also look at the sets... Flying? (This isn't the only one with a glider.) Flame thrower? "Shanghai Surprise." Shanghai? ...and why are the Samurai's on the same side? I can go on. Personally I think the Ninjago "this is not even close to reality" is much better than the old "close but confusing". What are you proposing; per-emptive banning? I just made a post on this today and I have no problem with any of the posts afterward.
  11. If everyone used less bold the world would need 10% less power stations. True fact.
  12. ...and lost the originals. My Vote! 1. Siegfried (Siegourney Harcourt) 2. Diana Mantino (Fugazi) 3. Dragonator (Diesel Nolan)
  13. Thanks! Well since you're being nice I'll give a half answer. No it's not tan... but it is colour related. ...on the subject of colours, anyone get a clue about brown? It could be a lead on my old clothes... How about red?
  14. I'm getting sick of receiving reports from this topic. So you make a summary but then you make these posts. Now you're just being silly. I get it. We all get it. You don't like Ninjago. So unless you've got anything useful to post please stop ruining this topic. This is your final warning on this.
  15. Aren't you a bossy one? Who said I haven't shared my clues? You could just be the only one that I haven't told 'cos you're so bossy. ..or it could be that my clue tells me something that I can't reveal. But as I said, I'm thinking about it. But don't get too excited; my clue is pretty bloody vague... as everyone but you already knows. Anyway, sad to say there's one person here that I trust. Me. ...although I hope a certain someone isn't carrying anything unpleasant.. ...so I'm prepared to take my chances and have draw straws or similar and increase my chances of getting more clues. ...and why not? I did the hard yards. It's not like I didn't work hard to get this opportunity. A piece of my soul, my very soul, went into winning this, so I'm not inclined to give it up so easily.
  16. Maybe we could get greedy and keep them ourselves!
  17. I'm thinking about it...
  18. Indeed. But it's worse than that. It's actually illegal. Eurobricks is hosted in Germany.
  19. laix has made an amazing Technic crane MOC. It has a working boom, outriggers, cable, steering on all the wheels... and pneumatics!
  20. Can I have a second? Or a third? We could use them like Shuriken. Nag, nag, nag. I suggest you find a way to blow off... some steam. Challenge Begin
  21. Don't. Just don't. We're not a billboard. Don't try to start sales with your first post.
  22. So you're not doing this next?
  23. What's more powerful, Ninjas or Pirates? The answer to this question has eluded the greatest of minds for eons, but with the recent invention of a flying sail ship I think they'll have the scumbags routed in no time. For more details read the report by Siegfried on the set 9446 Destiny’s Bounty. Find more cool stuff in the Eurobricks LEGO Action Forum!
  24. Looks like a decision to me... I'd like to take my top off again to celebrate.
  25. I made a search on YouTube after you said that; yeah it is supposed to be a lot bigger! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA0CFATmgRk It also answers the question of take-off; there are additional thrusters at the front. I'll have to add those. Not a problem... Well to be honest I'm not sure if I would have either. I got it for virtually half price due to a credit card related store voucher. No, not early in that way. I meant that it's the biggest Ninjago set for this year so far; there could be a second wave bigger set.
