Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum II: Fraulein Bloodbrick
Siegfried replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'd just like to say that regardless of similarities, that walrus is no relation to me. For one he changes his pants too much, and secondly I had that eye condition fixed. -
It's Underwater Action Themes Month!
Siegfried replied to Hinckley's topic in Forum Information and Help
Theme months rarely coincide with actual months... and often end up being slightly longer or shorter. -
Nice way to show off your green Classic-Spacemen! I love the little monorail. Sure there is. There's always gravity, and going by the lack of curve on the vigs this must be a decent size planet/moon...

What happens when the world runs out of petroleum?
Siegfried replied to brickmack's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well EB, I'm impressed. I was concerned I'd find this topic a war zone of peoples different opinions, but instead it's become an almost fun topic! Maybe the Dino 2012 line is a subtle hint from TLG? -

Well you're probably the closest thing we have to a subject matter expert! -
What happens when the world runs out of petroleum?
Siegfried replied to brickmack's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The world will never run out of fossil based oil. You can quote me on that. What's going to happen is that over the next 30-50 years the price of oil will steadily rise until no one can afford to use it like we do today and we'll either all die or we'll find an alternate power source. Assuming we don't die LEGO will be made from another oil source. -
Congrats. Now it's time to party!

He's very nice! Very good use of the new technic panels and the cape is a cool touch!

Blame me. I'm just doing some experimentations. Currently the frontpage ad makes up a small part of the site revenue... which means I was considering removing it. BUT that was mostly because the ad size was one of the older formats that not many people make ads for and if we could improve our revenue by using the same amount of screen space I figured "why not". Do note that the front page is much the same as before, it's just that there's less on the right, more on the left. (I chose the left as with what was there it could use the space more effectively.) This is not a case of sacrificing content for adverts. Personally I think it's not a big deal. The frontpage is visited once and then you go elsewhere. If EB was to expand our ad coverage I'd go for the frontpage; it's far less annoying. It was with great reluctance that I was for the addition of ads at the bottom of each page, but it's been accepted for the most part. I'd hate for use to do the ad-in-the-middle-of-topics that many forums do, and that's why I'm experimenting. Quite simply it's only possible to do such experimentations on a real live site, so that's what I'm doing. To me it's not too bad for screen sizes over 1024. 1024 1280 I did test all resolutions while setting this up, and I made it work well for 1280 and OK at 1024. To be honest I find sites designed for 1024 really annoying, and personally I consider any monitor less than 1280 unusable... (My screens are 1920x1080.) Don't worry; I'll probably restore it to the old way in a day or two. Even so, since the issue has been raised, please feel free everyone to share your thoughts on advertising on EB.

Winners of the Spaghetti Western Competition
Siegfried replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
So many good entires! Good work to everyone involved in the contest! -
You're asking a useless question; even if it was 100% made in Denmark, there's no guarantee it is worldwide. Besides, this was almost a year ago. Things change. For reasons like this we ask people to not bump old topics to ask questions.

Babylon 5! I'm actually a huge fan and you've done an excellent job considering the size. Even so, why did you use the head piece rather than the cone for the engine fronts? If you changed that I think it'd look a lot closer.

I love this idea. I wouldn't do it myself as it's a rather brick hungry creation, but it's cool just the same. I bought this set, but I wanted it just for the parts... You could clip flags onto the date blocks using the existing handles.
-
Nice idea using those parts to make a LEGO version of those official Lightsaber toys. It's about the same scale as Mini-fig lightsabers.
-
Very nice! I've always like the idea of a robotic weapon platform. Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. It's smart part usage, but the colour really draws the eye.

darkdragon has taken something cool (the Brick Calendar) and made it better! It's a customisable LEGO calendar now! All it needs now is a walrus cheerleader!

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Siegfried replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I went to the Big-W sale, but there was no choppers. But fate smiled on me; there was a damaged Ninjago Fire Temple for $100. It felt full so I took the chance... and all that was missing was the instructions! Since I already own the set I didn't care... Good advice! -

Yeah, one of the few Euro cool factors I appreciate is this site! I really can't comment much on the handling of the TMAX as I've never ridden a "normal" scooter. This one has 15 inch wheels so it's smaller than most bikes but it's not too small. We'll probably have another scooter in a week or two so I'll be able to comment better then. The wife wants an auto. There aren't too many auto motorbikes. She wanted this one as she didn't want to ride a standard euro style scooter, but it does seem that's the smarter bet right now. I've gone pretty fast on this one. It's hilarious overtaking on it; more often than not people don't like a scooter being faster than them and push back! There was one time I overtook a motorcycle at highway speeds, and he immediately sped up and tried to lose me in the traffic. I think it handles very well all things considered. I'm still learning how to handle it, but I can corner fast on it. But I'd rather be on the Versys... -

Indeed, but in any case this is old news and in the wrong forum too, so... -
We don't host images on EB; you'll need to use an image hosting site. If you need help with this take a look through the tutorials.

For the most part it's in very good condition, but it's still a 2006 model. I tried trading it in to the guys I bought it from last week, but the best they offered me was half what I paid... Thus I'm going to try for a private sale. Want a TMAX? -

Not really; it's second hand and it's already done 30,000 km. A few hundred more wont make much difference. ..but yeah it's big. -
...me. My old one was a bad joke by me and I didn't find it funny anymore.

Thanks! It was a bit stressful though when the kids started asking if this was meant as a build table! To be honest I was surprised too how much I managed to carry. That goes without saying! Wow, that's fast. I've never gone past 100 mph on mine; that was on a plain too. The furtherest I've been on my bike is 700 miles away, but that's not a racer. Funnily I borrowed a R1 that belongs to a friend of mine... (not me in the photo!) ...but after a quick ride my arms were tired from the posture; long time no racer! On a similar issue, and to cut a long story short(*), I'm mostly riding a TMAX at the moment. Being a 500cc scooter it's odd. The power comes on late, but when it does it's got plenty and it's really smooth. It handles more like a bike too due to the mid engine. Very roomy too! *Slightly longer version Bought for the wife but it's too big. Stupid mistake. To cut my losses I'm getting some use out of it prior to selling it... -
I'll look into getting it soon before you get the idea of marrying someone else...
