Please take this as a second warning- this type of discussion ends here and now To me this news isn’t really surprising. Dissappointing news for sure as this really is another knife into construction and while I stopped buying the sets after Rogue One’s first wave, I do think the super battle droid and ATRT looked pretty good and were a nice change from what we have been getting. As always don’t forget- while another Lego theme may have ended, there is always fun yet to be had. We’ve got something crazy yet awesome in the works right now for Action Figure fans- so for those talking about leaving Eurobricks, don’t be so hasty

In my opinion the problem really started with the Phantoka. They were updates of characters that had established Bionicle and that we did not have any new sets of since 2003, but they took majorly drastic changes from the 2001-2003 designs. I didn't mind the continuation of the Inika build (considering it made all of the characters feel more consistent from 2006 onwards) however the Phantoka came with many issues, such as an overabundant use of grey, odd color choices (all lime green for Lewa instead of bright green, orange for Pohatu) and their designs really didn't share a whole lot of the same aspects, other than a few easter eggs in the masks. Kopaka lost his shield and blade and instead only had a blaster, and Pohatu didn't even have hands. The Mistika took these problems and dialed them up to 11. They replaced grey with silver, and what was once their primary color became hardly even a secondary accent color- to add to that, Tahu was no longer bright red and Gali was no longer bright blue. Instead of one character from a team of Toa using only a blaster, we now added Gali and Onua, making three Toa in one team with only blasters. And while the Phantoka had masks that called back to the original designs, it was very clear that the design of the Mistika was in no way meant to evoke the original Nuva designs at all. Onua even lost his short stature. As sets, were they awful? No. They might have relied on blasters way too much, but they brought us a different looking team of characters from the Inika/Mahri, shaking things up with a more dull color scheme (which would be reversed in 2009) But the largest drawback was that they carried the names of the Toa Nuva, and the Toa Nuva we remember - they were not.

I’m definitely on the boat that is loving this series- all of the new parts look completely awesome and I can’t wait to have these in hand. It’s a bright and fun wave of Minifigures and is a nice change of pace, even the classic policeman is a cool 60th anniversary toss-in. With that said, this might be one of the easiest series to do the “feel test” on given all of these unique molds

I've wanted to get into the modular series since CC but never have; In terms of what is available in Lego stores right now, what would everyone say is the best set to go out and grab? The Parisian Restaurant or Assembly Square look the most enticing to me from glancing at the most recent magazine, but of course that doesn't show the fun in building or owning the sets.

This is definitely a really cool and inspiring project. I like that you show picture of the actual versus the Lego version, really showcases all of the details that you are packing into here. I'm actually quite tempted now to take on a similar project!

Yeah, a simple google search will lend you the results you want most likely. TO be honest, Han is probably my least favorite figure so far. He's nothing revolutionary of course and fits very similar to my thoughts of Luke and Finn- But the likeness of the character's headsculpt here is pretty bad in my opinion, and its not helped by the fact that I do not like this version of Han, I'd much rather have gotten one based off of Harrison Ford, or even the new solo with the classic clothes. I plan to get most figures as they go on sale, but that may be the first one I take a hard pass on. The range trooper looks really good, unsurprisingly, although I have never thought pistons on the feet like that looked good.

I'm mixed on my opinions on this one. First, the price-per-part ratio sounds good at first, but when you figure that 280 of those pieces are 1x1 trans light blue studs, then you are left with about 680 elements which makes more sense given the $70 price tag. So I mean the price is fair given what you get, but not as astronomically crazy as some people have been pointing out. (better deal than the Architecture sets though which rely on those smaller elements) Compared to the original, I think that the ship looks far worse and less detailed due to the decrease in size and parts count, however I like the look of the bottle (and the stand) far more, so it's a tradeoff. With that said, I love the concept of this set, and I think that given the restraints Ideas sets sometimes have, this is a pretty good translation of the original MOC into a set-worthy design, and definitely something I plan to pick up eventually.

We are certain about both as pictures do exist. The trooper is a 501st trooper with a blue ATRT

The super battle droid is gunmetal. I’m Interested to see how the head elementworks- it appears to be a large piece that fits over the top of the figure (in conjunction with the usual torso shell) sort of in a Humongosaur style The fact we are getting one does give me hope that we may we may see a Droideka eventually.

And to add to the excitement some further 2018 sets were leaked today, I noticed they were being discussed in the regular System Star Wars thread but not here about them- construction Super Battle Droid and 501st Trooper with AT-RT are coming.

What I think a lot of people need to realize is that you are looking at these sets as compared to Bionicle. Star Wars carries a brand name that hold 100+ times more value than the Bionicle name. Stores order far, far more of these sets than they ever ordered for Bionicle. I live in a fairly busy city where store shelves are often heavily shopped at, and Star Wars merchandise in generally always holds one of the largest aisles in the toy section, and when you look at the Lego section in general, 3/4s of it tends to be Star Wars. (at least, in my case.) Just because you see a lot on store shelves doesn't mean it isn't selling, it could mean that the store is constantly stocking it because they know it sells. I mean hell they do Force Friday for example, what other toylines have such a dedicated day to merchandise and products? Also, we are looking at these prices as Bionicle fans. yeah, the sets are pricey and make a Bionicle lineup look much better to your wallet. But these carry the Star Wars name. Lego is not just attracting fans of Lego here, they attracting people who walk into a store and want a SW figure. Everything with the SW name on it is going to carry a heavier price tag. And for a generic person walking into a target, they are not compring a Bionicle set to a Darth Vader buildable figure, they are comparing Darth Vader to other vader figures. Based on the prices of things like black series figures, the price gap suddenly becomes a lot less of an important factor. As for myself, I love star wars. Unfortunately these sets have just not been doing it for me. For parts they aren't horrible if you can get them for cheaper amazon prices, but as display pieces not so much. I've dwindled my collection down, and the higher end style that I'm shooting for in my home has left me appreciating things like Hot Toys figures more than these. And I'm personally not that interested in their builds at this point, and the prices make it hard to collect these- I haven't bought any since the Rogue One figures and probably won't be getting any others- The new Vader looks marginally better than the old one, and Boba is of course always a great design, but I think I'm just burnt out with these. I miss the originality of design of in house brands and that's really what I'm looking for from Lego with constraction.

I'm getting strong vibes of the game Fallout here, very future-retro and I love it. I haven't really collected the modular buildings at all and I can see how this really takes on a different aesthetic, but for those who said this might do well at attracting non-modular buyers you are certainly right. But I really do not like that car at all.

The rally car might be my first Technic set purchase in a long time- I just love the look of that thing. From that shot of it in the video I'm actually getting a bit of an RS vibe from it.

Did what i could while i currently only have about half a shoe box's worth of bricks to work with- ideal christmas tree is one that is slapped right next to a fireplace.
