I know Kylo has been seen without his hood in some of the trailers, but I must say he really needs the hood, that Helmet just looks so strange without it. (And I'm not rustling the toy for that, I think it looks weird without the hood in the trailers too) Rey has a decent face and Poes is hidden enough, but Finns just really doesn't do it for me. Not as bad as Luke because at least he has more color to his outfit, but just that actors face in general is difficult to translate to a toy of this level, certainly not going to get Hot Toys quality here. With that said, with a head sculpt, even if it's the best Lego could have done, I can still hate it.

No one is safe Anyway have my Dec 17th ticket, December couldn't come soon enough.

Well theres quite a few that are different: Turn the wheel on the chest to trigger arms Turn the wheel to rotate the torso and start whirling blade Turn the wheel on the chest to trigger the weapon. Turn the wheel to rotate the torso to a fast action game I'm guessing it's all the same thing, but odd that they would word them all so different.y.

Well there is confirmation that Umarak is possessed by Makuta. Also a torso-turning-arm swinging gimmick

[MOC] Skull Smasher, Steampunk Aggressor
VBBN replied to TheOneVeyronian's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The problem here is, I really struggle to see this as steampunk. Making something gold and brown doesn't necessarily make it steampunk (and if you are going to call it something, expect to get flak for calling it that if it doesn't convey it ). Steampunk is usually described as being the past if the future came early (or something to that extent) and has to have a few major components, the most obvious of which is steampower. I would have liked to have seen this guy running on steam, to show how out of time he really is. And yes, gears/clockwork is a major design choice for many steampunk visions and would be very fitting, even if they don't function they are a visual aspect of the theme. Gold, brown and gray is the most typical color, so, you wouldn't be throwing much off by incorporating that color. And actually I might disagree to some extent with the head- I like the choice of mask, it's very fitting for a mechanical-steam-abomination that just climbed out of the dirt, and I have seen plenty of things that are huge bodies with small heads that work, but it's placement on top of that shield is a very strange contrast to me. -
Why would he need a custom torso? He's not a large character, and his torso can easily be emulated with the torso shell piece. There are far more characters that could sensibly use a custom torso. As for the interchangeable limbs, because that's one of the few things about him that actually makes him interesting as a character? Story wise, his silver leg was because his leg was blown off by a bomb and it was replaced wiht the only one they could find, and of course a comic is being made to explain how he has a new red arm in TFA. It's not like we are throwing them in there for no purpose, he is literally a decaying droid that is slowly replacing himself with mismatched parts. And while they could just release him with the red arm and silver leg and ignore his all-gold form, again, there is no way he would reasonably need a price tag higher than that of Cody/Jango/Luke.
-
Or if you read my post, as I noted C3PO doesn't have any additional add-ONS like a backpack or weapon, interchangeable limbs would be the only way to put him into the standard pricing range as others.

It's a bit hard to tell if that's sarcasm or not but I do think that they looked awful on the Vikings creatures. Some parts made some sense, like Bohrok arms which didn't have any mechanical detailing, but the Fenrir Wolf was an abomination. But yeah, using the HF/Chima fur is a much more logical choice for a Chewy set. Although I would assume he would have hair details in his headsculpt which could look very disjointed with hair armor shells (and lets not forget the torso shell would be very odd if it were smooth) He seems like a good choice for a big character, but I really don't think an entirely hairy being would be my first choice of something to translate to CCBS. I would still be willing to bet that we will see C-3PO at some point. I know many have said he would be lacking in accessories because of a relatively simple build and no weapons- but what about spare limbs? I certainly wouldn't mind if we got a fully gold figure, and then got a silver leg and red arm to match his on-screen visual changes. Clearly scavenging parts is something he actively does being such an old Protocol droid, so I think it's as fitting of a feature as any.

In a way I like that the heads combine, in the same way that there are special combiner-mode heads for TF gestalts. At the same time, from what I have seen so far, I can't say I really like how the creature heads look on top of the Toa's masks- and in general I'm not sure that I can get behind them all having one shared mask again. It worked to an extent with the protectors, but now it really looks off. A fish, scorpion, insect, mole/bear/thing, and a phoenix should really have some very different faces. Of the 6, I think the only one where the mask looks entirely great on is the Phoenix. Of course I eagerly await having them in hand to be the judge of that myself, but as far as what we've seen, it's not one of the high points of this wave for me.

Firstly I would advise against such use of font size in the future. Secondly, your request was not ignored, in fact the updates are done and are going to be rolled out soon along with a multitude of other things that are currently in the works. I know all of these updates that have been promised have been a long time coming, but do understand that myself, my staff, and all of our fellow staff have lives outside of Eurobricks and anything we do here is voluntary and sometimes real life can slow things down on here. I can guarantee you I am aware of every post in this subforum and anything at all that is a recommendation, comment, criticism, etc is noted, recorded, discussed, most certainly not ignored or forgotten. All input is appreciated. We will continue to watch how it progresses throughout the year- again it's much easier to have started with them separate and combine them if need be later on as opposed to trying to go through and split a behemoth like the 2015 thread. Also to note: The review index is now no longer pinned, it can be accessed through the general index. This is to prepare for the upcoming new indexes to make navigation easier.

I just really don't see how returning to an old location makes it a G1-G2 crossover in any sense of the word. I bring up Transformer comparison quite often and again it makes sense here, Transformers is constantly rebooting the theme with the the same characters and rewriting them from their previous selves, usually offering no connection to the past shows/stories other than design cues (which obviously we have seen with this year's Toa and of course the Nuva symbols on next years), and they re-use old locations like Cybertron with no issue. You could say that Mata Nui being a physical being makes it more than just a location, but let's not forget that at one point Cybertron itself was a transformer (Primus)- it's very logical to re-use an old location, just the same as it is to use old characters with completely new stories. Some people read farther into this than they should be without much proof to go off of for any true speculation.

For those wondering, the new Lego Media forum is not going to have a strong effect on the Action Figures forum. Because sets and story go so tightly hand-in-hand, I think it's best that it was all kept under one roof. As you know I did split the Bionicle thread between sets and story to see how it goes, but I have no plans to move the story threads into the media forum anytime soon. Fanfics and artwork will also be kept here, and any future games or movies are to be determined on a case-by-case basis, but again, most likely staying here unless there comes a need later down the line to split it.
-
I would be okay with returning to the island of Mata Nui and its locations as long as it was just that- don't bring in any of the same story elements as G1, just some familiar scenery Although I have been a fan of some okoto architecture, especially structures that are forerunner-like in appearance.
-
This lineup looks far better than the first already- The GT and Raptor sets are insta-buys for me, and possibly the eTron as well as it's one of my favorite prototypes.
-
Oh how I wish we had something like that concept art, those shoulders and mask are fantastic and give him such a cool "undead mammoth" sort of look. (yeah yeah Mungus I know)

Well, I think "favorite and least favorite" makes more sense as best and worst would imply functionality wise, but anyway, G1 Favorite: I'm going to go against the grain here and say the great Volitak (Nuparu Mahri) and Maxilos' mask, mostly because I absolutely love gas masks and both of these had that look to them. Least Favorite: Olmak. There's really nothing I enjoy about it. Hero Factory Favorite: Core Hunter without a doubt, but I also loved the versatility of the BP/Voltix/Speeda Demon helmet. Least Favorite: Anything from Brain Attack honestly.

I've said before that I am a seasoned user of Reprolabels for Transformers, and after applying like 100+ onto my Titan class Metroplex I like to think i'm a sticker application pro at this point. The secret is tweezers As for geared-swivel waists, that just happens to be the one function I never liked in Bionicle G1 and if that is indeed returning, well, meh. Can't say I'd be keeping that function if it detracts from the look of the set in any way. Well, I liked it on the mata-toran with the kohli sticks, but that was the only exception.

The chestpieces being one large, chunk of color is really detracting for me on the characters that use them in metallic colors. Onua seems a bit overpowered by the metallic color, whereas the plate looks better on Kopaka and Pohatu, at least in my opinion. I almost wonder how dual-injected parts would have looked, with half of the chestplate being the Toa's respective color and the other half being their metallic (silver or gold) color. As Kalhiki said, not having them in multiple parts really does limit what you can do with the color variations and printing can only do so much.

This isn't the place to discuss TTV. We have a community forum if you feel the need to do so, but the status of TTV or any other forum is not related to Bionicle 2016.

Either way i'm quite happy we are going to get two Umaraks. We are always getting new versions of Toa/Heroes but villains are too commonly one-and-done when some of them have great designs that I'd love to see reimagined.

Personally i'd rather see Lewa, Kopaka, and Pohatu get a round of gold while the other three get silver, give them the "better" armor for a time instead of repeating the same formula again. Not necessarily that I think it's an issue with colors, I just want variety. Also I didn't really say much about the whole texture conversation, but one example i'd like to use is Axonn. His look resembled that of a red figure wearing silver armor. While the mask and chest armor were smooth, they threw on random silver parts like the Hordika and visorak feet in silver, which then looked like a different type of armor than the rest and I found it distracting. With these sets I agree that some have way too many textures going on, the new "technic shell" doesn't remotely fit i with the look of the standard shell and spikes when used all at once. And personally I really don't like the look of the new crystal-whatever-it-is add-on. I'm sure many of you do, but I don't, so there's that. (For the record I thought the big Mata Nui set was the absolute worst that Bionicle's design got.) Yeah, that wasn't the response I was looking for. Time for a chat

I would suggest you change your attitude, this is a place for discussion but you aren't handling this in a calm manner. This isn't a political debate.

I couldn't count the ways in which this statement is wrong. Firstly, I'm not exactly sure what the MoCo has to do with this- we got the MoCr in 2015, the MoCo in 2016, and likely the MoUP in 2017. Three masks, three years. And with that said, don't forget that Bionicle has a 3 year development plan, which is far more than just "Hey lets make this theme for three years." There are agreements with vendors, publishers, etc that all tie in to the plans, and 2017's plans are likely already far in the development process. In fact what was made in 2015 likely took into account plans for the 2016 and 2017 waves- and from my findings Bionicle 2015 did quite well (being a Finance guy I'd love to see the hard financials but I'm going off word-of-mouth from vendors here) and I suspect 2016 will as well. And as it was stated elsewhere, the budget for the Star Wars figures was taken from the overall Star Wars budget. Each year has allocations of various things, that's why you see only certain amounts of sets and certain numbers of each theme.

I did notice that the Toa seem to be a bit less exaggerated in their proportions this time around (no more hunchback Lewa, snowsuit Kopaka, Onua is of course not as wide, etc) the main form of personality outside of [insert feathers here] comes in the form of the creatures combining with the Toa. As a result to Toa are a bit more basic in their overall shape, which I think is what's throwing me off. But I've had some time and these sets are growing on me. I'm not really sure what Melum is supposed to be, he looks to be about the same build as Terak. I hope I get them for reviewing

Oh dear, that new blade is being used in takanuva staff level amounts And I really don't like those masks. With that said those lower leg plates on Kopaka are quite intriguing and I'm curious just how much they are used in these figures
