Can Star Wars battlefigures make my Galidor stuff useful?
VBBN replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in LEGO Action Figures
No one will ever use Galidor in as bizarre of ways as our old friend bigfatslob.. With that said I would love to see Nick or Allegra updated in a CCBS style. -
I would like to add to this that leaks also can risk Lego's relationship with other companies. The Force Awakens is a prime example, leaks had to be kept under control as much as possible because there is a relationship between Lego and Disney there that needs to be maintained. If a company is constantly letting it's confidential information leak out (mind you, a confidential watermark is not just a watermark, it is there for a reason.) that can hurt their reputation. I think after this point they should have found a better way to control their leaks, but oh well. They should just go the route of Hasbro/Takara and unveil products months before they are released, the only time there are ever leaks are when "no photography allowed" events and BotCon happen

Yes, it is, they are flipped (they are attached to his torso not his arms) to provide shoulder pads.

I can guarantee you it's not. But they are in gold with Tahu which I'm excited for. Also I must be one of the only people who never really liked the Vorox/Skrall armor

Actually the sizing isn't that far off from what it should be. Obi-Wan stands at 25.5cm tall, and Vader stands at 28.5cm. Using Ob-Wan as a "standard," 1ft= 4.25 cm. Vader stands 3cm taller than Obi-Wan, which would be the proportion 70% (3cm/4.25cm) Converting that back to our 1ft=4.25cm scale by multiplying the 70% to 12 inches, in toy form, vader would measure up to 6ft and 8.4 inches. Sorry to go crazy math here, but it's actually dead on accurate.

His build began with Jango's shin armor and went from there, and I really wanted to use that shield as a hat. Also the little story segment is going to be continued throughout my next few MOCs, it's the 'theme" of my next builds.

That second Kopaka is screaming Frost. As for the Toa masks, I feel as though the issue of masks reminding you of characters wouldn't be much of a problem if we had- you guessed it- mask packs. When I see the clear Hau used I don't think Tahu, I only think Tahu if I see that signature red color. Same story with the older sets, just because Vakama/Maku established the noble Huna, doesn't mean I thought Tehutti was wearing Vakama or Maku's face when he came out. Different colors go a long way.

Did you really need to post that in two separate (and old) threads? And I'll be merging these two threads as they are redundant
-
It is no problem, having more than one review of a set is never a bad thing- different photos, different thoughts etc are all encouraged! While I have been fortunate enough to be able to provide early reviews of Action Figures sets since Invasion from below, that does mean I am always doing the reviews and I don't want it to scare anyone else off from sharing their own reviews. Technically that argument can be reversed- Some people may not be pleased about having to leave Action Figures to discuss action figures if it were the other way around. I can assure you there was much discussion among the staff when we decided where to put the discussion of these figures. There has still been general discussion about them in the 2015 SW thread in the respective Star Wars forum, it hasn't been completely secluded here, however they were placed here in the same manner as the Chima action figures, the Marvel/DC Superheroes action figures, and the Ben 10 figures, all of which were separate from where their system counterparts usually lie.

Well, Phasma doesn't ooze female shaping. There are some differences, but from a practical standpoint I don't see us getting much beyond the regular armor pieces and torso plate, and flat silver or maybe using a similar effect that Jango uses with a dark gray plate with metallic silver paint on it (His chest plate) to give it that extra flare.
-
Yeah you'l have to use the longer lower leg bone, same with Jango.
-
Well I certainly wasn't on a bandwagon for wanting more creatures of any kind, but as long as there aren't a lot of spiders/scorpions I'm up for it.

You also have to take into the mind the cost of some parts of these sets- the molds for the heads are actually quite complicated to make and can drive the price up more than you would expect.

I tried to see what would happen if you used the new shoulder add ons, but some more extensive modding is going to be needed here- with these pieces its not possible to move the arms outward, otherwise the piece will go flying off. Although, if you flip the shoulder piece and put them onto the silver armor bits I put near his neck, that seems to work a bit better..
-
Oh hey, you're right! Looks like I'll be making a bricklink order soon I mean it's solidly built, but I dislike some of the choice of parts here- I think some system incorporation would have really fleshed it out more.
-
There is one photo with his arms together. If you have any specific requests let me know.

Actually I do believe it's silver, although I can see why Lego would rather go with gunmetal than to recolor two more parts- and I think it might be for the better, since silver would be a bit too overpowering. (Normally his cape covers a bit of it and wraps around with it and there is more black, in this case it would just be an overload of silver)
-
"No, I am your father" "U WOT M8?" Well, his upper shoulder armor is actually a gunmetal color, I think the fact that the printed chestplate is a bit smaller than it should be might be throwing it off and making it look like there's too much gunmetal.
-
His cape is a complicated one to make- red on the inside, light gray on the outer and plus the design on the back of it, and it's a fairly strange set of attachment points. HAS SCIENCE GONE TOO FAR?
-
I compare him most to Luke, since both have the same leg and body design- Instead of Luke's handcuffs and pistol, you get the loincloth, a cape and the new shoulder armor. I don't know how much of Luke's price the gun and cuffs are, but add that to the $5 and that's what extra there is to Kenobi. I'm not saying his price being more than the other three $20 figures isn't justified, but they are still on the pricey side as a whole- even with the sculpted heads.

And all of the reviews are done! 75107 Jango Fett 75108 Clone Commander Cody 75109 Obi-Wan Kenobi 75110 Luke Skywalker 75111 Darth Vader 75112 General Grievous Ran into some serious technical issues this time around and I completed these in about 4 days, but here they are! As always a massive thank you to Lego for providing us with this exclusive opportunity to review these sets, and I really do like these sets, moreso than the previous wave of superhero sets. Hopefully everyone is liking that I've started using Tahu as the "control group" fro size comparisons, he seemed like a figure most people would (and should) have.
