  1. Indeed: never be afraid to start from scratch again. I guess one of the most common errors in all kinds of areas is to stick with something you've started, because of the costs or time that went into it. In many cases those costs are sunk and it's better to start over from scratch. The beauty of it is that in many cases the time you've spent isn't entirely wasted: you've learned important lessons and - next to hopefully having a firmer idea of what you want to create - you have also made errors you do not have to make again. Peppermint M's idea book is a good idea too. Write down ideas with some concrete ideas for techniques, special parts, etc. that you'd like to incorporate. And keep revising the idea book.
  2. Really nice MOC L-Space. I agree with Sandy on the architectural details. The way to attach those 1 x 1 rounds to the wall is pretty clever. Did you make an interior for it?
  3. That's even better, like the pirate telescope on the front/bottom. Excellent idea.
  4. I'd make it fit a 'rod' instead of a stud at the bottom (oh, man this can be interpreted wrongly ), that way it can swivel on - for example - , plus you'd be able to make it slimmer.
  5. I'm starting to think you're right. Here's a cut-out of the moment you're referring to. The box art indeed shows the red railings and the actual set displayed (next to the spokesperson's head) shows the rather tall light posts.
  6. It will be presented in February at NY Toyfair and will be sold as of June together with the other June releases according to this post.
  7. We need a shudder emoticon, but lacking that: Anyway, back to the MOC: This really deserves to end high in the rankings of the large category of PTV2. I really like a humorous take on these contest themes.
  8. Proving Big Cam's point exactly...

That's what I'm starting to 'fear' as well. I was under the impression it was the least favorite, but maybe that was just AFOLs' opinions. It makes sense actually given that we've had something like town square with Town Plan and City Corner, we'll get a passenger train that looks like a 'city train' and most of what's on the artwork for the second option (public transportation center) has been - bus - or will be - taxi and 'city train' - released. The yellow truck pictured on the banner in the video could be included with a truck stop. But even though it's by far my least favorite option from the artwork, since it will be an exclusive set, I'm quite confident TLG will turn it into something good. * fingers crossed * New train station with a footbridge and a taxi (it's been discussed in the Trains 2010 topic).
  10. No, you're not...
  11. Take your time... no hurry. It's great you and EB are organizing this.
  12. ... and wise.

The banner in the bottom-right could be a monorail/elevated train station.
  14. As far as the Lego pictured behind the spokesperson is considered, I think all of it belongs to one of the four train sets which were rumored earlier and of which the boxes are shown in the back as well. The banner in the bottom-right may be the TRU exclusive... or does anyone recognize something in that we've already seen so far? My thoughts exactly. Clever move. Even better than the '?' in the Emerald Night video.

    MOC: Skidder

You really managed to capture the look of the original very well. It just looks a little 'too yellow' in Lego, maybe you could have tried to break it up here and there.
  16. The building is really amazing, but the supporting buildings are also really nicely done. And an excellent job on hiding the PF.
  17. Nice job. I like the relative simplicity of the front of the shop: just enough detail (especially the detailing below the roof is really nice). The detailing on the inside really captures the 'collecting atmosphere'. One thing: I prefer the 'open book' technique in the 10199 Winter Toy Shop to yours.
  18. It looks like the set pictured on the left - with the yellow taxi(?) - includes a footbridge and a platform that connects to the platform in the passenger train set: both have a yellow dashed trim (yellow 1 x 2 tiles I guess). These were the four train sets that were rumored earlier right: A passenger train, a cargo train, a station (the set with footbridge and taxi), and a level crossing with a maintenance vehicle (also pictured separately next to the spokesperson's shoulder)? Nice spotting, but I doubt this is an 'accident' by TLG. Why would a spokesperson choose to give an interview in front of a display with sets that no-one has seen before?

My thoughts as well. Looks like a train station with a footbridge. The station shares the same yellow dashed trimming (1x2 tiles I guess) as the platform in the passenger train set.

... I guess because it's part of the airport line. In the German catalog it says they're April releases, but the 'Smart' and the repair truck are on the same page too.
  21. Just feed Google: "549458270 seconds in years"
  22. The diamond shapes made out of cheese slopes are really nice. They fit the purple color scheme really nicely. The door technique is pretty clever too. Looking forward to how it will turn out.
  23. Thanks for the review. This is a true Lego classic. Too bad about the lacking tail lights though (it only has a big break light).
  24. Get back in line...
  25. 32, there's too many kids around here...
