  1. This turned out great Rufus. I'm impressed at how you managed to convert a box of chewed, grimy bricks with badly worn stickers into this. And you top it off with an excellent review. Right, moar LEGO is always 'handy'. I think that has to do with the 'black dot' on the front of the 'neck' wearing over time: I also noticed it reduces friction and makes some heads come off with the headgear, which can be annoying because heads get stuck in the helmets and for the knights you'd need a torso with enough friction to remove them. Because the castle is built on baseplates, the hinges only work on the edges of the baseplates. So, it's a necessity, but - I agree - a nicely executed necessity. Now that I think about it, that's probably also the reason why a lot of 1980s castles were built on 2-wide plates instead of larger (base)plates. Too bad some of these have to be applied across multiple pieces. TLG does a lot better in that respect these days. But then again, they also have larger pieces available to make sure the stickers don't span multiple pieces. I'm delighted. (I was just surprised that being such a perfectionist in other areas, you were willing to settle on bley). Do eet!
  2. As bad as this is for you, this is not really a discussion topic. The way you present it now, it sounds more like a way to vent your (understandable) frustration. I'm sorry, but topic locked.
  3. Very nice work Lorax. I like the landscape and as been said a number of times, the house really comes across as being made of straw. I really like that you've also included the other two pigs and their building materials. I'd love to see you continue the story: just two more houses required.
  4. Are these Chinese by any chance? There is a huge colour inconsistency and the differences in shape of some of the parts is well outside regular tolerance levels.
  5. The narrow pass through the rocks combined with the tower guarded by undead archers makes for a menacing sight. I really like the colours you picked for the Nocturnus lands, dark gray and dark tan. Great build Taz.
  6. I thought you were just happy to see us all get killed. But yeah, I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the massacre game.
  7. Welcome! As you have probably noticed, the language used on this (international) forum is English. Could you please provide an introduction in English?
  8. Great work. I really like the colour scheme and the little garden in front of the house.
  9. Uhm,... that's what happens to him usually when he plays.
  10. I was just referring to random meal selection order, not random meal selection. From day 2 on the order was unpredictable to us as well. I thought it would be voting order for the rest of the game, which it clearly wasn't. Of course a large part of the strategy in this setup is and should be keeping the 'good' meals.
  11. The meal cart order for day 2 was based on the voting order on day 1, but this was not the case on the subsequent days anymore. We anticipated it would (could) be based on voting order, which is why I voted first on day 1. Hinck did a lot to be fair to different time zones. I think a random meal selection order would work just as well.
  12. Thanks for inviting me to play and for an entertaining game Hinck. As usual, the presentation and narrative were great and hilarious at times. It's good you tried something new. Personally, I don't like these shared action games too much and combined with the 'gang war' concept they're too far from the traditional mafia concept for my taste (I realise a lot of people actually liked the setup a lot). Also, I somehow thought you intended the game setup to be a mystery for much longer, whereas I think most gangs (except the El Plutns for obvious reasons) found out on day 1 already. Add another day (or two) and everyone had all the gangs figured out. The shared actions concept makes it difficult to develop longer-term strategies. Also, I feel my early death in def's previous game, didn't give me the experience in dealing with these shared action games that many others did have. You did put a lot of thought into improving the meal selection system though. I thought I had it figured out for the rest of the game when it was based on confirmation order on day 1 and voting order on day 2. As was said, you had to be lucky with your team to be spread across the meal cart order a bit in order to start learning about actions. That gave the El Plutns a disadvantage really early in the game already. Oh, and congratulations Mars Savatrucha... "while two dogs are fighting for a bone..." I'm looking forward to a more traditional mafia game again. I personally like a mafia game with a twist or two to keep it fresh (like The Baritones 3 for example). And I'm sure you can't wait a whole year before hosting The Forest 2.
  13. Once this leaves the test stage, you will be one of the first to be migrated to a new username considering your current name starts with 'LEGO' and ends in a number.
  14. Even though it's pinned?
  15. Who'd cut up a 2 x 4 brick? Yay for prime numbers!
  16. I didn't comment on your previous step, but I'm impressed at your designs 82! They look a lot better than the originals. I really like the 'fatter' crown. And I'm glad you managed to fix the chevron shield, because that shape was looking a little weird. So, I'd definitely replace that as well. Too bad it doesn't look as shiny as the first try. Did you apply acrylic lacquer again? Anything that looks closer to dark red wins of course. Seriously, I much prefer the new colour and whereas it's a little darker than the original, I think it looks a lot better than the original and combines much better with the blue torsos.
  17. It is clearly stated in the rules that you should play the game in the day threads only and should address questions about the game to the host. How difficult is that to understand? I think people are just not reading the rules carefully enough. And one mistake is still understandable, but the rules have been reinforced and explained over and over again in this discussion thread. It has been clearly explained why the discussion thread had to be locked virtually every game day. If someone doesn't understand then, well, maybe mafia isn't for them.
  18. I absolutely love this review Pandora. You've provided an amazingly in-depth look at a real Fabuland classic in your usual informative but very amusing way. I like that you present such a detailed view of the box. The 1980s boxes were great, because they showcased a set really well. All the interesting parts were prominently displayed in the trays that featured in the bigger sets and the back of the box was always a real treat with nicely presented alternative builds. The same goes for the instruction booklet. Your booklet looks in excellent shape and you made sure to archive it for future generations. The way the set is built by the characters themselves is simply adorable. It really is a shame that LEGO decided that the Fabufigs needed to be changed halfway through the 1980s. The addition of torso prints is a nice touch, but... the eyes... the first generation figures were really cute, but some of the second generation figures look a bit creepy. The parts and the accessories included with the set more than make up for that though. The bay window, the grey roof pieces, the phone, the petrol pump, the bench... It really is amazing to see all the new parts that were introduced for Fabuland and the limited amount of sets they were often used in. I don't think that would be possible anymore today. The numbered stickers on the Fabuland buildings mostly correspond with the last two digits of the set number, so your 3675 set indeed gets number 75. It's nice that you decided to have the Fabufigs build the store as they do in the instruction booklet. I fully agree with your evaluation of the large prefab wall elements. The windows and doors are great designs and they allow small children to quickly construct a building, but I really don't like the way they line up in corners either. I also like that you seem to make a tradition of showcasing some of the alternative models from the back of the box. Wacky as they may seem, they would surely stimulate children's imagination. I love that final picture.
  19. We'll all be equal...* * Disclaimer: some more equal than others
  20. Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh. More specifically, it is meant to prevent people from prepending their usernames with words such as Clone, Commander, or Captain or appending it with a random series of digits.
  21. TLG is taking over Eurobricks! All the staff are Brickbots now.
  22. You're alive :)

  23. Again... this is playing the game outside the day threads. You should be asking questions like these to the host via PM.
  24. Happy Birthday Pep!

    Hey there crocodIzzy ;)
