Details are getting worked out. Part of the consideration is that Avalonia is a large guild, and I do not think we need 30 towers or 30 different wall sections if everyone had that as a task. Also not everyone has the bricks to build a large tower to defend our capital and even if they did, not everyone wants to build another tower either. I know Artorious Rex is kicking around a few ideas, but I think he will definitely be offering choices on what people want to build. Part of offering choices though is deciding who gets to build what if many people have interest in the same thing. It may take a little bit of time to work through all the kinks. It is also important to remember that though our leader wants people to have lots of freedom in designing what they want, we also want some reasonable sense of scale and cohesion too. It is a tough task, so Artorious is figuring out what will work best for everyone. There would probably be room, and there is likely the opportunity for members to design a home that will be in the capital, but I would guess many Lords or champions spend much time residing over their own lands in their own homes.

Very nice. I know how hard it is to make a sloped base like good as you have here. This is really top notch. I think I would have made the mill either a little taller or a little slimmer, but I know how hard that is with an angled base like you made here.

I can see the Derfel influence, but you certainly added your own personality here. Really excellent work. I love the "grill" plates on the shutters. Most excellent. Come to the grasslands brother and join mighty Avalonia.

Well with exception of "Fellow" or "MODERATOR", your "group" as in Citizen, Knight, Duke etc. comes via number of posts. I do think you should be happy your title is "Master Drow Builder" and not "Grateful he is not a Lady" though.

You're welcome. Like I said, and as others have echoed you did a great job of making the scene feel alive but you had enough control to show us some great building skills. Keep it up and you are sure to be blogged again.

As I said in our guild thread, great MOC. It looks simple, yet you used so many good techniques. Goes to show, sometimes the best MOCs aren't the biggest! Also, photos are just insanely excellent. Proud to have you in our guild!

We haven't set anything in stone (pardon the pun) for the capital yet. Derfel simple said he wants the capital rebuilt and he wants it to be mighty. I am inclined to believe there are plenty of buildings in the capital city that can be as unique as you want. I don't know the details or assignments, but those with fewer parts and more color variety should be able to find something to help build the capital, even if they have limited bricks. I would simply suggest those with fewer gray bricks pick something other than a tower or gatehouse or what not to build when we sort out how the capital build will progress. I am sure Derfel does not want to exclude anyone simply because they are not as loaded with bricks as others. I would also stress the "main" challenges presented by the history moderators are more important for earning our guild points, so if you are looking to devote extra resources to gaining bricks, I would wait to see what those challenges have to bring. Remember, the biggest MOC is not always the best. I really think Brickdoctor's MOC tower is one of the better ones we've seen and it is certainly not too brick intensive. Good call Jason- Derfel's style is very much what I would say we are going with. It is no secret our guild has its roots in Arthurian legend, so we are a very mystical, strong guild with what is hopefully going to be a grand capital. I also think the kingdom of Rohan from Lord of the Rings has a similar feel and color palate to what we are doing (plus they are horse people), but that is my opinion.

Yes! Exactly. There are trebuchet designs that use that if you do a google image search you will see few. I really liked that design.

Yes... and we will be needing many an architect to build the capital. I hope you saved some gray bricks!

Are you talking about a title under one's name... like mine says "Classic-Pirates inhouse ship expert" and de Gothia's says "Faction man"? Those cannot be changed by the member, the mystical powers that be at Eurobricks can change them. I would never request a title or a title change, they just sorta come and go when a memeber does something cool and a moderator etc. feels like they need a title. Same thing with tags. I don't know when I got the MOC expert one, and I SHOULD have a Classic-Pirates Crew tag, but those are also given, by the powers that be.

Sure seem to be a lot of Nocturnians in that nuetral tower...

Dreamweb beat me to the blog, so I will just post here. I remember all of those from the idea book. I also seem to remember one of them had like half the instructions missing. Those are very cool in CAD format. Good work!

I will post final pictures soon (these are before I added the sling and made final adjustments)... But here is a little teaser to wet the appetite. Only "non-Lego" parts are some string, dimes in the counter weight, a ribbon as the sling and a "jump ring" on the sling to attach it to the release point. I am most happy it fires! Check out this shot! Too bad River Run watchtower is so solid it didn't take any damage!

M'Lord, Years of peace have allowed our capital’s walls to weaken and wither. Our great hall is in disrepair and no man has kept our keep. In recent days our capital has been penetrated by spies and ruffians. As Commander of the Capital, it has become most evident to me that our defenses need strengthening and our capital need be returned to her former glory. I request we recall all our architects and great Lords to the capital to rebuild her to her former glory. As Commander, I will present our building plans to the architects and Lords for consideration. Assignments to be doled out as M’Lord sees fit.

Simple but beautiful design. I like that it appears to be quite mobile AND deadly. We certianly need a few of these in case the drow or Nocturnians get bold.
