    Sienna

When I am not building ships or going to school, I am fairly busy with computers, so I have canned air everywhere!... in my apartment, in Saint Paul, 180 miles from my parents house... so I would need to buy some exclusively for dusting the ships, or bring some with me. My parent's hometown is very small, and there is only one or two places to get canned air. I plan on doing so sometime, but until I start rebuilding, it is a fact of life!
  2. Yes, yes... I believe that guy has a Samuri head on. It is actually one of my favorites for Captains of ships. Here is a shot of the head I used. I rather like it actually! If it is too small an outside link to a set that contains the head. Peeron

    Sienna

Yes, well the flags are mostly there so that it has a matching type element with the larger ships. Kinda keeps them looking like they all sail under the same group. So anyhow... the new Sienna is going to be WAY different than the current. It will actually use the narrower hull pieces (because the new Covenant will be using the larger ones now) and will be made to be a very fast and maneuverable ship as it will carry a small group of marines to capture (or re-capture) pirate vessels. Pirates usually far out numbered their prey so that they could capture ships without doing large amounts of damage to them. Asymmetrically warfare, is their game, but even when these marines are not matched one on one with the enemy, they need not be because of their training and weaponry. That is what the royal navy hopes the marines and their ship will do, overmatch their enemies by use of elite fighting units! The new Sienna, in fact, is a recaptured and modified ship that was popular with Barbary pirates. It was chosen for its unique speed and maneuverability in any wind conditions, and though it sacrifices firepower for speed, it will be decently formidable in it's own right! Stay tuned for Christmas when she is unveiled!
  4. or maybe this is the link to the Covenant BS folder itself. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=214740
  5. I only used the narrows because that is all I had. I took the brown ones off the arbiter because I had enough white ones for it. The brown hulls I did have went into making a ship. I did it really quickly without thinking about its design too much, I just had the pieces to make another ship, so I did!
  6. At least two of the ships... but to be honest, there might actually be a NEW ship and two overhauls. We'll have to see!
  7. Stay tuned. I think I am going to be doing several overhauls over Christmas time. I have an idea that will be very different. Hopefully I have learned a thing or two while building the Harbor that will translate well to the new ship(s). I am expecting the Sienna to replace the Covenant as second in command as well, we'll see how that turns out!
  8. I am not sure. If I had to guess... Noon-a-vit, with a really short v. I suppose the question was rhetorical or sarcastic... but I thought I would give it a shot anyway!
  9. Though I would question the color scheme to a certain extent, if each building is owner independently, that would explain why the colors are not standard across the board. Though I don't really think gray and yellow, gray and red is okay!
  10. Well Indian would be because the original explorers thought they were IN India, so they called them 'Indians', which of course, is probably worse than being called a native of a land mass that they were actually on. Maybe most tribes prefer to be referred to by their tribal identification like Sioux (actually probably not Sioux, I think that was some kind of derogatory slang term), or Lakota, or Apache etc., and now most speak English as a first or second language, so it is probably okay to be referred to in English. But I think it is often more important to people being politically correct than it is to the Native Americans themselves. Like African Americans often say they don't mind or prefer 'black', the same is probably true of Native Americans being called 'Indian'. In terms of the Inuit, they maybe the same way, and prefer 'Eskimo', but who knows, North Americans general hear a little more about them than others because they now have an entire province in Canada that they govern (Nunavut? I am not sure how it is spelled) which was added recently, and, of course, many live in North America. There probably are not many Inuit in Australia!
  11. heh- Phes knew to be politically correct about 'Native Americans' but not 'Inuit'. Hehe, maybe Phes would have been more careful if we were talking about 'Aborigines', or he were from Canada. Anyways, I don't mind the combination, but it is a little odd for the Native Americans to be built into the side of a cliff with a more 'Plains Indians' type living structure (tipi). It looks like you want a jungle cliff side, with lodging that was more conducive to flat, open lands. (Hey look at me, Citizen! And I did it without spamming! Yippee!!!)
  12. Hmmm... so I will stick with my original theory, the dock is mostly old brown, not faded and the pirate pieces are faded old brown. I still think you have a couple of reddish brown pieces in there though, such as the piece with the cannon balls on it, and the last step to enter the classic house.
  13. Pesky Kracken, always destroying my ships and sending my treasure to the bottom of the sea. I object to Goulrelam bringing said beasty into our Lego world, as it will surely cause death and destruction on an unimaginable scale. As for the capstans, I like all the designs fairly well, and with a little modification to the design, there is no reason Phred's capstan couldn't raise and lower with a technic axle! (if he were going through something with a round, as opposed to crossed hole)
  14. If you look close enough, I think you can see a few bricks are reddish brown (new brown) but most are something else... and that still doesn't match with the cannon wheels, or barrels. Hmmm... 3 shades of brown? I think the cannon wheels, barrels and chests are old brown, faded, the dock is old brown not faded and then there is some new brown too! Pretty good little fella there, You did a good job of position everything and adding some nice details. Someone already said it looks like "box art" and I have to agree, very nicely done!
  15. Okay, only two more sections to go! Once you get passed the draw bridges, you are on the side of the harbor featuring a stockade. I intentionally placed the stockade on a different section than the armory and fortress. I figured escaped pirates don't need to be causing any more ruckus than escape itself would. The only thing in the CAD design that I never got around to finishing was a gallows. There is a place for one in my harbor, but it is currently empty. First the requisite CAD shot! Actually three shots of the stockade as it developed. A few shots of the complete Lego version! The prison administrator on top of the watch tower. His office is below. A prisoner marches to the second level of the stockade The docks outside the main gates. A peak inside the administrators office. Not much room to work in there, so he only gets a single table and a little map to look at in his spare time. The administrator's office is also removable so you can see the doors and main entry below. I am not sure what this little out cropping is supposed to do. I think mostly I just wanted some one to be able to watch the side for incoming prisons etc. On to the cells themselves. Like the store house, the roofs are magnetic and removable! Besides the cell upstairs, there is another large one downstairs. Easy to access when the upper floor is removed via technic pins (of course) A shot of the stockade area with all of the level removed.
  16. Start Monday, go for TWO weeks! They art not fun :-(
  17. Well believe it or not, I am in Law School in the US. as such, when we have 'finals' they are the only evaluation we receive all semester. They are really all or nothing type super stressful situations, so I am not going to get a chance to even drive all the way to my parents house to work on the ships. When I do get to the ships, I think I am going to work on the Sienna and the Covenant first!
  18. They are going to remain blue for now. I have much more pressing matters to attend to!
  19. Come to think of it... I am not even sure why it is blue! I was using white and black everywhere, then, all of a sudden, blue... there doesn't seem to be a reason for that, who knows, maybe I just had the tall blue slopes, thought they were a cool design element, but had no where to use them! The narrowness is due to the hulls only being used because they were left over from the original Arbiter. I wonder if I have a picture of the old guy somewhere... oh well. These ships are all a couple of years old at least now. Maybe I should retool them all in CAD now that I am older and wiser. I must admit, of all the ships I have, the Covenant is the most last minute and certainly my least favorite. I just made it because I had all the left over hulls. I don't like the second mast, the stern castle, or the bridge all that much. But I had enough masts, hulls, and rigging pieces to do it, so I did. Perhaps it is in need of something a little more drastic. Stay tuned!
  20. Well as you will notice, the ships pilot... ah... steering guy... ah, well he probably has a name... is armed. Two of the clips usually hold his weaponry so he can steer hands free. The other two clips... I am not sure.maybe I ran out of 1x1 at the time, but had plenty of hooks! Because I had two, and I ran out of red ones. My choices were to use the blue ones, or brown ones, and since at my Imperials had Red, and all the Pirates had brown, I went with the blue. I think I had two green ones... did they make some green ones with the Armada sets? (Edit: Yes, the Armada Flagship had Green, Ship wreck island had blue) So Blue worked best with the scheme for what I had left over. Plus, were else would I put two blue ones? The Sienna would be the only other choice, but it might end up a larger ship soon anyhow.

    Sienna

Funny... Yeah, well, where they are stored they get dusty, but I need some time to get them all cleaned up when I am not building like crazy to finish large Harbors on time! If only I could stop time! Anyhow... they are the hulls from the Caribbean clipper, which also only used one hull piece. Originally I used the center hull section on a revamped Skull's Eye Schooner, but then the Sienna, a ship with no center hull section looked really out of place. I am thinking of revamping it to fit 10 Marines and some raiding gear, so it might end up longer.
  22. ZCerberus

    Covenant

This ship was only built because I switched the boat hulls on the Arbiter to white over from brown. The left over hulls meant I had the ability to build this one. I think the Covenant was mention in the Arbiter and Harbor posts, but I am not sure there was one dedicated to it!
  23. These two fellows were intended to be sister treasure ships. There are both single cannon ships with a little treasure hold underneath. They are obviously dwarfed by the Arbiter and the Covenant. they usually patrol the waters around my Imperial Harbor I know about the dust. First, the Fortune. Then the Adventure The sister Ships

    Sienna

Okay so this is the Sienna a very small ship that I have to complement the Arbiter and the Covenant. It will someday be the home ship of a small company of elite marines. I KNOW ABOUT THE DUST, but only had limited time since I was rebuilding the Harbor.
  25. If Phes says it stays, I would cast my vote for Eldorado Fortress... err... EF! I never had the trading post, and though I do like Red Guards (Imperial guards over the Imperial Soldiers) better and both Imperial factions more so than Pirates generally. I think EF used the baseplate better and had some unique ideas that put it over the trading post!
