  1. Good job with the photos. In focus, well lit, very nice. I do disagree a bit with Beery on the barrels. I don't mind the barrels as a way to add texture. With the flex tube in the smaller trees, giving them a little bend would also make the MOC feel more organic. Maybe even use flex tube on the bigger trees and give them a little tilt!. Others have made "scenery" MOCs so I think it is okay as a stand alone MOC, but I see where Beery is coming from. It seems like the perfect MOC to be one part of a fun story, or even a good candidate to have some hand soldiers hiding in the bush or something so the scene makes you image what might happen next! Anyway, Good work again Gideon, you are quickly becoming one of the best builders in Kaliphlin.
  2. We need to get Beery to make a few scenes in Nocturnus, the darker side of your MOCs would really shine there!
  3. Thanks for the review! Forest ambush and gatehouse do seem to be the ones to snap up.
  4. Nice work, though it looks like you need some help getting the most from your photos. Our root admin Hinckley has offered some photo tips Or if you don't have the space for a great set-up like his, you can try using some of the tips and discussion here!
  5. The Guilds of Historica is Eurobrick's exciting subforum providing a place for history fans to share MOCs, tell stories and compete for supremacy through fun challenges. Challenge VI just wrapped up and we had 25 stunning entries. Each Challenge VI entry consists of at LEAST three MOCs so click the pictures (they are all links) below to view MORE than 75 awesome builds! Want to join the fun? Follow this link to get started!
  6. And I know yours LD. Heck, I even have your address!!
  7. Looking at your style I think you would fit in well with Avalonia in the Guilds. If your not interested, that is cool, but you should check it out for some inspiration for your next set of MOCs.
  8. Yes- I totally wondered that. At this point though, the name is here to stay, so I guess we just have to go with education and shameless promotion!!
  9. Well to be fair, I am more or less in on it with them. I know all their secrets now, and even their real names. Like Rumpelstiltskin, when you know their real names they lose ALL their power. The main thing to be a good Historican is to indeed spread what you have learned in Historica to the masses. Make useful comments, invite people (politely) to Historica if they seem like they would be good fits. And of course prepare for the next round. There will certainly be some freebuild time, but hopefully the next chapters will be fun, different and better than the first round.
  10. Won't let a good MOC go unnoticed- for asking nicely for someone to frontpage some MOCs. BIG Cam all the way.
  11. Good job man. Looks like you got the picture linking thing down pat. GREAT photography. In focus, nice lighting, nice solid backgrounds. Excellent. You should really consider joining one of the Guilds of Historica!
  12. Not that I could... But what would you recommend the subforum be called or subtitled?
  13. Well at the time LotR first came about, it seemed like it would be replacing castle, at least for a time. That clearly was not entirely true. The Pirates forum, for example, had PotC because it was also viewed as a "replacement" for pirates. There was a time when I thought history would also be getting Lone Ranger as a replacement for Wild West, but the licensed guys wanted it. I have tried to get LotR segregated from History in various ways, but to no avail. I also tried various methods of trying to get more traffic in here from History and for us to travel into the history forum at large, but those have also been shot down. I think at this point those are all dead issues and I am not going to be able to get anything through.
  14. All guilds would still exist, but the conflict would center on just one guild and the story would not be one where the history of everything that occured before would be needed to partake. I don't want to say "civil war" since that was somewhat specific to my CH VI story entry, and the story voting has not yet commenced. As for the mechanics of how someone "takes a side"... well that is something we're still discussing.
  15. Well I already sort of did that. I think the mods would view yet another thread as just spam, even if it came from me. I think when the next chapter begins we need to be more focused and see if we can bring in more History members. I think the best way to do that is have a conflict centered on a single guild so new members can get in without needing to "catch-up". As cool as it is that our lands are already developed, it could be a fresh enough start to get new members.
  16. Good work. Excellent photgraphy, though the white flag up top is a bit washed out. This MOC is very Derfel-esque, were you inspired by some of his recent builds?
  17. Okay, so Flickr can be hard to manage depending on which device (like an ipad/iphone vs. computer) and which internet browser you are using. I guess you could pull the information you need out of the "grab the html code/BB code". From you link the code looks like this: <a href="http://www.flickr.co...05/8148423819/" title="The Chase by odidoma, on Flickr"><img src="ht**tp://farm9.staticflickr.com/8050/8148423819_7f0c7d2e6f.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="The Chase"></a> note: your code will NOT have the "**" I add in it. I had to do that so Eurobricks wouldn't automatically reformat that location as a link. You'll notice the stuff after <img src= is the location of the image. I made it bold so you can see it. That is the ONLY thing you need to input after you click the image to get the picture linked. That image would be pretty small though. Flickr automatically saves scaled pictures for you and the image locations are the same except they have a slightly different ending. Adding "_c" before the .jpg will automatically choose a picture that is 800 x 600. So after you click the image button your image location would be:ht**tp://farm9.staticflickr.com/8050/8148423819_7f0c7d2e6f_c.jpg note: your code will NOT have the "**" I add in it. I had to do that so Eurobricks wouldn't automatically reformat that location as a link. Right clicking on the image on a computer will also let you select an option like "copy image location" in firefox or "properties" in internet explorer which will allow you to either directly copy the image location or view the properties of the image which will contain the image location of the image in Flickr. Again, the image name should end in something like .jpg and adding _c before the .jpg will add an appropriate sized image for you.
  18. Can we get one of you photoshop wizards to get a Guilds of Historica banner... a small one... to put in some signature to promote the subforum? Like the red vs blue ones in the pirates forum, but maybe half the length?
  19. Yeah, I kind of assumed they would as well, but I have not heard it confirmed. Anyone know about some glow action? Maybe the older age grouping on the package means they forgo the glow!
  20. I guess we have this covered in your other topic. All about using the image link button and not trying to upload to EB. I think you'll get it once you check out the tutorials.
  21. I yelled at the History people for being scared to come in here and comment on all the MOCs, but it seems we are almost as bad about not wandering OUT of the subforum to comment on MOCs in the history forum at large. Maybe if we have posts out there with cool MOCs in our signature linking back to the Guilds they will click a picture every now and and again and FINALLY wander in here to see the wonder that is Historica. I know it seems like it is 90% LotR out there, but we have the best MOC experts in here now, so let's head out there and spread the knowledge! Pretty please? Pretty, pretty please!!
  22. Hey man, I am here to help. That is why they made me a regulator. It takes a while to get a hang of. You wouldn't believe how scary my first posts looked.
  23. First of all, I do like the tower. I also really like the swamp area/technique used there, very pleasing. I also love the minifigures running from the stone. It really adds to the feel. Now on to what disappoints me. This is a LCC build (totally cool to post them here of course) and you guys are all offering some great feed back and comments. Buurli is also a Historica member and none of you guys commented on this MOC which was for his challenge VI entry right here in the Guilds of Historica subforum... on Eurobricks... hello!! I noticed the Guildies don't venture out here to comment much either, so perhaps it is a two way street, but seriously, check out some of the builds in the subforum. I will emplore the Guildies to get out here and comment on MOCs as well, but come on! Some of the best builds out there are a click away in the Guild of Historica subforum and ya'll are scared to go in there!!
