PHOTO REVIEWS: Sonic Phantom & Gate Assault
Siegfried replied to The Middleman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Don't bump topics for silly reasons. Bloody Jay hasn't posted for 2.5 years so I doubt he, or anyone, cares that you think he has built it wrong. -
Very impressive! I've given making a RC LEGO car a go... but without much success. I first modded 8145 which worked but it was unreliable, and 8466 gave me similar results. I eventually decided that it'd be easier to build a car from scratch than to convert as I couldn't get the motor to work reliably. As you say in your E.R.T.W.D. post, the knob gears are the key. I watched the video and I was quite impressed how well it runs. I'll be downloading the instructions to see if I can learn some better techniques! BTW, what's the part count?

Jurgen Krooshoop has made a great Technic RC car MOC he calls "Little Devil". The best thing is, if you like it you can build it too as he's gone to the effort of making instructions! Read and see more here!

Thanks for saving me the searching time! Merged.

I would have taken a photo if you used it...

As a kid I had the 8888 Idea Book and I always wondered how good some of the designs were. For their time they were very ambitious... but quite unbuildable for me due to the parts needed. But to the rescue comes CP5670 who has built several models from 8888 and other Idea Books. Including... ...that stunning all-mechanical excavator... ...and that clock that always perplexed me! Find them and more here!

Since we eventually bought a pump, yes. But our kids were quite good for the most part and weren't too demanding at night. Yeah, I miss him. I'm not sure if you know this, but unlike many fish, Oscars show interest in the outside world. When I entered the room he got all excited and started expecting food and if I opened my mouth near the tank he would too. Quite remarkable for such a relatively small fish. Most cichlids seem quite smart... and most are trouble makers too! Like these? We had bristlenose catfish to help out. They did a good job at keeping the sides clean... ...but they didn't show much interest in LEGO care. Look to the bottom right; it's that submarine.... Cool fish though, probably my second favorite. For the most part they were quite reclusive fish and I suspect that's why they were selective cleaners. Sometimes I'd not see them for a week and I'd think they all died. Not a prob.
-
Thanks. I actually did like the sub, and that stayed in the tank for about six months. (The ship I broke after about a month as I decided it was too dominating.) I think he was quite happy, and he loved to dig up or dig out the LEGO. (Most cichlids love to dig, it's quite fun to watch them re-arrange the tank.) I made something to automatically pump one of these. The point of them is to allow mothers to store milk for later. For the record, the wife refused to use it, and sadly there are no photos as it was prior to the digital camera age.

I've done it... and I don't recommend it unless you are prepared to lose the LEGO. Prior to coming out of the closet I used any excuse I could to build "needed" stuff out of LEGO. A breast pump was one... and fish tank decorations was another. This was back in 2004 and I had got into fish keeping (it's a long sad story) so... ..while the tank was stabilising I made some decorations. Note for one how lame they are (it was my childhood LEGO, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it!), and secondly how clean they are. Fast forward just three months... ... It doesn't take long for stuff to start growing on it... ...and trust me; it's a lot of work to get off. I still have some pieces that I can't get clean. As a free bonus, he's another picture of my (now dead ) Oscar Cichlid, Bargearse. This guy used to eat food out of my hand; I'd hold it about 5 centimeters (2 inches for Yank types) above the tank and he'd (OK, "he" could have been a she ) grab it out of my hand, sometimes my finger as well. He was big too; about 15 centimeters (6 inches)! He especially loved eating smaller fish... I bet they have the time and money to keep the algae out.

Great work Fred! You're pretty smart for a security guard... I do! *Is there any trail of blood to indercate there the legs are? Also, was he cut cleanly or roughly?* ...after that I'm all for a trip to the library. Another death so fast?! I'd like to check if there's a blood trail there too, but all things considered I'd rather wait until we're all there. *(...and I'd like to have a piece of rib too... )* ....er Johnson, how long before we're considered missing and someone comes looking for us? I want to know too!

Indeed... so I'll move it.

Sorry! Sorry! I had severe computer related trauma today (almost resolved) that prevented me posting. I'll catch up soon.... -
Sure you can. I was just saying that it's hardly unique to have varied styles. Personally I think Nobuo Uematsu has an incredibly varied style, but I wouldn't go and say he's the only one that does. That was my point. But I wasn't trying to cause offence and if I have I apologise... and I think she's OK.

Not at all. As a Fellow you're a mod in Community. Use your discretion.

Just don't put LEGO in a fish tank. I did that once and I regretted it...
-
Yeah, but I recall it had an overpass as well. ...and even if I'm wrong I want one with an overpass!!!! (I'll have to make myself one this year to get over that childhood trauma.)
-
Partay! I love that book; I been wanting to make the racing-car 8 cake for a long time. (I can't find a pic of it either. )

If you truly believe that then you need to listen to more music. A lot more.

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Siegfried replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I wonder if the people who made the promo picture expected so much analysis over it! Considering the 8 mergings it's almost become the topic! I've always thought the rule "if it's not to do with building with LEGO then it's in community" was pretty clear, but as has been demonstrated not everyone feels that way. Personally I think it's more a problem of people rushing to be first than genuine confusion, but it's hard to be sure. I don't think the term "Multimedia" is useful any more (it's too 90s!), so I might propose a change to something like "Entertainment". (It's hard to find something that covers movies, games, books, music that isn't too cumbersome.) I do like the idea of a LEGO game forum... but I think that'll be more confusing as the board games would fit in both sections. Ultimately you can't please everyone... -

You've been here long enough to know where things go; you joined only a month after me! -
You're entitled to your opinion. That's my plan! You still want more clones? I have more than enough! Like many others I'd rather different figs. I do agree the price isn't right... but I have no intention of paying full price.
-
Actually you can't get much more Star Wars than the Juggernaut. It was the original design for the Hoth tanks prior to the AT-ATs. Thank you! The Juggernaut looks a lot more simple than I expected, but to be honest I'm happy with that. I can mod it to the standard I want afterall. I just need some parts like the wheels (which seem to be 2 x technic motorbike wheels) and plates to be able to make it. The underbelly does look rather lame though.... and I'm really sick of that skeleton.

Gee man, making someone explain their jokes is the pits. The points you get in the TT LEGO games are studs right? Well in Batman I have 4 Billion studs... which going by the Bricklink price is worth between 1 and 5 cents each. So assuming an average price of 2 cents this equates to $80,000,000 USD! Indeed! Let's hope there are no more topics though.
