I near-banned that attitude this year. Too often last year I bought sets on full price only to see then on sale weeks or even days later. This year I have been a good boy and I only allow myself to feel that way for cheaper sets.

Clone and Competitor Brands: A Clone brand or competitor brand, is a product manufactured by a legitimate company. For Example Oxford,Mega Blocks. Kreo or Character Building. These are companies that do not infringe copyrights and provide a competitor product, such as licenses and themes LEGO do not produce. It is fair to discuss, compare and share these brands and their products in the Community section of the Forum. Bootlegs, Rip-Offs and Fakes: These manufacturers copy designs and minifigures from LEGO, other companies and even fans, to produce their own infringing products which they then sell, often at knock down prices. There are hundreds of names attached to these products and varied quality between them. We will no longer accept discussion and sharing of these products on Eurobricks. Most of these "brands" are facing legal cases and we have no interest in supporting them by providing a place for their criminal products to be seen. LEGO Ideas: If you have a great MOC, that is also a LEGO Ideas project, you may present it on EB as you would any MOC, with a single link to the Ideas entry. Make the title about the MOC, not the Ideas business; don't be too shouty, and it is likely to be tolerated. You need to be thinking: 'I want people on EB to see my MOC and comment on it. If they like it, perhaps they'll support it on LEGO Ideas', rather than: 'I want Ideas support! If I post it on EB, perhaps more people will vote!. Selling, self promotion and promoting: New members are not allowed to sell/trade on this site, but we do allow long term members to do so in the Buy/Sell/Trade/Finds forum; be sure to read the rules to this forum before posting there. We occasionally allow exclusions to this rule but you need to contact the staff first. We NEVER allow the personal message system to be used to spam or contact members to make sales offers. If you engage in this practice, you will be subject to an immediate ban. The only time the personal message system should be used is when both parties have previously agreed to that form of communication. Images: Don't post images that are over 1,024 x 768 (or 768 x 1,024 for pictures with a portrait orientation) or are LEGO confidential. Images rarely need to be over 800 x 600, and any that are over 1MB (including GIFs) are not allowed unless there is admin approval. BMPs are never allowed. Avatar images should be 100 x 100 (and under 20k if hosted on EB), and may not be more than 400 x 400 (and 100k, even if hosted remotely). No animated GIFs are to be used as avatars. Before registering, please familiarize yourself with these tutorials to learn how to reduce your own images. Also, when quoting, don't quote images unless it is specifically needed. This just fills up posts with repeat images for no reason. If you find an image of a new LEGO set and it is incredibly blurry or stamped "Confidential", it is a leak-please don't post it here. If you are uncertain, PM a member of the staff for guidance and include a link to the questionable material. To add to what kimt just said, there is nothing wrong with posting in an old topic. Some sites have rules about that, but we don't. However, I do think offering improvement advice is more than a little bit odd.

I do. It must be a board bug. I just hit edit on a topic, and when I finished editing I noticed the button said "Reply" rather than "Submit modified post". I pressed it anyway and hey-presto, instant double post.

That is very good. I have had a similar problem before, but it didn't bother me. Now if I bought a set for the tires I would do the same! My record for customer service is a replacement motor for my 8421 crane. The one in the box had a defective gear and they sent two to replace it! (Nice tires too; I might have to buy that set!)

We've changed "LEGO Space & Mecha" to "LEGO Sci-Fi". So what does this mean? Well most importantly, it doesn't mean that anything will be removed from the forum; everything that used to be in the "LEGO Space & Mecha" will fit in just fine in "LEGO Sci-Fi". But now we'll have a home for many of the genres that we're shoved in "Other Themes" such as SteamPunk... but I'm getting ahead of myself. To me the old forum title was too limiting and confusing; Space and Mecha? Where does a hovering tank belong? It's not space, nor is it Mecha. Same story for stuff like Mars bases. While the old title covered the available themes well, it didn't cover the genre well. Due to that I regularly received questions about where, for example, futuristic cities should go. "So what is Sci-Fi", I hear you ask. Good question, but a good answer is harder. Firstly, Sci-Fi is not the future, nor is it space. I can be... but for example putting a romance story in a futuristic setting does not necessarily make it Sci-Fi. Wikipedia has a good rant about what others think, but since this is my rant I'll tell you that I see Sci-Fi as being about exploring the possibilities of science and technology. So what belongs in here? This isn't a rigid list, but for starters; All LEGO space themes, including Space Police Mecha (Exo-force or not) Steampunk (Past, Present and Future) Post Apocalyptic Zombie MOCs (and some sets) based around real spacecraft Any movie, game or TV show that isn't an official license but is generally promoted as Sci-Fi The last one important one. I personally don't see a lot of TV "Sci-Fi" (or SyFy ) as real Sci-Fi... but many do. In the spirit of free thinking and not impressing my opinions on others, all things that are generally seen as Sci-Fi (such as Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Babylon 5) are welcome here. But there always well be some genres and MOCs that could be classed as both. For example... This is based on Cafe Corner... but really seems more Sci-Fi. This is a futuristic building... also based on Cafe Corner. Is it Sci-Fi? Arguably not, but since it includes Space themed minfigs it probably is. How about this? Aside from the people on the roof having life-defining moments, it looks non Sci-Fi to me... ...oh it transforms! That seems more Sci-Fi now! It's a similar story with Zombie MOCs; but I think in most cases they'll fit in best here. (I haven't seen many fantasy zombie MOCs actually...) Remember that this name change is about including more into this forum, not excluding. So now you know what the "Sci-Fi" forum is about, what isn't it about?
