  1. I'm not sure what the problem is/was; I (as TheWalrus who currently is a Count ) could add the link... and several more. There were some odd bbcode mis-matches in there (such as a bold that went nowhere and an italic that was used too early) which could have caused the problem. In any case I've added the link to your sig and I'll PM you the old version in case I've done something wrong.
  2. Happy Birthday to you all, especially Jordan and Ricecracker.
  3. You've made one of my favourite models even better! I'll be shamelessly stealing the heightened body, and probably taking ideas from much of the rest too. No new guidelines, we're just enforcing them more now that there's a better solution. Even so, Counts have no set link restrictions...
  4. Yes, this is actually a priorty job too; I have a secondary usage for integrated search... You need to do a search more than every ten seconds? I'm only half finished too!
  5. @SpiderSpaceman No, the "Sin" was saluting someone with my left hand 15 years ago... Hardly relevant to my life today!

  6. Hello! It's nice seeing you around! Sort-of. We needed to re-build every skin with the last upgrade, and they work very differently so straight copies were not possible. Thus the banners and borders are the same in a few forums, like Sci-Fi (Space) but the colours are not. I hope you don't mind what we did...
  7. I agree. Yeah, it's quite stunning what you can fit in portable devices today! I'm trying to be a good boy! Just keep the Apple fanboyism to a minimum and it'll live. The iPad is a nice device for many people. I'm more interested in buying a Windows 7 tablet at the moment; I'm not personally sold on the super-sized-phone concept.
  8. Please, let's not turn this into a platform debate! The original poster said; ..so please keep that in mind! (I'm changing the topic title to reflect.) I personally would love a tablet computer for this kind of task. I have a netbook and a smart phone that I do use for this task from time to time, but I think the tablet form factor could do the job better. Probably the ultimate solution would be a flexible colour e-ink display.
  9. Well I missed this and while it's active again I've gotta say "why?" Even so they look good! Are you going to make heads too?
  10. To me that's a separate issue that was solved by parts like... Technic should never have been used like that in the first place. I think Anio has the real answer.
  11. Thanks! I've fixed them now. I was doing a lot of cut-and-paste while making this and it shows!

  12. We have a lot more guests than we used to (and much more than most other LEGO sites), and when we let the search engines in our traffic spiked as well. It comes down to it that without banning guests from searching the site will slow down or even crash in daily peak periods. bzpower.com has comparable traffic to us and they have banned guest searching as well. It's standard policy on many forums, including my own and, for example, Classic-Castle.com and Classic-Space.com. To my recollection EB has always been that way. A forum that doesn't do this becomes a bigger spammer target as they don't even need to post; all they do is edit their signature and they get free advertising! Indeed. Soon after you left the issue of increased traffic became a problem. But I was more referring to the fact that reducing/preventing guests from searching and hiding member pages is common practice. Sorry for not explaining myself better in the earlier post; I made it on my phone while in bed! I am sorry that you find the board annoying to browse. If you want to be anonymous without logging in I do have some ideas of how you could do this. I do like seeing you around, but it is understandable wanting to do this as ex-Staff. I could look into re-enabling the Guest searching and tackle the load issue with a high search flood setting (at least 2 minutes), but I'm not sure if that will treat all guests as one "member" or track it via IPs. If it's the latter it might help and probably wouldn't affect our server too much.
  13. Well, sorry to say that is the answer in regard to search. Banning search for guests reduces our server load by a large degree. As for hiding member profiles, that's an anti-spammer measure. But you know about all of this so I don't understand why you are asking.
  14. Beautiful! Guaranteed to look stylish until 2020!
  15. Look what I just found in my garden!
  16. More details and advice on this here.
  17. This new board has some nice features, and one of my favourites is the new profile page. It gives everyone a page that summarises their EB content, and by using the About Me feature they can add to it as much as they want. For some time I've seen the need for this ability and I've even considered trialling a sub-forum where everyone has a page as a temporary solution. But now that Eurobricks has it as a board feature we'd like you to use it, as it has the potential to resolve the issue that bothers many members on both side of the debate; signatures. As an example, I just spent the afternoon summarising my time on EB over the last two years; take a look! Now I can show off the work I've done and not feel guilty about it! We'd like all members to do something similar in future rather than fill their signatures with past work that most people will ignore anyway. Remember after all that the signature rule is... ...and by using the About Me page it will be much easier to follow these rules. Additionally, things like "wish lists", long lists and multiple links will no longer be acceptable in signatures; the About Me page is a much more appropriate place. On a positive note, as a trial we'll try be extremely flexible with what you do post on your About Me page; loads of links, lots of pictures, quotes, lists, items for sale... you name it! You can then post in your signature when you do updates to it and everyone will be happy. Just remember to keep your page as on-topic as possible; please don't make it into a shrine to Mötley Crüe or similar. So in summary; About Me is cool. Try to keep you signatures small, the rest goes to the About Me page. Wish lists are to be moved to your About Me page. Feel free to use your signature to advertise sales in your About Me page. Questions?
  18. We can enable HTML on the board but it's a security nightmare... :sing: :sing:
  19. Exactly. Also, planning this would just encourage stupidity giving us more work and possibly even resulting in several bans. As things happen I'm sure there's been a few times this has almost happened anyway; often I've been busy for a few days and I come back to find others have been too! Normally though someone turns up and puts in extra time to clean things up. Run the poll all you want, but I give this a zero chance of it actually happening. True the world won't come to an end, but I just don't see the point in it. I'm cool with not being appreciated. Which, as a moderator, I should tell you that you're abusing a power given to you as being part of the Reviewers Academy.
  20. You've bumped a topic that's been dead for almost a year to say that? Please don't in future.
  21. Sort of. The rule for some time (about a year I think) has been 4 images, the link one was added in when we went to the new board. As it turns out the set limitation is actually the images; we allow Knights to bend the rules up to 6; links are set to 8. My advice is the same as Fugazi; put your recent work in the signature and mention in there that there are more shown on your "About Me" page. To me the "About Me" page is one of the best features of this board, and when I get around to it I'll be posting all my links there too. It enables people to show off their work and interests without slowing down the board. As a side note, no your signature wasn't huge, but many images slow down page loading in the same way that big images do. None set by us. If there are any severe ones please tell me and I'll see if they can be removed. Yes it is, and sorry if I did it in a rude way. In my defense I did pick a small font... If I did it via PM I would have needed to put a note in the admin logs; this way you have nothing on your permanent record. It's good.
  22. Looks even better now! It's interesting how a lot of it's built; not how I expected for the most part. I wonder if the bridges are counter balanced and can stop in any place... People should be able to remember that now.
  23. Yeah... I have expanded the auto-rules to cover Counts and Dukes.
  24. You answered your own question! apple_old.jpg That was the Apple even I loved... but colourful just isn't stylish enough for them now. ...but yeah, I'll make a quick entry this weekend, valid or not.
