  1. Is that a joke? If it is, sorry, but if it isn't then yes, I'm sure.
  2. This feature sounds good, but it's largely useless unless you want to reduce signatures to 50 characters. Afterall, a link to a small image can be the same size as a link to a large one. As an FYI, it doesn't affect existing signatures. Many things but the part we keep having trouble finding a good solution to is finding a clear rule that is easily understandable and not easily abused. For example a maximum file size would be beyond some members technical knowledge. Many countries (including Australia) phased out low cent coins a while back. But let's discuss world currencies another time. Actually yours is only slightly taller than mine and I think it's still small.
  3. Well I'll give the Apple fans the last word and I'll try to stay out of this topic in the future. (I'll come on invitation only. )
  4. I do agree on a reduction. While I think 50 pixels is too little, I also think 300 is too much. Personally I find that 120 pixels in height is a good size, and that's what I've been using for years. I was the one who wrote that rule and it was meant as a reminder of what is way too much... but I suspect some see it as a target! However, the problem often is enforcement and priorities. For example I find the avatar issue a more pressing one, and I'm failing at that too. With 8953 members it's a lot of effort to deal with every oversized signature so we tend to PM members who go too far, but it's a fine line between trying to please members who want small signatures, and those that want the freedom to post as big as they darn well want to. For the record we are actually considering changing the rules as there are more and more cases of large and often pointless signatures. I do appreciate you sharing your concerns. It's good when members do this as often we're accused of enforcing rules that no one cares about, when I know for a fact that many do. 15.
  5. Picky picky picky...
  6. It seems unnecessary to me, to be honest I was unsure whether to post this in the first place. Besides, pinned topics tend to be ignored more often than not. Thus we use pinning when we want to make something easier to find rather than when we want to highlight something.
  7. It's time to pick a winner and decide who wins the Ice Cube tray! Cast your vote!
  8. Hopefully next time. The poll is up!
  9. It's time to decide who's the greatest whacker! (I was whacked the most. ) Full entries are here, but to assist voting I've added a picture for each entry. Do note though that some can't be appreciated fully from a single image, especially those with a detailed story. The poll is set up so you can vote for two entires; but feel free to vote for the same one twice! Whacker: Admiral Croissant Whackee(s): Cutlass Iz, Shadows, Erdbeereis, SlyOwl, Bonaparte, Imperial Scouts, Lt. Col. Thok and Tom Bricks (as cavalry officer). 10. No time wasted! I was just concerned that you'd die while telling us you could be in danger.
  11. I never liked XP, but I loved Vista. I'm currently running "7". Well you're the Mac user so you'd know better, but OS 9 was over 10 years ago... I'm just saying that it's cheating. Saying that Windows compatibility is a reason to switch to a Mac? Why switch at all then? Besides, it's a proven fact that Mac OS can run on most PCs it's just that Apple have turned it into a copyright issue. It's be really funny if Microsoft did the same. Sure it is. I haven't paid for any software for a long time and most specialised programs I write myself. Also, my computer was capable of running three monitors at once (none mirrored) as standard. Can a Mac do that? Hate is a strong word. I think they are overrated and it's tiresome that Apple get credit for others work over and over again; for example Mac OS X is little more than a GUI, all the hard stuff is handled by Mach and FreeBSD. But I don't see how I'm stretching it at all, and no I don't hate Macs. I do dislike Steve Job's style however and I wish they'd stop exaggerating in adverts. Ouch! Remove thy barbs!
  12. Exactly. It's cheating. Saying that Apple can run any software they want by also installing Windows is like saying "I'm stronger than you... if I'm using a crane." It's not a core ability, you need to pay extra for it, so it's not really a feature. Macs are the hardware and the software. If you're going to install a second OS because the first isn't sufficient it makes more sense to me to just format the lot and run Windows all the time.
  13. Considering that you can't separate MacOS from Mac hardware (legally) that's kinda cheating. I'd love to insult Apple over this, but the older models have a slower CPU and half the RAM; it's simply not possible.
  14. Newsflash! Man dies in California as he took the time to post about being in an earthquake on EB instead of moving to safety. This is Siegfried for EB News, your man on the scene, signing out.
  15. I think you've nailed it. Homeworld is a great game with stunning design, and so much variety too.
  16. True. I keep forgetting that I joined before you.
  17. It'd be right at the end of this theme month. We don't have time to plan back-to-back theme months! Can't be done that easily; the banner is actually two pictures that overlap. I wouldn't come out then; we wont be retuning to the same skin as last time. Sorry... Actually we had theme months for both! Yes we did, but that was a lot of work. ...as are you.
  18. Well since my swinging achieved little aside from a much needed workout, I think this could be the way to go. I'll need to try this out with some LEGO which I have on me. Interestingly the parts I have look much the same as those stones; just smaller.
  19. I think no one person. Regardless of all the SNOT talk that goes on, TLG have been building things sideways and upside down from the start; afterall they designed pieces to work that way. I'm often surprised when I look at old sets and see a "new" technique being used. I think the only reason why a set built this way hasn't been sold is for play-strength reasons. On a similar note, I think I was the first to use the hovercraft pieces to make a tugboat, but I doubt I was the first to think about it. That's hardly classic!
  20. Yes, Palms is correct. I suggest reading our ranks topic; all is explained there.
  21. Very nice! The sterns are quite magnificent! Yeah, LEGO models aren't cheap!
  22. Errr... sorry? Are you asking if you can win without an entry?
  23. ** Poof! ** Your wish has come true! It'll be up until June.
