Battle For The Golden Mask Competition: Discussion Thread
VBBN replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
1) I wouldn't do an army of characters as a villain, I would do one and you could say it is an army trooper if you wish. We want one villain per entry (a steed would be considered an accessory, so that's different) 2) Yes, however your story wIll not affect judgment of the creation. 3) Yes you may enter multiple entries. 4) as long as it doesn't change the look of the MOC I don't see why not. (Just remember your photos should be the best quality you can manage, don't make it hard to see what's going on) -

To add an extra point to this, please make sure your photo that you attach to your entry post adhere's to Eurobricks' standard image size of 800x600, 640x480 or smaller (But not too small, we want to see what you've built!) I will do a few additions to the entry thread to highlight these points. -

This has not yet been revealed. A couple questions have been asked on another site, I will relay the responses; -no cutting flex/ribbed tubes (this is considered modifying Lego parts) -no homeade cloth as capes/wings/etc. Only use official Lego cloth -

I decided to take a break from my overly-part consuming gigantic MOCs and go on a smaller scale. This is Seraph Squad, a team of Heroes who defected from Hero Factory. They aren't necessarily villains, but some of them aren't pure heroes either. There are a few things I want everyone to keep in mind here; -These are "feasibly" designed, meaning I wanted to keep the designs simple, something that could actually be produced as a set. -They don't all look 'evil.' Read their bios, they were part of Hero Factory and left. They didn't get infected or overcome by shadow or something. Dragontooth The leader of Seraph Squad. Dragontooth commonly uses trickery and deceit to overtake his enemies. He quickly became disgusted with Hero Factory's mindset to protect the entire galaxy. He believe they should only protect their planet, and that other races can fend for themselves. He wields a blade forged from the tooth of a dragon that attacked and killed most of his former teammates. Banshee Banshee was once one of the top performing aerial Heroes. After her arm was badly damaged in battle, the Hero Factory engineers wanted to melt her down and use her parts to build new Heroes. She abandoned Hero Factory, but her damaged arm brings an unrelenting pain. She wields two axes that can be mounted on her back to steady herself in flight. Spectre Originally, Spectre was a Factory drone tasked with protecting the Hero Factory machines. It accidentally got caught in the core implant machine, and it forced a Hero core onto it's chest. The core gave it sentience, and it liked it. The drone is not as capable as a Hero, so the Factory officials wanted to remove the core from the drone, deeming it as a waste. Spectre didn't want to lose it's new sense of life, so it defected from the factory. Now it likes to call itself a him. Spectre's tools are the standard issue drone rifle and riot shield. Wildcat Wildcat was an engineer for Hero Factory. He is crazed with building weapons, however the Factory felt that his weapons were too lethal to be used. He quickly left the factory and went on to crafting his own weapons. He has a wide array of tools, but his preferred ones are a seismic cannon, an electric whip, and his shoulder mounted, heat-seeking acid launcher. Glacier Glacier was one of the first attempts at merging elemental energy with a Hero core. As a result, Glacier channels all of his ice power through his core. He can craft weapons from ice, fire ice from his hands, and even regenerate his arms when they are destroyed due to this power. The Factory engineers felt that these experiments could be potentially catastrophic. Glacier defected from the factory, knowing that they thought he could be dangerous and would try to destroy him. His tools are crafted from ice, but his main tools are a shield and dual sides spear. Landquake Landquake was a mine worker for Hero Factory, who dug deep underground looking for materials needed to create new Heroes. However, Landquake is an explorer. He wishes to travel to other planets, digging new terrain and materials. His superiors at the Hero Factory denied his request, saying that he was the most efficient miner and that he needs to remain where he is. He stormed away from the Factory to travel the galaxy, just after he brought down an entire tower with one swing of his shovel. His tools include a magma sphere launcher, used for melting, crafting, and combat, as well as his pneumatic jackshovel, which digs as well as pulverizes rock. His launcher can be mounted atop his drone counterpart that he carries on his back. These are of course nothing spectacular, but they were fun to build and I may work on a fanfic for them, I quite enjoyed doing some of these bios (especially Spectre).

Favorite Bionicle Music! (Or least favorite)
VBBN replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Action Figures
As usual, mine is more on the obscure side It's more nostalgia than anything, but the music from this game was awesome. -
Generally I like to match eye colors to external trans pieces on a character. Even if trans dark green or trans dark blue don't light up as perfectly as trans fluor. green or orange, I would rather match the colors with external trans colors. Of course, that's focused on the MOCing perspective of things. As far as sets are concerned, unless the eyes are on the outside of the head (Barraki, Visorak, Bohrok, etc) it really doesn't matter a whole lot to me. I don't know if the color is necessarily the issue with eye colors- Transformers uses light piping of a large range of colors and it usually works quite well.

I'm actually quite looking forward to getting some of these, not just for gear purposes. They offer some interesting connection points, angles and levels.

Are there any lime Bionicle joints from after the fiasco?
VBBN replied to Toa of Gallifrey's topic in LEGO Action Figures
There is still a chance they will break, however the CCBS ball design causes less of a shock to sockets, so it's not as destructive as older balljoints. They will still eventually break, but I find it increases the lifespan somewhat. -
Details for it as well as the Hero Factory tag can be found here.

Are there any lime Bionicle joints from after the fiasco?
VBBN replied to Toa of Gallifrey's topic in LEGO Action Figures
It's kind of a hit or miss if you are trying to order them from BL, there's no telling which one you are getting unless you are actually buying Keelerak or the Nui-Rama, or the buyer specifically states what it's from These are the current lime joints I have- Ones on the left are still in perfect condition, ones in the middle are strong but slightly cracked, and ones on the right I only use with CCBS, as I fear putting them on older style balljoints will decimate them. The ones on the left and middle are mixed from Keelerak and 2007 sets. I believe the ones with a very slight lighter difference in tone are Keelerak's, but really most BL sellers will just throw them on there as lime y-joints and have no idea which variant it is. If it's Keelerak/Nui Rama style it should do pretty well, but ones from 2007 are a time bomb. (Boy this is sad seeing how little joints I have... I really could do with some Lime-recolored CCBS Y-joints..) -
I do hope they are handing out the clear Hau's at NYCC over the weekend, my friend in New York is going Sunday (and dragging his friend who doesn't care about Bionicle along) to try to get two of them, of course the second one for moi. I would assume Lego is capping the daily distribution of them, but I'm not holding out hope. DeeVee that's like a bag of diamonds is what that is.

Was messing around with the minifigures today, took a few interesting shots Since I have so many heroes I swapped the eye colors around to make things more visually interesting. Also as I said in my reviews earlier in the year, I really loved the look of a red jumper with blue shell so I made such an amend.
-
Am I the only one who thinks a clear Hau is a rather strange exclusive? Don't get me wrong, I want it, but i'm not so sure it's because I have an interest in it, or because it's exclusive. It would look very odd on a character, I think those chrome gold masks would be far more interesting as exclusives. Yes, they did (Basically defunks any thoughts that the chrome masks are the gold ones.) Oh man, imagine if they did those chrome gold masks like the Mr. Gold minifigure, randomly in some Toa sets...
