I got a Wolverine vibe from him, a very cool MOD you've done here. I agree that the gunmetal chest plate is the one drawback to limiting yourself on parts- The golden shoulder pads end up looking slightly strange, the way you placed them makes it look like they would be apart of the chest armor, but given that they are different colors throws it off somewhat. With that said, it could also cause him to have too much gold. Color scheme aside, the change to symmetrical arms is better than I thought it would look, makes him look more muscular.

While I'm sure a lot of people really want to see another "creature" based wave like the Bohrok or Rahkshi to really home in on the reboot idea here, I would really like a more sentient enemy like Piraka, Barraki, Shadow Toa, etc. Perhaps i'm just a bit stale after having so many creature based enemies in Hero Factory (whilst some of the actual sentient enemies were quite goofy)

Removed the links, do try to refrain from continuing to link to leaked photos. I'd prefer to stick to the moral of, the photos shouldn't have been leaked in the first place and Lego would have rather they never been leaked- Quite frankly if he expected negative repercussions then he shouldn't have taken and leaked photos.

A brief announcement; I've had to clean up some extremely off-topic posts in this thread. I know there are quite a few of you who are new to Eurobricks and have joined in the last few weeks since this rumors thread took off, but I suggest everyone once again re-read the site guidelines. I'm noticing a lot of people have had issues with keeping themselves on-topic. If you want to talk about building techniques for your own MOCs, make a new thread. If you want to show off a MOC and get feedback on it, make a new thread. Just because a lot of people are viewing and commenting on this topic everyday, doesn't mean it's the only place to talk about constraction. And under no circumstances is off-topic memes or attempts at "trolling" people allowed on Eurobricks. This is not 4chan. All posts relating to that have been removed from the topic. Thank you

Just to throw my two cents in on this, the issue with a prequel is that not only is it more limited in scope, but you also know the end result- You know the Toa Mata would live on to be the Nuva and whatnot. Take the 2004/2005 storyline for example. Not once did I feel the Toa were actually in danger of dying, because we all know that they become the Turaga. Vakama clearly was not going to stay on 'the dark side.' Granted they did a decent job with giving them some storyline in the books, but I found what happened from 2001-2003 and 2006 onwards to me more interesting because there was mystery, suspense, etc. When I reached the end of the first book in 2006, I couldn't wait for the next to come out. I never felt that same way with 04/05, but that's just my personal preference.

Yes those are fine, I just used Brickshelf and Flickr as examples. And yes that is perfectly fine to show a video like that with your creations if you want to. (And to answer your previous question, there is eventually am embedding limit, but like photos, just remember to keep things at a reasonable amount to save space and so people with slower internet/computers won't have to wait ages to see something.
-
1) Yes you can create such a topic, if you don't think your MOCs are decent quality then the only way you can improve is to show them and receive comments and criticism. There is a certain image limit that the board will set but you can link to a flickr set or brickshelf folder if you run out of space and want to link to more pictures. 2) If it's an action figure build, it goes in this forum. You could post it in either, but generally we have all action figure builds, even ones that are licensed like Superheroes ultrabuilds or other Lego themes such as the Chima ultrabuilds. 3) Why would you need to share videos?
-
The way I see it is, Lego runs it for 2-4 years and see how it goes. If things start to go south, they kick in with a new theme, and maybe after a few years of that they go back to Bionicle, and repeat the process. Aqua raiders, Agents, Space police, a variety of system themes have at one point or another returned to a theme to cater to a new audience/give fans of the previous line something new from it. Not even just for entire themes, but sublines within themes can return, how many times has City revisited police, fire, or construction? Just because Bionicle had such a long run and is part of constraction, doesn't mean some of that mindset could be applied here.

It's only been a day, give it time. Properly resizing your photos and directly posting them via IMG tags in your first post instead of linking to them goes a long way to attract more attention to your MOCs. Your current pictures are large and people have to follow them through a link instead of immediately being able to see them. You have over 150 views on the topic but only around 50 on the brickshelf folders, and about 10 per photo. People are a lot less likely to view your work when they have to go off site. For the most part I like the look of the wings/jetpack on Gramlin, although it's very difficult to tell what's what on anything here with the picture quality. Everything seems to be very simply built without much thought given to color placement, or parts placement for that matter.. The best suggestion I can give is to take one character and focus on giving it defined shape and personality.
-
"Unique features" is completely up to the eyes of the beholder, I think his wings are annoying and I'd much rather they have simply been pose-able, and I felt the same about a lot of the gimmicks we saw with BA- but that's a different discussion. As far as I can see, there aren't any gimmicks, but I was making a general point about Toa- as I'm assuming CCBS and the size/pricepoints of sets will continue to stay past this one wave. Axonn is far bulkier and more filled out than any canister set in 2006, not just more complex. With Axonn I feel they designed the set with the design in min first, whereas with Fluminox it feels more like they said "we need to make one of these figures into a pricier set" and improvised.

Well that wasn't my point, I mean in the case of a standard hero compared to an XL set. Making all of the characters one pricepoint and just altering their height isn't the same thing as ramping a Toa's pricetag up with a slew of possibly uneeded parts. If they want to make one hero bigger than the rest, say a beefy Onua with big long arms, cool, I'll gladly buy it. But if they just pull a CHI Fluminox and put a Toa on a Rack (making them unnecessarily tall) and wasting parts on overdoing a weapon or some gimmick that doesn't add a whole lot to the figure, that I'm not okay with.

Different size classes for Toa is going to be a very interesting thing. With the old-Bionicle it was accepted that Toa were usually always a standard canister set. $9-$12 depending on the year, but they all had a consistent size in their own respective years. When you look at a Toa Inika compared to a Toa Mata, they almost seem like titans within themselves. To me, having vastly different sizes of Toa might be a bit strange to grasp a hold of. Yes, teams can come in different shapes and sizes, but even with the different a varied builds we saw in 2007-2009, they all still remained roughly the same size. With Hero Factory, XL sets were much larger than their other counterparts, and a lot of the time for no reason at all (Furno...) I always felt that a team of Toa should look like a team. When you look at a Toa, something should say "they came from that team." From what I've seen in the photos so far, there's not a lot to make them feel as though they are a cohesive bunch, especially if some Toa are larger an have special golden armor and feel like they don't belong in the same class as the other Toa. There's a difference between making a Toa bulkier or more muscular, and making a Toa big for no reason. I'm just glad they didn't stick to the HF approach and make some Toa the smallest sets. I like to hold off judgement until better photos (hence my silence on the speculation so far, I don't really have anything valuable to input) but there are a lot of things I'm curious to see how they pull off.

Pohatu's flipped torso made him quite lean at the shoulders, I don't think making him tremendously bulky would have made much sense. While it wouldn't make a difference to me if Onua was thin or bulky, I think of all the Toa it fits him best, but it's personal preference. I suppose if you exclusively view these as updates or reincarnations of the Mata then yes it's a bit odd, but I think they draw elements from both the Mata and the Nuva, in which Onua looked, as Kingslayer said, stockier and bulkier. Plus I'd just like some variety to the Toa's builds, so theres' that.

And I don't get why it continues to be a topic of discussion in this thread- I've stated before to keep BZP discussion/flaming/whatever else out of this topic, let's everyone keep it that way. I won't say it again. Annyway, most likely I'll get the whole round at once. It'll be interesting to see if they release the sets similar to how they did before, where the "defenders" get released before the rest of the sets. I recall in my area Matoran sets would always get released before canister and boxed sets, helped ease the wallets a bit in my opinion. Though with how Lego has been releasing both small and larger sets at the same time lately, they may choose to just do it all at once.

Small spider enemies again? Really? The second wave better have some awesome villains or I'll be extremely disappointed in this big new debut wave, at least as far as enemies are concerned Still reserving judgement until clear photos, but I like the look of the recolors I can make out so far.

It's not necessarily just about getting exposure- everyone can browse through and look at MOCs when they want, but if you really want to get feedback and have a more consistent following, you have to communicate more with other people on Flickr. Faving isn't enough, if you comment on things and get in contact with others, they will have more of an interest in commenting on your work. Just trying to jump from having no views to having a few thousand views and double digit+ comments doesn't happen in a day, it starts with a smaller consistent base of people that eventually grows outward. Of course it would help if Flickr would stop making it's site worse with every update and making it harder to keep up your following's photos, but that's a rant for another day.

No, but I am. This topic comes up year after year, and it always ends in the same way- people disagree, people argue, it derails any thread it goes in, and then people start getting called sexist and it becomes a blockstorm of nonsense. Discussing gender ratios and how you'd like to see them changed are a completely relevant topic to discuss in this thread. They are things you would like to see in 2015 and can be part of a civil conversation- Something I am not seeing here. There's a difference in how topics like this are discussed. Talking about how lego markets lines toward a certain gender or how it affects the story are one thing. Attacking other members, calling them "SJW," or bringing this to a personal level isn't for the forums, take it to messaging if you want to sort out these matters with someone. This goes for everyone.

Lots of awesome stuff going on here, the shaping is spot on and you really did a great job transforming elements. The chest armor as thigh panels is my favorite part, the way you filled it out works extremely well.
-
With all 6 toa present, I doubt we'd see all 6 villains, so most likely the "defenders" are Matoran sized sets. Which means we'd be going back to the pre-2008 formula (Which honestly I preferred, but I know others didn't) Which does bring up an interesting point. In HF we saw heroes and villains mixed as both big and small sets- I'm not sure how I'd feel if we saw that return with Bionicle.

Perhaps I'm seeing this as a different definition, but to my definition a waist is generally right about the things, and it's only purpose would be to rotate the legs and give a point of pivot below the abs. Wait i'm implying is i'd want to see the joint underneath where the shoulder blades would be, to allow the chest and shoulders to move. For example, with many iron man figures, the larger upper half of arms moves independently of all of the lower half of abs below it. In other words I'm comparing a hip swivel to a chest swivel. If my definition of a waist swivel (which I would categorize closer to a hip swivel and less like an ab or chest swivel) is incorrect then yes I agree. I really don't know what to call..whatever pridak had just due to his very different body design. In theory the sets should have both, but of course that would be extremely difficult to armor. (It's almost as if they'd have to try something new )

I've never really found a purpose to waist articulation, if anything, articulation under the torso or an ab pivot would be far more practical and lead to a lot more posing possibilities.

Thanks everyone! To respond to a few points a lot have brought up, firstly the tires- Yes, I hate them too. This is a similar case the the second version of kronos- Tires were placeholders for what would be changed to parts at a later date and that is the same case here. I'm essentially out of gold and black shells, so for now the tires are just temporary tops to her boots. As I get more parts, those will be changed (I want to slim her shins down a bit, but right now it's a mess under those tires) The elbows being thin is the same case, I'm simply out of parts but wanted to get the first iteration of her out there. (Otherwise it'll be months until I actually get around to modifying her more) You can like expect to see some modifications nearer to christmas. That's difficult to say. I estimate Kronos is near 700-800 when you consider the amount of technic components within him, and this figure is slightly less complicated/bulky so probably close or a bit less than that. I am pleasantly surprised how well she ended up standing when all was said and done, considering her sort of heel-like design to her boots and the fact that she has much smaller feet than Kronos does. (In fact she stands a lot better than kronos, but his body is really quite massive)

"Good, Evil, forces that fight eachother to no end. Light and Shadow fight for dominance. I cleanse the mess. I bring balance to these childish quarrels, and expel those who have lost the privilege to live. I am Pallas. I am the bounty hunter.' For those who remember Kronos it will come as no surprise that I have once again ventured into the large scale realm. This is the second part of my , a 7 part MOC series. The 7 models will all be created for separate elements, so that at the end all 7 can stand next to eachother (and yes make appearances at Brickfair is the plan)Today I finally present not a 4th remake of Kronos, but Pallas, a bounty hunter. Obviously this is not how Pallas was in mythology, but once I started building it just turned into this. Also I know I originally teased Halcyon to make a reveal in September... yeah that's not going to happen, I'm completely out of white parts and this character ended up being born instead as the character for 2014. Right now he's just a head. Anyway, here she is. Views with Weapons attached: Views without skirt; (yeah I kinda started to run out of parts and had to make some sacrifices...once I have more gold, problems will be amended) Head: Amulet: And a photo some of you might be hoping to see; You can view the full photo set on my Flickr here As with Kronos, who know where Pallas will go from here. His evolution was a drastic change across the time I spent modifying him, and to this day I have changed planned for him. Pallas will likely follow a similar path. As always, please do leave your feedback, all feedback is taken into consideration so that I continue to modify and improve upon these designs. VBBN
