  1. At first I didn't think this was going to be all that big, but that torso really filled out. However there's a couple things you need to watch out for here, -Your colors in the torso are very scattered and don't have anything to bring them together. I can tell you tried for some stylized positioning of the shells, but this is completely lost when there are so many colors of shells. -Those limbs are going to need a lot of bulk to blend properly into that torso. However some of those construction techniques are going to make that quite a chore to do; For example, the space right where the "rocka head-shoulderpads" are on his front arms does not offer many easy ways to add bulk. Also I'm not crazy about the back legs in general; The use of those feet pieces seems far less stylized than the front, and I think something custom might compliment it more. With that said I do like the non-bipedal design, and the swords coming off of his arms is a nice touch. I'm interested in seeing what head design you come up with for this.
  2. Most likely, yes. Last years Chima sets are still in full force in stores around here, and I'm guessing it runs about the same in Europe. Most likely because there is nothing to replace them; IFB has almost totally washed out what was left of brain Attack, so it's safe to say that this current wave of Chima will be replaced by 2014 when it comes out, and then that will stay in stores for quite a long period of time.
  3. Chrome Hau Usually goes for $5-20 depending on it's condition. Provided there are no scratches on it, the turnaround for it isn't too bad.
  4. Interesting, similar to how the limbs could be added on to create that "abomination." I am curious as to what Lego will be doing with the summer wave, if we will see more combo models or not. Lego seemed to stress the winter wave of IFB more than some of the previous combo models, so I certainly wouldn't be surprised. I just hope that if they do a combo of all of the walkers and the crawler machine that it has more thought put into it than the XL combo from the first wave.
  5. As far as I know international shipping will be anything that comes up in the search parameters for international shipping on Amazon Global. This link should take you to the site with the international shipping filter already on the search tab. Though I haven't commonly seen lego sets on there, usually it's lego movies, books, etc, but I don't browse it often enough to be certain on that.
  6. I was okay with the sword parts that Laval had, but the parts that Cragger uses just don't appeal to me, nor do the blades that make up Eris's axe. I can certainly see how they may be more versitile than these newer parts, but for my style of building I find the more detailed parts to be pleasing. Though color is another matter, I would prefer these to not be only in silver.
  7. The ideas that spring to me are namely some sort of bladed longbow or perhaps wings. Maybe an axe head or something, either way I like these a bit better than those translucent weapons we had gotten in the first wave.
  8. Revenue outweighing distribution and the PPF is a major player, as well as other influences; Some countries create a partnership to sell those products exclusively in their country, just like some toy stores have exclusive rights to some product lines or products. In Hasbro's case, various partnerships, as well as independent manufacturers play a role- For example, in the 80s and 90s there were some exclusive figures released in Greece, but that was because Greece had their own production companies for the line, just like takara- But just like you will commonly find Takara and hasbro's labels together, those figures had the name Hasbro on them, not La Greca. As for crap toys with crap gimmicks, different regions have different regulations as to what can and cannot be released. Many sets don't get released in a certain region because of laws against the violent nature or the type of spring-powered missile or something they include. The list could go on for days, but the point here is, (and not to separate this from the discussion of the Chima sets any further than it already) there is always a reason. You can go on TFW and see a slew of people complaining because a slight color variant isn't coming to their country and saying that a company is stupid (hey I do it too...) But no one actually cares to figure out why they aren't being released because it could be hundreds of factors. Which brings about the possible reasons why Chima would not be a US release (Though any speculation that is based off of foreign Amazon marketplaces putting the figures up isn't very concrete- Amazon France and UK put up early preorders and unannounced figures far more than the US Amazon does.) The fact that they haven't appeared on US is no indication they are a Euro-only release, thought with IFB being released outside of the US earlier, it's not impossible. However from what I heard from Lego, the choice to delay IFB in the US was not taken lightly and wasn't their ideal situation, so I do not believe that is related to the confusion with the Chima sets.
  9. Well I wouldn't be too unused to the idea of an out-of-region only release, though an increase in cost is likely going to be more than I was already wanting to spend on these figures; And some bricklink sellers charge insane amounts for international shipping.. Do keep in mind, at least in Hasbro's sake, that Hasbro is not the sole producer of it's products. For example with transformers, Takara-Tomy (who originally began the line with Diaclone) is based in japan, and their figures are marketed exclusively for Japan. Those "other region" releases are because it's a completely different company based in a different region marketing them. I'm not familiar with many Mattel lines so I can't comment on them. "No reason whatsoever" is actually very sound and thought out reasoning. Companies do pay attention to their annual reports, otherwise they wouldn't exactly be successful.
  10. Here's hoping they do release, those bones are an absolute necessity at the moment And those CGI really do the sets themselves a lot more justice than Toy fair did, well except for the mammoth..
  11. The two I'm not familiar with are the one next to and the one next to
  12. Yeah that throws it off, especially being white, though of course you're limited on parts with it being a combination. Actually I quite like that, it looks like a plume of smoke after a shell was "fired" out of his cannon-nose
  13. I like this quite a bit, the head definitely looks like a cartoonized version of a tank's upper half, and he has those sort of AT-ST/AT-RT style legs Are those supposed to be his teeth way down there or are those just decorative?
  14. Well with all respect, regardless if it was a vague answer or not, when someone told the employee "the line was cancelled" that's vague but doesn't mean it was being confused as to if it actually happened or not. I think that's where people are misjudging it as a rumor; if the rep was told "oh the like is having complications" that is a vague answer that doesn't dictate whether or not a decision was made. For the rep to even be told that the line was cancelled- well, Lego is quite serious about what they do, naturally, and someone from a higher status doesn't just "screw up" by saying a line that was majorly publicly announced has been cancelled. Or at least, I would hope so. But arguing about this is not going to solve anything, people can cut eachothers necks once an official statement has been made. Until then, everyone's opinion is just that. Erland we do need to know where that news comes from, as right now there is some major confusion and the fact we haven't recieved an official response from Lego Reps is a bit concerning
  15. That statement does not exactly classify a rumor. The cancellation is/was most likely a topic that was debated, and what that employee relayed is what he believes the decision was; "Not final and may change" is the possibility that the lines may be released at a later time, but at the moment the sets will not be released- The absence of the sets in retailer catalogues means that the sets will at least not be released for third and fourth quarter of this year. And given that the system sets will have moved past that years theme, I wouldn't hold my breath. And as for this, No such thing was ever stated. There is a difference between a vague answer and false information.
  16. That's a bit hard to tell. From my knowledge, a majority of toys shown at toyfair are not yet in full production; A limited number has been made for events, testing, etc. Bionicle always had prototype/painted/temp-cast parts, and even now we see inconsistencies; The cocoons for the summer IFB sets are different shades in Nuremburg vs New York. The parts look pretty finalized, but how much money they spent so far must be small in comparison to how much additional they think they could make by allocating that production money to a different theme(s)- Hence the explanation that they want to focus on other themes. I've seen a lot of people saying it's stupid for them to be cancelling a line that is already made. The amount of money they currently have invested in these sets is likely minuscule compared to the overall cost that the full production would actually cost. And being so far in development may be strange for Lego, but again this is likely not the first time toys have gotten this far in development and been cancelled. McFarlene toys who make the Halo Action figures cancelled universe wave 3, after announcing and advertising the line. I recall there even being images of the future figures on products that were currently out, yet the figures were cut before they were released. (And what a damned shame it was- I really wanted that wave) What puzzles me is the actual monetary concept of this. Lego has done quite a few one-shot sublines to the "flagship" constraction lines, of course including Ben 10 and SuperHeroes. They were a one-year deal and my guess is the high prices due to licencing killed the massive sales they may have wished for; Chima isn't too far out of the standard HF price range, but I want to know what exactly they were expecting if they cancelled this because they saw the after-xmas sales of the first Chima sets and thought "No, better focus on something else" If they expected them to do better than HF then it may have been a long shot, yet I think the issue here may be just that mindset. With every one-shot line, there's no growing or expanding, you can't expect to develop your line and get a fanbase for it if you just cut it because the first round wasn't what you were expecting. I'm not speaking for the majority here, but even from this topic it seems that there is more hype for these figures than the first wave received. The recolors have a part to do with it, but still. Of course lego has their 'experts' on the matter and my opinion spirals more from my rage of the recolors i'm missing out on, but some things like this are quite mysterious.
  17. Thanks guys, 42000 is a possibility now. I do love the look of the set, I'm just apprehensive about a set that is upwards of $160-170 around me- only sale I have seen it for is about 130, again I'm not familiar with other sets costs and still have much research to do, so I didn't have much to consider it's price against. And right now it's the most easily available set that looks like what I want (I am indeed a big fan of Indy cars) And I'll be sure to check those out.
  18. A lot of excellent design techniques you've used here. Making a human-esque figure into a constraction figure whilst keeping the human feeling is really quite astounding. Personally I'm quite a fan of the beard, It's the one component that I would never have thought to use that way. Is the coat made from ship sails? I think it technically should have began here in the first place- Constraction figures for other lines such as Superheroes and Chima belong here as opposed to their respective system threads, normally the same case applies to MOCs as well, though we don't really have much clarity on that

  20. LegoPanda I have resized (to 800x600, a more pleasant and easier to load size) and rotated your photos for you. The second of the three photos was the exact same as your first photo (I think you may have pasted the same URL twice). In the future if you need to resize or rotate photos, the tutorials to do so can be found in my sig. (Index of tutorials) With that said, I do like the color scheme of this matoran. I think the main star of it is your mask, and while I think the overall design of your colorization is nice, I must agree with Godtshep that it seems a bit untidy, was this done with a sharpie marker? (or something similar)
  21. Lately I've been looking to get back into Technic. It's been quite a while since my last set, and I'm going to have to lurk around get reassociated with many of the terms and new parts.I do want to grab a set or two to get the feel for the lineup again, and am not sure what's really going to give me the most. I'm not interested in construction or utility vehicles, or anything along those lines at the moment. my main interest lies in supercars, indy cars, etc. I was looking at the Indy car from last year, however I felt the price was outrageous and the sale prices seemed pretty steep even still, and after doing some research here in the Technic forum it appears that you guys agree. I'm not looking to really MOC just yet as my parts supply is far too low. When I do get into it I plan on pursuing supercars, however that's a story for another day. What I'm looking for here is a set in my criteria that is a good set within itself; Looks good, a lot of nice functions, possibly some cool alternate models, and is within a reasonable price range, somewhere around $50-100.

  24. A new supercar is certainly at the top of my want list. In particular I somewhat hope we see something inspired by the Huracan or LaFerrari While I doubt it'll ever happen, ultimately I'd love to see a Koenigsegg licence obtained. However speculation wise, I somewhat expect a new truck cab, possibly a fire truck and motorbike.
  25. Just posted this on BZP, and I'll post it here as well. New chapters will likely go up there first. Combined with my new signature, hopefully I can bring about a bit of Bionicle spirit. As I stated on BZP; Chapter 1 The smell of ash was carried along by the warm breeze. Large, blackened stalks protruded from the gray ground, and the sky was darkened. This was the Charred Forest, at one time it had been one of the most beautiful parts of Ta-Wahi. After conflict had eventually taken its toll on the forest, all that left was this. A red figure slowly walked, his feet kicking away piles of ash and burnt leaves, and occasionally a piece of armor or weapon from the wars that had raged here before. The figure arrived to one of the black stalks, which were the mangled corpses of burnt tree trunks. He quickly turned around to the sound of footsteps behind him. He slowly began to reach up and felt the handle of one of his swords that were crossed on his back. “Toa Tahu!” The voice came from the direction of the footsteps, and soon a smaller, yellow and red figure came into view. He had on a small pack that was strapped to his back, and was carrying a shield and a tool that had a cupped section on one end, and a club on the other. “What are you doing here, Jaller?” The larger figure replied, releasing his grip on the handle of his weapon. “I should be asking you the same thing.” The matoran replied. “There was a quarrel over the implementation of a new defense mechanism for the Ta-Koro Gate. I went out looking for you, and, well, here we are. You aren’t easy to get a hold of you know!” “Unlike Lewa, I don’t respond to bird calls.” Tahu replied smugly. He turned back around to look at the burnt tree. “What’s so fascinating about that?” Jaller asked, moving up next to Tahu. “Before I became a Toa Nuva…before I had these swords, I crafted my on lavaboard from the wood of this tree. The same wood your shield was crafted from.” Tahu ran his hand down the smooth side of the tree, where as a Toa Mata he had sliced clean through it with his fire sword. Jaller moved closer to the tree and placed his shield next to it. Such broken down material had crafted one of his most valued tools. “Most matoran get easily lost in this forest, and you find the exact tree you visited years ago. What’s the point?” “I’m not one for sentiment, Matoran.” He sneered “But I have my reasons.” Before Tahu could continue, a noise in the air broke their speech. It was a quiet, low hum that quickly began to get louder, and became more distinguishable as a buzzing noise. Due to the ash in the area, seeing any distance ahead of you was near impossible. Yet as Tahu and Jaller scanned the area, a black cloud began to visualize before them. “It’s a Hoto swarm!” Jaller yelled, and slammed his shield down while bracing his legs. Thousands of them. Small, red and orange insects known as Hoto bugs were flying together in this mass. Hoto bugs were generally known to travel in swarms, and were destructive wherever they went. They could heat their bodies up to extreme temperatures capable of melting rock, which was their means of tunneling and creating nests in earth and rock, however they also used the ability as a weapon. One swarm of Hoto had decided to attack Le-Wahi a short while ago, and the result was described by Lewa as a second case of the Tahnok. Tahu reached for his swords, and as he removed them from his back he slashed in the air, throwing a bolt of fire at the swarm. Those who were hit by it simply shrugged it off and continued to move. Jaller took his Kohlii stick and slammed it against his shield. “Come on you little pests!” He yelled with great enthusiasm. Tahu stepped in front of him, and closed his eyes, allowing a shield to engulf them both. This was the work of the Hau Nuva, Tahu’s mask. As the swarm and the front of it reached the two beings, they were disintegrated as soon as they touched the shield. It took a moment for the swarm to realize what was happening, and the Hoto bugs quickly changed their direction to going upward. As soon as they had started to go up, those in front directed themselves back down and flew like bullets to attempt an attack from the air. Just as before, this attack failed, and the bugs were destroyed as they met the shield. A second change in course became more dangerous as the bugs began to fly around Tahu and Jaller, in a hurricane shaped motion. The heat from their bodies was focused inward, and soon they had created a constant heatwave that had engulfed the area inside of their flight pattern. Tahu’s shield could hold up to the heat, but the instant he dropped the shield he would need to act fast or else the inferno would be difficult to escape. “Jaller, get down!” Tahu yelled over the buzzing of the Hoto. Jaller dropped down, and covered his head with his shield. Tahu crouched, and quickly expanded the shield to disperse the Hoto’s swarm temporarily. As they began to regroup, Tahu leaped into the air, and spread out his arms and legs, and a massive shockwave of fire emitted from his body. The swarm was not killed by the fire, however they had been knocked back from the impact. “Let’s go!” Tahu urged, and Jaller leaped up to follow him. As they ran, the swarm reformed and began to chase them. A small group caught up to Jaller, but he swiped his shield and smashed them in mid-air. Tahu, with his hands on his swords, suddenly turned around and slashed them in the air, throwing a wall of lava at the attacked. Due to their speed, the Hoto were unable to change course and became engulfed by the wall of lava. The two fell silent. Tahu took his sword and sunk them into the ground, and sat down. “Another peaceful day on Mata Nui.” He stated with a smirk. *** Drip. Drip. Drip. The sound of an unknown liquid smacked against a rock floor, its echo rattling the walls of the cavern around it. The area was almost pitch black due to its location deep underground, with only the color of six, cylindrical shaped pillars in the center of the room. They were glowing a bright, luminous green, and each one had a darker shape inside of it. There were small bits of material floating in the tanks, and there was something else inside of them that vaguely resembled tall, black grass at the base. A pair of red eyes pierced the darkness, and their gaze turned to look at the pillars. It approached one of the cylinders, and placed and a large, black and red hand on it. The clear outer shell was cold to the touch. “Today, my sons, begins a new age. An age where this universe will no longer have its imbalance of mistakes. An end to those who are unwilling to give in to the embraces of shadow. The end of light, and the beginning of eternal darkness.” CCRRRZZZZKKKKK The clawed hand scratched down the side of the pillar, and the black shape inside of it stirred. It formed a fist, and busted into the clear coating, shattering a hole into the side of it. The liquid began to pour out, and the figure inside became restless. It spread its arms and legs, causing the glass to explode around it, sending shards across the cavern as the figure dropped to the ground, surrounded in the glowing liquid. It pulled itself off of the ground and stood at full height. The liquid continued to drip off of the figure as it let out a horrific screech that echoed through the cavern. “The first step is to shatter their leadership. Challenge the pride and confidence one’s leader has, and the rest will collapse underneath his team.” The creature stared up at the red-eyed figure who was speaking. The larger figure held out his hand, revealing a glowing red stone. A section of the creature’s chest opened, and the stone was place inside. There was a strong, tornado-like noise as the stone was pulled into place, and a loud bang when it was secured. A red steam emitted from the stone, and the crevices along the creature’s armor glowed a bright red. With a final screech, it turned and began making its way to a large opening in the ceiling. Without warning, the creature burst into a cloud of black material, and moved upward through the opening. “Go now, son of shadow. Wipe clean the virtue of leadership.” ---------------------------------------
