    Car Talk

This thread isn't nearly as active as it should be First wash of 2014 When summer starts up it's going to be quite a chore repairing the paint after this hellish winter. Bunch of small "wind" scratches in the paint that calls for some detailing clay and such. Also someone knicked my driver door in a parking lot so there is a bit of restoration I'll need to do to the paint there as well.
  2. Can't wait until summer comes around, favorite thing to do is roll down the city at night in my ride with my music rumbling. Great song for it. @Im a brickmaster: Not nessecarily "dubstepy" sounds, dubstep is very slow and has a constant sound. Modern day "dubstep" such as Skrillex, excision, and zomboy aren't what true dubstep is. I know some people say skrillex is "brostep" but really it's just part of the new era of dubstep which I don't like at all. I like classic dubstep, chillstep, glitchhop, or trap personally. I've seen a lot of people post some of the more modern era dubstep producers in this thread, just for a bit of fun here is what classic dubstep actually is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NKY31AaB-g
  3. I've always loved the sandcrawler. Missed out on the first one and regretted it, this is a strong possibility, eve at it's price.
  4. New trailer is out
  5. The super glue and nail polish ideas are extremely common amongst transformer collectors, though I'm not sure they would work as well with the style of joint that hero factory uses
  6. A year later and I have another round of minifigs up for sale. I have updated the first post with a photo of everything that is now available. Let's do this! VBBN
  7. A lot of nice things here, I do agree that it can be annoying that there are no pearl dark gray system pieces. With that said they do not look all that out of place since the system pieces complement the color of the gray bones. The only part I'm a bit iffy on is the dishes near his chest; They seem to be a visually jarring component to the figure, given that the rest of his armor is very angular and tightly locked.
  8. Also the new live action transformer movie will place their sales at a similar spot as 2007, 2009, and 2011, which were greater than 2013 I believe. Kre-O is just offering a building brick alternative to the brands that Hasbro offers that Lego and Mega Blocks will not have, it's not necessarily meant to compete. it is geared towards transformer fans and is a compliment to the many styles of figures that exist. They also have Construct-Bots which follows a ball and clip system, which at first people think is a Bionicle rip off, but the clip system is already in the mainline transformers line. This allows construct bot parts to interact with that system. Megablocks is a more direct competitor, and they have not failed either. They continue to produce sets, obtain licenses, and have gained a lot of trust from people with the Halo subline. Call of duty is a flop, but Halo continues to stay strong and is a large portion of their income, and it is most certainly not a failure. As competition to lego, they will not slow them down in any way, other than securing licenses that lego might miss, but as a company, they are very successful in their own right.
  9. Furno is a slightly more inspiring build than Jaw Beast(but of course is higher in price) and is the best of the first wave of Mechs, I don't know if you are leaning toward beast or Mech but those would be the top two contenders in each slot for sure. Both are good builds and parts packs in my opinion (but I like red sets so that may be a bit biased on my part for Furno)
  10. The issue here isn't the armor itself, it's the fact that we have little to no way of putting armor on the back of a bone. Some bones, the longer ones with technic holes allow for this, but the short bones do not. In comparison, a bionicle double socket connector (the shorter single pin variant) gave you two axle ports on the back, or you could feed a 3L pin through to attach armor on both sides. With the new system, when you have a shell on this piece, the back is rendered void of any additional connection points. Well they don't need to be any flatter, they just need to have a texture instead of being smooth. Like the scales in the IFB episode or an dinosaur skin type of texture. It was just a test of concepts, so there's a bunch of odd parts usages in there, but I always did like the overall shape of the figure. (And yeah Kronos is a lot bigger with all of the bulking up I've done to him compared to his first form as Tyrant) Now this is the biggest issue I have with the bone structure. Let's say you had pieces attached to the balljoint and the socket of that piece. The piece that is clipped on to the center balljoint, is leading to a critical support. If you want to cover the front of that balljoint now, you have to drag armor down from another portion of the moc, since a shell can no longer clip on. I don't really know how to explain what I'm saying, I guess the issue is that in order to keep the frame from collapsing, you continue to decrease the amount of balljoints you have open, thereby making armor add-ons much more difficult. For Kronos, his entire chest is a separate construct, and I had to attach it via 2 points on each side. I did have an underlying Bionicle construct that helped secure it, but in an HF-only build this is a crippling issue, especially when trying to create a thinner MOC. I'm not saying there aren't ways around it, but it would be nice to see some very creative new bone pieces. (A bone with two balljoints on the center might be a good start)
  11. Well creating a MOC using a majority of HF parts is very difficult to me, every crucial support piece in Kronos My mocs before were uh.. Whatever you want to call that Anyway all of the major support pieces were made with bionicle and technic parts. Hero factory made it easier to create shapes, because making an angle is a lot easier with balljoints than it is with technic beams and such, so I'll give it that. but if i try to build a structure out of purely HF parts, I find it a tedious task to properly support it and mix the styles. However I can't really comment much, Kronos is the only major HF based build I have done, all of my parts have went into him. Halcyon will feature more Bionicle influences, though i'd really like to have more time to experiment with HF parts as i do see a lot of potential. I think the thing it changed about my actual building techniques is that i build bigger now, I find it easier to create a continuous chain of attachment points with HF bones in comparison to some of the techniques I used with a primarily Bionicle system. The only thing I dislike is the flat face of HF parts. While I enjoy it for some things, I really wish they had some varied textures. ad not the same shell piece year after year. Many would argue with me on that point, but let's face it, the limbs in Bionicle got old, regardless of how many recolors they came out in. A change would be most welcome. Just having add on pieces like the 3.0 spikes and the kneecap pieces and such isn't enough. What if I wanted a textured piece with an add on piece on top of it?
  12. It was made clear when the theme first started by Greg that Hero Factory would be episode based theme, storyline elements from one year would not continue to the next. Some things of course stay same, like characters, but the storyline of previously is basically "in the past". That decision was based on lego's attempt to make the story more kid-friendly, so they can jump in and not be missing out on information from previous years. So really, the theme can end at any time, I don't think that is going to be a factor in their decision. However as Meso has said I would expect it to be a "last hoorah" when they go out, but having very high stakes, powerful enemies, etc. Many think IFB is the end because it is such large monsters, but personally I'd like to see a "shadow team" or shattered glass version of the heroes. "The greatest conflict is within us" Would be an interesting tagline. However that's a completely different topic of discussion. Did we ever have a "what would you like to see next in hero factory thread?" If not, I think that may be in order. I think I'm disappointed with how poorly the arguing has been handled. On an adult forum I would expect people to respect others opinions, and there has been a whole lot of not-that lately. If someone ha a valid point, then creating a new topic to share the thoughts is perfectly fine, but some of the hostility I've seen isn't the right way to go about it.
  13. An quickly done episode geared toward kids is not going to be a cinematic masterpiece. It may not have been as good as previous ones, but there's no need to get into a war about it. if you don't like it, it doesn't mean it's bad. When so many other people like it, your opinion is just that, your opinion. No reason to try to force the point
  14. I'm not exactly sure how arguing about the use age of parts has anything to do with the end of hero factory. When it inevitably ends, I think we will see all new parts. The parts give the theme it's aesthetic. With bionicle, the parts were very mechanical, whereas these parts are very flat and "clean". I might like to see a more rustic studded metal type of look or perhaps organic.
  15. My Songs Know What you Did in the Dark: Fall Out Boy ("Light em up" would have worked a lot better, that's a long title for a song..) Flying Lotus: The Kill (Great with subs)
  16. Hi Jack and welcome to Eurobricks! From what you described, your MOCs would certainly go in the action figure forum. If it's a heavily technic inspired vehicle or contraption, then it would go in the Technic forum. I look forward to seeing you in the Action Figure forum, do ask if you have anymore questions!
  17. One thing I've always wanted to see was the MAF, as all we have in terms of droid gunships is the HMP (more of a bomber than a gunship) For comparison Here is the HMP droid gunship, which at this point has seen 2 releases. And the MAF. The MAF (mechanized assault flyer) was only featured in Star Wars Battlefront I as a counter to the Republic Gunship. It's understandable that Lego has not used this design as it is a rather obscure reference, and I'm not sure if they would have the rights to the video game based design or not.
  18. Welcome to Eurobricks! Are there any themes in particular that you are developing an interest for?
  19. I feel the same way that I felt about dragon bolt; It could have been so much better. It's good for what it is, but it's not what I envisioned. It's too open and lanky for my tastes, and the "jet" on top doesn't even remotely flow with the lower half, it's just not appealing to me.
  20. Looking over BZP's pictures, IMO that Combat machine looks worse and worse in every picture we get.
  21. Frosticons and Glorp Corps are the two standout tribes for me so far and possibly the Wiztastics. Really liking the ninjago/furno sword the frosticons have.
  22. Thanks everyone! One focus here really was the feet, this is a very beasic design but I'll be trying to come up with a variety of designs, I think the piece is actually quite nice. TIs just a shame we only have two very bright colors for it AHAHAH yes that was a very questionable decision. I know some G2 stuff looked like a bag of skittles melting at the figure (I'm looking at you Bruticus) but he was just obnoxious. As I said it's mostly experimenting. After the 500th time using the standard hero feet, it's gotten a bit boring and I wanted to go for a different look. Flipping it the other way works too, they both give different aesthetics with the things you can add on. In this case I wanted to see how "toes" would look on them so that's why they are flipped in this manner. They are a bit long n back, but Mechs don't always have proper proportions; The legs especially has a really terrible section jutting out from behind the shin due to the mess of jumper bodies I've got on there
  23. Yeah, getting them on the legs was a horribly planned decision. I like the look from the front, a sort of "feathered" look, but from the sides they look terrible. And the ones i had on the shoulders got pushed back as more armor got added on. They really aren't the easiest bit to use. Though the seats I feel will have a lot of possibilities, ignoring the fact that the color makes them limited
  24. I have literally lost my mind. Nothing serious here, other than a blatant attempt to blind you all. Mainly I was messing around with the seats and jumper bodies and this happened. Name was inspired through the obnoxious colors, and I thought the "frill" on his back made me think of their winged design, albeit in the wrong orientation
