A fine review! Cute figures indeed, Obi Wan has a very clever hairstyle and is by a far my favorite, I'd say Yoda is second, rex is third, C3PO is fourth, and R2 is my least favorite. Not saying he is bad, but I think he is a bit strange looking. In any case, these are far better than the set we got at Comic COn last year, the one with the Hailfire droid and extra clone troopers and whatnot(or was that Comic con 2008?)
-
A good start. I haven't read the tale of the Toa book in a while but I have a vague memory of it, and this definatly sounds on par with how that story began. The detailing is good, and there is a lot of character to your writing, such as the actions of the waves. I like that Gali is the first character you bring into the story. So many writers would bring in Tahu because he is the fan favorite, but I much prefer seeing one of the other toa brought into the equation.
-
Hah yeah I just reported those to BZP a little while ago. Just made a few heros, gonna go try out the Von nebula mission.
-
Read the comic, makes me dislike Rotor's eyes all the more because they werent cut out. If they looked like they did in the comic(maybe even stickers or something), he would loook far better.

You guys have seen plenty of face images from me... So heres a back view! And for the record i normally wear shorts but it was cold out that day.
-
A fine review! And a fine set indeed, I love these classics and this set is no exception. Plus; It comes in a pink box. That is the deal breaker right there.
-
Thaks for that review, Honestly this is almost my least favorite villan, he only stands before corroder because of his fantastic recolored bits and awesome helmet/mask/face/automated self-serve taco machine. Design wise he is abit too gangly, and those spikey bits are kinda half-assed.

Firstly, heres a smaller lot; Now then, the two big guys. I'm willing to take offers on these, however I am also willing to trade for any of the following; -Tahu Star -Hero Factory Drop ship, furno bike, or William Furno. -Mata Nui Canister set -Mata Nui titan set -Shinkis -Gundam(Preferrably MISB) Anyhow offer away. Offers must be higher than Technic beams- $10 1st parts lot- $30 2nd parts lot- $30 Prices do not include shipping Regards VBBN

Well, in some regards it is, it's got that shade of silver to it, but the silver mata masks were swirly and on the verge of being translucent. The new silver is very opaque, like the original nuva weapons.

Makes me think of the brutes seen in halo 3/halo ODST. Very bulky, Excellent torso. Nice work, and great techniques!

Lend Me Your Ears Fellow Senators, I Am Shadowhawk101
VBBN replied to Shadowhawk101's topic in Hello! My name is...
Well, I'll give you points for originality, your way of speaking seems very proper(and thus very confusing for me ) Anyhow, welcome to Eurobricks and have fun here! Get to know some of the members, you're sure to have a good time then. -
Your welcome. Yes I agree, those are the only ones that interested me out of them all. They have their own thing going for them due to very unique designs, but in this case, unique is actually pulled off. It seems Xplode and Nebula tried to have unique designs, but the execution of the figures is not very good. While I agree, I also disagree. I agree because I would like some added technic holes and such to MOC with, I love using pieces in ways not used before(i.e using the ankleguards on Rotor as a new Vahi), but many of these pieces are hard to do so with. On the other hand, I am always reminded of the movie I Robot. The old robots were scrawny and weak, whilst the new ones were smooth, tougher, and far superior. I much prefer the smoother and more solid look the heros have, verses the look that the Agori and Phantoran had. And when you think more of megablocks and Neo Shifters than lego, is that a terrible thing? Sure, MB may have horrid quality, but they have decent designs and such. Thats an issue of quality versing design, whilst lego has the issue of design vs execution. With that said, the weapon arms are a joke and I hope lego has learned their mistake. Thats the only thing keeping me from buying the Bulk and vapor set. Honestly, a 25$ profit to a store is lost because of one piece lazily designed. It's not a big number, granted, but that puts it into perspective. Anyhow I don't know if I should get two more villans or if I should buy a second rotor to part out. He's a fantastic parts pack likemost of the villans, which could be their saving grace come december when they go on sale (If they go to $5 each, I'm buying two of each) Legomationstudio is gonna do a giveaway for a meltdown, I suppose I'll enter that, I'm all for a second,if nothing else for the mata yellow.

Podcast 3 is up.
-
Eh, it's an untraditional build that gives him terrible articulation. Though he does get points for creativity, but so does Rotor.
-
I must agree, I dig them on the set. Granted, I wouldn't want a whole set of them like Ben 10 as every limb on a Ben 10 set is hollow, but when used in moderation such as here, I enjoy them being used. Yessir I'll have that pic up tomorrow. Thanks, I will have plenty more reviews up. I recently looked over the set list of Bionicle and other Ation figure sets that don't have reviews and the list was close to 300, so I want to start reviewing some older sets while continuing on with these Hero Factory reviews. Since it might be a month till I buy the Bike and Dropship I'll tryand get some classic Bionicle reviews up in the meantime.

To see my review of rotor, Go here! To see my review of Meltdown, Go here!

Welcome back, next up is a review of Rotor! Rotor is one of the two large bad-guy sets alongside Von Nebula (Vapour is as well but he comes with bulk so he's expensive. Really he's about the size of a medium set). So anyhow, I ordered Rotor here for $20 along with Meltdown. And I have to say,I was actually extremely happy with the set. I liked him, but I didn't think he would be as cool as he really is. Boy was I wrong, read on to see what makes this guy awesome! Set name: Rotor Set Number: 7162 Price: 19.99$, 23,99(?) Euro Pieces: 145 Year of release: 2010 The Box Front Rotor's box is standard for most 20$ Bionicle villans. Rotor is flying, it shows the set info, and his name. Also shows is that Bionicle tribute logo that's on all the HF sets. Back The back shows Rotor fighting Surge and Bulk(Bulk is a busy guy!) Also shown are the set's funtions. Contents Bags As we open the box we are greeted by many things. First up are 4 bags of parts. Next, the instructions. FInally, we have the sticker sheet. Instructions Standard instructions. Unfortunatly, mine were a bit wrinkled. New pieces New pieces include his mask, which is very interesting in design. At first we thought he had no eyes. Personally I would have liked if those huge vents on the side of the face were his eyes, give him a very bug-like look. Anyways it fits over a Glatorian skull piece. Next we have the...well,I'm going to dub this the "Hero Factory Chunky Thing or HFCT" because I have no idea what to call it, in black. We also have what I assume to be a new technic bit, but I could be wrong since I didn't collect the vehicles or Technic sets. He also has that new pin with the flat head. Recolored pieces Like most of the villans, Rotorincludes a heafty amount of recolors. The zamor is a slightly darker shade than the one that came with meltdown. We have the Mata Nui/Ackar ankle guards in orange, the titan pistons in orange, the thoranx launcher in orange, the jet rockets in orange, and the inika shoulder armor in, take a guess, orange. We also have those tan stud-axles, and the Avtoran jetpack in the new silver. The New Silver Here is a picture to clear up the confusion we were having over the new silver. As you can see,it's much lighter than gunmetal and slightly darker than the old silver. It's really nice and looks less cheap. Buliding Torso .Here is the start of his torso. As you can see, the new HFCT forms his chest armor. As I mentioned in my review of Meltdown, the stickers look good if you take the time to apply them correctly. Legs The legs are a decent build and get quite bulky as you add more onto them. The orange pistons look really nice here. Legs added Armor gets added to them later. Arms and head added His arms use the HFCT like most of the Villans, and he uses a Glatorian skull. At this point he's about 12 inches tall. More torso This is where the Backpack starts to come together. Build on the rotors and put on some finishing touches and.... Finished Set Front I'm going to go ahead and explain his gimmick. Essentially, his rotor can spin around freely, and it can pivot forward and back. As you move the pivot forward and back, his thrusters on the back move accordingly. Simple, yet effective. Back Posed He has some good articulation, unlike his counterpart Von Nebula. His legs have great articulation and are very stable. Bonus Images Size comp He's really big. From his foot to the tip of the Rotor, he's 15 inches tall.,a nd he's really bulky. You feelin' lucky, punk? Overall, Rotor is yet another excellent figure from the Hero Factory line. His gimmick is fun and he has good articulation and parts. Unforutnatly, this is where my positve thoughts on the HF line stop. Von Nebula and the other villans are nowhere near as cool as the figures I have already reviewed. I don'tplan on picking up the other 3 heros or villans at this time, perhaps when they go on sale. However, I will be for sure picking up the Furno bike and Dropship set when I get some money together. Colors scheme- 9/10 (Not really a fan of halloween schemes ) Parts- 9.5/10 (Would have liked a new weapon besides the jetpack gun. ) Design- 10/10 (Fantastic Looking) Articulation- 9/10 (Again, the arms leave something to be desired) Quality- 9/10 (Instructions were wrinkled) Overall: 46.5/50 Excellent As always, questions, comments, and pic requests welcome!

If that was the case then it's strange because Rotor doesn't have it and I doubt Xplode would have it. The extra ball is honestly not that obvious, the Skrall armor hides it fairly well. It just shows up balantly on these pictures because the piece is new to it's really shiney. There is one of the pieces, it's used to hold together his Thornax. And no, it is definatly not thinner. Compared to Vorox's canister, it is about 2 cm thicker than the thickest part of the canister.

Hey welcome back! Time for yet another review by VBBN! Today I'll be looking at Meltdown, who seems to be the most anticipated of the 4 medium-sized villans, followed shortly by Xplode. I've reviewed a couple heros, so let's see how the Violans stack up! Set name: Meltdown Set Number: 7148 Price: 12.99$, 14,99 Euro Pieces: 50 Year of release: 2010 The Box Front So, these medium sized villans that cost 13$ are actually replacing the standard toa-sized canister sets. However, they now come in Boxes as opposed to canisters like the Heroes do. Personally I prefer this, as it is much easier to store them(you can flatten them out). Meltdown's box art is FANTASTIC. It's bright, clean, and very attractive to the eye. Back The back shows Meltdown fighting Stringer and the shooting function the set has. Sides Two sides of the box I find interesting. One of them is a size chart of meltdown's head. The other one has the words "Liquidateur Meltdown" Why they put that there I haven't any idea, as there is no such thing on Rotor's box. Size Comparison As you can see, these are the largest containers for 10-13$ sets we have seen so far. Opening Now there is a tab that you can push to open the box by it's side, but I like to open them this way as it is easier to flatten them for storage. Contents Inside As you can see here, the bulk of the parts are contained in a plastic baggie, with the technic pieces in a smaller baggie. The tubes and larger stuff are left out. Very similar to the Mahri's way of being packaged actually. There is also the sticker sheet, which I don't mind as it gives you the option to apply them or not. I put them on as straight as I could, took me about 10 minutes to get them perfect. Recolored parts Before I get on with the recolored parts, I heard a lot of people saying that the Mantax claws were recolored. they are actually seen(2 of them) in the lego Exo Force set named "Storm Slasher." Now then, we have Metru limbs in mata yellow, which is fantastic. I really am sick of having to use Bitil's limbs for MOCing. We also have the mahri tubes in clear with lime green injection. Vastus had dark green injection. Next, we have the Ackar/Mata Nui shin guards in mata yellow(Mata Nui's were Keetorange) We also have a Kalmah tentacle in lime green, which is perfect for an alien moc. Next, the zamor sphrere is a shade of green that is slightly darker than the ones seen in jaller and Hahli inika. I thought it was the same until I put them side-by-side. Finally, we have the Thornax launcher pieces in black. New pieces New pieces are equally as interesting. First we have his head, which is a very awesome sculpt. I must say something, IT CAN FIT ON A METRU HEAD. However it stickes out and looks ridiculous if you put it on. Next we have the Ben 10 limbs. While not new,I thought I would throw them in since most of the lego community doesn't care about ben 10 sets 9nor do I, I think it's terrible but that's another story to be told). The joints on it are really weird, I must say. Very thick in design. Anyways, next is the new torso which seems to be on almost everyone except for Von nebula. Next up, we have the new..well, whatever you want to call that yellow piece. Regardless, it's got some great mocing possibilities and I welcome anything Mata yellow into my collection. Next we have that strange new pin piece, like a shortened version of the piece that works in pistons in the titan sets. Finally,we have his toxic barrels. Man, they are fantastic. They are hollow so you can put extra amor or something in them, and they have an axle hole as well as two viking-horn sized holes ont he botton. Instructions The instructions are standard fare for a Bionicle type of set. Strangely, it has a piece of paper that says "To be placed in building instructions" All it is, is the saftey warnings. Buliding Start .His build starts off with the torso and legs Adding arms No cracked joints yet! Finished Set Front Back Posed Meltdown's unique articulation can give him some very awesome poses,I must say. Bonus Images We've got a hero down! Size Comparison Meltdown isn't huge, but he hus faily bulky in the arms and has lots of little bits sich as the barrakki eye. Overall, Meltodwn is a fantastic figure. Sure, he's not the biggest set there is, but he's comprised of almost entirely new or recolored pieces, and the pieces that aren't, are still excellent MOCing pieces, such as the yellow mantax claws and skrall armor. His design is unique and the color scheme is excellent. Colors scheme- 10/10 (No complaints whatsoever.) Parts- 9.5/10 (Would have liked if the mask was compatible with Glatorian heads.) Design- 10/10 (Fantastic Looking) Articulation- 8/10 (He is limited with his arms, but it gives him cool poses in the end.) Quality- 8.5/10 (The mask and yellow chunky weapon things aren't as good of quality as the mantax claws and metru limbs are.) Overall: 46/50 Excellent As always, questions, comments, and pic requests welcome!

I know, it's only the first design. It's not all about stressing female features, It's about making females have a different design than males. Here is an example I threw together on two toa; As you can see, the female torso is still bulky like the male one, however it is more streamlined and has a more prominent chest than the design to the left.
-
Yeah they are slightly lighter, the same issue was with tarix, his feet were darker than his hands.
-
Unless I got a mismolding here, my Surge does NOT have the new silver, it's the exact same pearl as the Piraka had, NOT the gunmetal/silver that Thunder has. Bulk and Thunder might, but for my Surge it's a negative.
