  1. Nice work on the torsos. Now that I see these, I actually think the yellow trim looks much better than the blue one on the new redcoats. I also prefer the yellow trim over the red one on the bluecoats, so if TLG makes new bluecoats in the future, I hope they choose a yellow trim (unlike the bluecoats in the Lego Battles game).
  2. Thanks for pointing that out But I agree: nice shot.
  3. The second one of these seems to be the most compelling reason why pirates will continue into 2010 (and beyond hopefully). That TLG is only now soliciting ideas for future pirates sets also suggests that they will not likely come out in January 2010 just yet, because the lead-time would be rather too short. I agree that the two points mentioned in the first post don't really point to anything. Armada helmets have been around a bit longer already again (right?) and that unprinted shako could be a cost-benefit trade-off just for the calendar. I'd expect - for example - blue coat shakos to also be printed.
  4. Sure you're not missing a '1' here?
  5. Rick

    Legostadt

It only appears in one set (of which I own two, one still MISB).
  6. I like peaceful scenes/sets/MOCs. For example, many pirates can be used as civilians and who says that Jolly Roger is supposed to look scary? Cartoon violence only for me (the 80s/90s castle and pirates line always looked rather cartoony to me, perhaps because of the ever-smiling classic smiley face that all minifigs had).
  7. Well someone, somewhere down the line paid TLG, so don't feel guilty I got: 6239 (x2, canon battle), 6242 (soldier's fort), 6243 (brickbeard's bounty), and 6754 (creator house)
  8. Yes (It's even worth €150 'cause that's what it costs over here and what I've paid, or was it €140, back then?). But I'd advise you to read a review (there's undoubtedly one here on EB) and look at some detail pictures of the set.
  9. I got this set today (for €30, I consider the S@H price of €50 way too high). I like the design of the harbor (you can hardly call it a fort), but I was wondering: to sticker or not to sticker? What are your opinions on this regarding this set (especially the wall stickers of course)?
  10. Welkom hier Welcome here
  11. I don't think your alone. I've especially been finding MISB old sets for (old) retail prices......... in my dreams . However, the dreams never stretched as far as opening the boxes and certainly not finding them filled with basic bricks.
  12. So you expected people to have collected and assembled sigfigs and then go on to trade/sell them? I guess you have to do the job yourself. Anyway, I'm not selling any precious ( ) bluecoats to you. My sigfig is relatively easily reproduced out of some common Pirates I sets (with a modern head though, note the brown tricorner, not black).
  13. Ah ok... btw: your current avatar freaks me out, it's not entirely 'fairy-like'
  14. There's also a Walrus Keeper, I bet she makes fun of you every once in a while. Thanks for updating! I've enjoyed reading the descriptions: some very funny ones. One thing: the rank icon for 'I'm new' is incorrect: you used the 'Vassal' icon for that.
  15. TLG has really been thinking about AFOLs with that army men set (although I'm not a fan of modern military stuff). The Western village perhaps looks a little too 'toy-ish', but detail pictures will have to clear that up.
  16. BSB has a crew of 8 (Redbeard, a wench, two pirates with blue coats and tricorner hats, and four 'regular' pirates with striped shirts and Village People mustaches), SES has a crew of 9. Eldorado Fortress is unique also in those days in being closed on all sides, although it clearly has a 'windier' back than front side.
  17. As I'm in Europe this is not directly relevant, but I sure am curious to find out what's behind the decision to not sell it in North-America. Was there a reason given last year?
  18. I had the same thoughts upon seeing the Toy Story western set. As long as pirates doesn't have to make way for it... TLG can bring back Western. I don't own a single Western set, but I've always enjoyed looking at the sets and - talk about ideas for possible new Western sets - Brickminer's Western MOCs, especially this train (station). I however doubt whether I would collect it.
  19. Thanks, be sure to keep it up to date in the future Maybe you can also use it to explain the difference between regulators and moderators, never really got that.
  20. Gold fish tend to leave LEGO untouched as well... although they must be looking forward to the new Atlantis theme.
  21. Perhaps if all you've got is City, Town Plan would be best (more buildings, better matches classic town scale), but the Modulars are absolutely irresistible once you have one. All the details are just great. If I had to pick one of those it would be GG.
  22. The legs aren't that hard to remove, are they? Just push the red pin out sidewards (with a toothpick or whatever you have handy) and the legs basically fall off... at least that's what I've done to a FabFig (is this term trademarked already?) once.
  23. Hmm, indeed, sounds like an easy cash cow for TLG.
  24. 50 x 50 pixel 16 color pictures Constraction = Construction + Action ?
  25. Preliminary images seem to get worse from year to year. I mean, come on... tiny pictures of preliminary set designs on a low-resolution screen Anyway: looks like the 2010 news season has officially been opened. I bet we'll see more and more of the 2010 line-up in the coming weeks.
