Great set, the real army builder of Pirates 2009 (I got 2 for €4.40 each). Funny little story to go with it, thanks for the review.

There's nothing wrong with those windows per se. I guess my comments relate not only to the windows on the third (second for the North-Americans) floor, but to the whole second and third floor. Adding some details or 'depth' to the building would definitely help (TheOtters' balconies are a nice idea). But do you need the white bricks next to the windows given that they have a 2 deep (2 x 4 x 2) frame? Perhaps if you would use those in another color (white?) you could integrate them in the roof without needing the 1 wide white bricks next to them.

Indeed, that's what confuses me as well... that makes it almost certainly not a Racers nor a Creator set (or do Creator sets have steering wheels?). But it also doesn't really fit in with recent City sets as it uses relatively small wheels and 1 x 4 arches as mudguards. Moreover Wout describes a different set. I guess we'll just have to be patient to get a definitive answer.
-
It could (I know nothing more than you guys do, if anything less than Wout at least) still be part of a Creator set, although those vehicles are usually simpler in design. If you look at this picture, you see that the Racers sets were displayed close to the Creator sets.

I agree, but K-D seems to be a really classic town die-hard Those are the details I think would really break up the walls and make the whole building a little less bulky.
-
Armendariz, with Green/Blue Hair and Dr. Green Coat (Steve) really closely behind. I just happen to like Armendariz' bananas, barrels, and pizzas.
-
Great idea... lyrics illustrated with Lego! .... and a great build! You really captured the atmosphere of the song/lyrics.
-
Your advice goes a little against the classic town 'rules'. I really like all the detail you put in. I just think the building looks a little 'chunky'/'blocky' overall: the walls of the building as well as the windows on the roof are a little 'flat'.

That speed racers window is great for making sportscars. However, I don't really like 6-wide cars (5-wide max, 6- and 7-wide for trucks). But other than that: it looks really good.
-
Sounds very good, be sure to post some pics on EB once you're done.

Agreed, plus I don't think the sleeping compartment is 'usable' in this version. I was expecting TLG to make the front four-wide with a six-wide back as well, it definitely looks much better. And you have significantly improved the interior, the main problem with the official camper.
-
I think we got a good amount of trucks already, so I don't really agree. One per year would be fine with me... I think that's supposed to be a tram line. I really hope TLG releases a tram with a track system that somehow blends in nicely with the road plates: maybe we'll see the four-wide (or six-wide, however you define the width of the track) track from the Indy-set back next year.

There are no hatches, so nothing opens up, if that's what you mean... Access to the area below the deck is through the 'arches' of which two were already included in the official set to reach the area below the captain's cabin. I added two more arches to the front as well.
-
Not sure if it's part of the racer set, because I seem to spot a steering wheel in there. In terms of color and elements used, it looks more like it belongs to a Creator (one of those brick buckets) set. But I wouldn't rule out it's City.

The worst thing that can happen to a LEGO Pirate collector
Rick replied to General Armendariz's topic in LEGO Pirates
Luckily it's just one fig, but this looks horrible. There is a general topic about this - destruction by pets - though... (which I can't seem to find at the moment). -
Thanks for the kind words guys. I wanted to simply add the decks to the set instead of completely redoing the whole set. That's why I decided to not extend it or modify the cabin, as I happen to like most of the rest of the ship (of course the classic mast pieces, sails, and bow and stern pieces were much better, but they aren't coming back anytime soon). Because of the colors available now, the color scheme of BB looks much better than most of the classic pirate ships. I never even considered anything else but tan as a color for the deck. However, I was adding the deck in a rainbow of colors before ordering the brown and tan parts from PaB, so I only imagined what it would look like.

Just to be sure: "finger" instead of inch and "hand" instead of mile. But those Dutch words aren't so different from their English equivalents, so you probably got that already. Looking forward to the repair/utility truck, sounds good, thanks again for the news Wout.
-
I doubt whether these would be popular among kids I also would like to see some variety in stores added to the City line. There seems to be a repair worker (lights) in the 2010 line-up.

89c Brickbeard's Bounty just isn't complete without a deck and railing, so I decided to place a PaB order (around €9.50) to fix that. I've given it a BSB style deck (without the hatches) and also extended the 'plank' from 2 x 6 to 2 x 8. I'm quite happy with the results. Let me know what you think.

It was on a Czech webshop's list of 2010 sets.
-
Because TLG also uses that term in one of their bulk sets (well they called them 'bricks', which is obviously wrong). But I think it was already used by the AFOL community way before this set was released.
-
Most of the sets were already released/announced when the poll was first released. But indeed the Octan tanker is only up for 2010, so there may be more hints - the obvious one appearing in two of the pictures being (a) 'Taxi'-set(s) - in the pictures.
-
We haven't seen pictures of this yet. Curious about this. These sound really good. So 3179 is sort of like this classic or more like a cherry picker?
