  1. I definitely think you shouldn't try to expand into other themes. Classic-Town.net, coupled with the forum on EB is probably the best Lego Town blog, like Classic-Pirates.com together with the corresponding EB forum is the best Lego Pirates blog. Focus and build on these strengths. What I think is useless on the blog and not used very often is the comments. For most MOCs and other news posts there is a corresponding EB topic, which can be used for comments. What you might think of when you link off-site (i.e., not on Eurobricks) MOCs, is to create a topic in the Town or Train forum to discuss that MOC. I think that would work better to stimulate discussion. To illustrate, I never bothered to sign up to Classic-Town.net just to leave comments. I would prefer to do that on the EB forum. Thanks to the team for all the efforts!
  2. I have the idea these lines are developed independently to some extent. For example, the Atlantis line gets all new faces, whereas the City line is stuck with the same faces for years and doesn't even 'borrow' from other themes. So, I don't know whether we should get our hopes up. But it sure could be a new Pirate captain's face...
  3. I'm sure this is my first post in the Bionicle forum (and probably my last for a long time), but I just have to say you really nailed this one!
  4. OOOPS, my bad! Somehow it got into my mind that TLG asked for it. That's even better, a great initiative, nice summary, I'm happy with the recommendations you made, because they nicely align with my ideas about the future of Pirates.
  5. Welkom/Welcome to Eurobricks! SW Lego and My Little Ponies are kind of a weird combination. I like your username (the Dutch name for the Fabuland cat). Also, you may want to join the 'EB Ladies' group...
  6. 'Billund' (TLG) asked for this report, so I sure hope they can be bothered to read a two page summary.
  7. It's not like these are extremely hard to make*, so I bet any Lego fan could look at the pictures, order the required parts of Bricklink, drill a few holes, add some metal or string, and be done for a fraction of the price. Hard to sustain business model in my view... * Of course it requires a creative mind to turn Lego into jewelry, but the actual 'production' isn't that hard, and the ideas are virtually impossible to 'protect'.
  8. I ordered 101 pieces Tan: 1 x tile 1 x 2 2 x plate 1 x 2 2 x plate 1 x 3 3 x plate 1 x 4 1 x plate 2 x 2 1 x plate 2 x 3 3 x plate 2 x 4 2 x plate 2 x 6 2 x plate 2 x 8 2 x plate 4 x 6 4 x plate 6 x 6 2 x brick 1 x 2 4 x slope 1 x 2 45 degree 2 x arch 1 x 6 x 2 Brown: 2 x plate 1 x 2 4 x plate 1 x 3 8 x plate 1 x 6 2 x plate 2 x 4 6 x plate 2 x 6 2 x plate 2 x 8 1 x palisade brick 1 x 2 ('cause its cheaper than a 1 x 2 brick ) Black: 4 x tile 1 x 8 2 x plate 1 x 4 2 x plate 1 x 10 32 x round plate 1 x 1 2 x brick 1 x 4 2 x brick 2 x 2 x 3 1 x fence 1 x 4 x 2 with 2 'knobs' (TLG's name )
  9. I have a feeling the color scheme will ultimately grown on a lot of people, considering the initial reactions to the lime and orange last year...
  10. Two bays with a door would fit on the ground floor. You could then move the bench with the helmets to under the stairs. Oh, but the pole in combination with an engine bay will be a problem then I guess, which would have to be moved to the side with the stairs then as well, which ultimately would mean you'd have to redesign the floors above as well... so maybe widening it would be the best solution after all...
  11. That's my 'suspicion' as well... I agree, it's kind of inconsistent in this way. The Exclusives are evaluated on totally different standard by most of us. My vote would have certainly gone to 10197 if it were included. I'll second that.
  12. Instantly recognizable as a 'Svelte' (when I saw it on the frontpage, I know it was yours). Excellent work, I like how you've converted everything aspect of the set into its Medieval equivalent. And the tree looks much better with snow added to it.
  13. From what I've read of the thread - and that was most of it - it seems like an excellent summary of AFOLs' ideas about the Pirates line. I also think it was a good idea to summary what we DON'T want to see.
  14. It's quite common in the creator house series (I believe 4956 is the only one with a 32 x 32 baseplate) as well as in the modular building series. Packaging or availability issue maybe?
  15. I agree, this looks awesome, without even considering its your first attempt. This will definitely will be a serious contender for winning in the small category.

    City 2010

Sorry, too lazy to look it up Now if only they would do prints on the back like the Pirates line...
  17. Blacktron I fans will be happy with the trans-yellow windscreen piece. Funky colors on that second set. I won't buy, but I definitely like the design of these SP sets even more than the 2009 line.
  18. Funny concept and very well executed. Pineata, booze, fireworks, what more does a party need?
  19. The dark blue roof is really nice. I also like all the little details they're putting into the recent creator houses (compared to the Building Bonanza set, they've really improved). Tan window and door frames. The lawn mower is simple but a really nice touch.

    City 2010

If you zoom in, you can also see it's a little 'airy' in the back (it looks like there's nothing in between the two black slopes).
  21. I guess they need to go the other way, right?
  22. The 'bigger' version only shows up in the early instruction manuals and box art after the introduction of the piece. I own various sets of that era and I only have the standard male minifig hair piece still in use today. So, I always assumed that this means that the final design wasn't completed yet when they were making the instruction manuals and box art. As suggested, Lego may have used the pigtail hairpiece as a basis for the early prototypes.

    City 2010

A 1 x 3 tile with hinge (foot of the lamp post), did that exist before? The repair truck isn't really special in terms of design, but it's a nice addition to the City line.
  24. Shows that randomness can be pleasing to the eye sometimes Weren't you planning on adding another bay to your Fire Brigade?
  25. I'm not into Technic at all. What's the effect you're talking about (or are they just expensive in 'New' condition)?
