This is a great emotional scene in all its simplicity. An example of where one picture tells a whole story. I like the photography from behind the soldier's back and the overgrown garden and wrecked fence.

I almost did as well. I hope they continue the trend of including full interiors in future Modulars. If they continue the series that is, but I see no reason to discontinue it. Is there any word on this from TLG? Basically: I love all of my Modular Buildings, even Cafe Corner's exterior still holds up really well among the newer buildings, but I think many will agree that Green Grocer just has a tiny little edge over the other two. btw: didn't we have a topic very similar to this, which also included Market Street (I know, strictly not part of the series) and Town Plan (which just didn't belong in the poll)?

LEGO Shop FREE Shipping w/$99 purchase !
Rick replied to BlueDragonZ's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
No, sorry, I wouldn't classify that Agents set as lovely. Seriously: Those look terrible, so this may be one benefit that Europeans have over Americans, because I've always received my boxes from S@H in very good condition. They use very sturdy outer boxes here. -
When are we going to change our banner?
Rick replied to pr0visorak's topic in Forum Information and Help
Leafs are starting to fall over here... don't wanna push things, but are there any plans for a new banner? Makes me realize it's kind of a Northern hemisphere banner. Be sure to include Spongebob! -
I'm not attending, but I hope you don't mind me making a suggestion. Don't you want tick boxes that allow multiple dates to be selected instead of a mutually exclusive list? When you allow multiple selections, you can be sure that a date that most people can make it, wins.

I was wondering about this as well. Also other statistics, like posting activity over time, for example. I wouldn't want anyone spending time on this, but if it would merely be a matter of 'enabling' some more statistics, it would be fun to see.

Instructions To Build ALL 30 Models Of The Lego Hobby Train (10183)
Rick replied to AFOL SF's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Instructions for the main model can be found as a PDF here. -
I'm guessing TLG would always like to have at least two Modular Buildings out at the same time. By that logic the announcement of a new Modular set should be your wake-up call. I think the announcement that production of the Cafe Corner was stopped came around the time of the announcement of Fire Brigade.

Nice crossover between the original Brickbeard's Bounty and the upcoming Imperial Flagship. The details on the side of the ship (like the Imperial Flag Ship) are nice. I'd only suggest expanding the cabin some more. Now that the ship has two more midsections, it could definitely do with a bigger stern section.

Original idea and an excellent build. Well done!

Agreed! I like the whole, but I think you should try to make the towers a little bigger and try to get rid of as many studs as possible, because they're pretty distracting in miniscale. But the pieces for the dome and the pillars are well-chosen.

Pirates I: 6235 Buried Treasure 6245 Harbor Sentry (2x) 6251 Pirate Mini Figures 6259 Broadside's Brig 6265 Sabre Island 6270 Forbidden Island 6276 Eldorado Fortress 6277 Imperial Trading Post 6285 Black Seas Barracuda I got a lot of these sets second hand recently. I orginally only had 6245, 6251, 6270, and 6276. Pirates II: 6239 Cannon Battle (2x) 6241 Loot Island 6242 Soldiers' Fort 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty 10210 Imperial Flag Ship (so I don't have to update this in January 2010 )

Thanks! RalphS is referring to 1 x 3 plates (he doesn't mention tiles anywhere), but your wishful thinking will be answered next year (2010). There will be Power Miners sets with 1 x3 tiles in lime, which means other colors won't be far away anymore.

What's her EB member name? Congratulations. Enjoy the party!

That's a very creative technique: it looks really realistic. I've never seen something like this before. You must have millions of 1 x 1 round plates by now.

True, it appears to be sold out in Europe. There was an announcement from TLG some time back that they had stopped producing it, so it was only a matter of time before it got sold out. So it was discontinued some time ago already, ... prices for MISB copies should be skyrocketing soon, following the price trend of Market Street after that got sold out on S@H.

This may be a weird time to kick this topic. But I'm seriously considering getting this now after hearing about the new pig pen with really nice tractor that's scheduled for 2010. After reading your review I'm doubting even more. The tractor, little stable, cows and all the accessories are really nice, I'm just not sold yet on the barn and the silo. Did anyone try combining this with the 'European' version of the main model of the 4956 creator house added as a farm house?

Those hippies probably like that... That's my main concern with the TLG camper. I want to do a 4 or 5 wide front with 6 or 7 wide back one day. Did you change anything besides the color scheme? Although it looks nice, I must admit I like the original color scheme better. This one reminds me of the Playmobil version of my sister. (While searching I found this Playmobil camper and caravan... I sure wouldn't mind if TLG would borrow some ideas for sets from Playmobil once in a while)

... and closed studs for minifig heads were still being used in 1989, although that quickly changed afterward, so maybe in later production runs of 6285 there were hollow studs as well. I have a second-hand 6285 with open and closed studs heads, but that's probably because not all heads were originally from 6285.

Yes, and on second thought, whereas this is undersized, that may have been oversized. I think it was on EB, but I can't seem to find it.

I meant to add this. I also think the fantasy element is here to stay. But maybe something like forest men could be the 'fantasy element' for a while. TLG seems to want to strike a balance between what kids and AFOLs like in some recent themes, e.g. including more 'civilian' sets in City and including double-sided torsos and rare colors in Pirates.

That pizza guy is so simple, yet accurate. The colors of those simple plates just make it work instantly. Same for the bins (simple, yet instantly recognizable). The kebab is a little small, although I guess there has to be a time when they end up this small . I've seen a big castle troll's brown club being used as a kebab quite effectively some time ago.

I remember (from peeron I think) that there were some extra basic bricks (2 x 4 and 1 x 3 if I'm correct) in the original BSB, presumably to create one of the alternate models (?). These could be missing from the re-release, just like TLG did not include some of the extra gray arches for alternate models that were in the original Black Falcon's Fortress in the re-release (10039).

This could be a relevant topic, with TLG reviving themes in recent years and subtly or not-so-subtly building on/copying from older sets. I see chances of this being picked up by TLG. I would be fine with any classic (80s/early 90s) faction being revived. I think its time they drop the fantasy element for a while and focus on medieval life and a bit more realistic castles.
