It's an euphemism. You know, as we Victorians say, fancy a bit of 'how's your father?' So do you? -

Why Quinn, you are quite correct. My apologies to you and your father. I have always said you'll go far in this world. And you'll get an A in German Mathematics this year, richtig. How's your father, Harriet? -
Which is better, Star TREK or Star WARS?
Rufus replied to vahkimetru's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well, this is an argument that'll run and run, so perhaps it's better to keep it open. Otherwise it's only a matter of time before someone starts a new one. Someone else might come along and think otherwise, though. I have to agree with Gryphon here. Your point is well made, fallenangel, but if you compare the model space vessels of the original Star Wars Trilogy to the model starships of the 80s Star Trek, there isn't much between them; plus both have their share of poor acting and dubious plot points. And when you bring the SW Prequel Trilogy into the frame, you have to enter shiny silver CG Naboo starships into the equation. The ST model starships certainly get their fair share of battering, which stands out all the more against the otherwise pristine exterior. As to which is better, that's a bit like asking 'which are better - boys or girls? Cats or dogs?' It's a discussion with no answer, but I'm sure everyone will have fun putting their side forward. -

Don't you go putting evil ideas into your son's head. Without my Cambridge-inspired tutelage he would be a certified Oxford (*spit*) wastrel like his father. And I would hardly call my hair unkempt - it is indeed the hairstyle of the most revered Son of all sons: Heretic. -

Settle down, children. Clearly the good Baron's ancestral home is old, and has suffered from subsidence and neglect. I will gladly teach about that in due course. For those of you who are childless, let me introduce myself. I am Ruben Roland, teacher of the good children of Blackwood. As such, you can depend upon me to be patronising and condescending in equal measure. The correct spelling of the creatures we are hunting is, of course, slut, and its plural form cute baby piggies, as our fellow citizen Harriet has nobly pointed out. This being the enlightened age of the late nineteenth century, as good Queen Victoria will attest, I do insist on the most up to date of correct measures for my wayward students. Mis-spellings will therefore be punished by caning, flogging, and ritual humiliation, in accordance with good practice for the best of modern teaching methods. Thank you. -

Me neither. Proxy: Harriet -
Another superb review, mostlytechnic! You've shown off the features really well, and you photography is amazing. I look forward to seeing your next ones! I haven't bought a Technic set for years, but it strikes me the designers have done really well putting lots of working features into even these smaller sets.

Ow!! My broadband hurts! Please resize your pictures. Otherwise, nice! I like the octagonal structure, and the use of cabling and other greebles. Not sure what the Series 1 robot is doing there, though... If you did something similar in black, it would make a nice carbon freeze chamber.

Probably a little late, but I edited your topic title to something a little less vague. Hope you don't mind.

The original two I had from the 8448 Supercar both broke: Lego sent me replacements about a year or two ago. They tried to charge me, then let me have them for free when I whinged I haven't used the new ones though, so I can't say if they have the same problem.

Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum - The Conclusion
Rufus replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Er, yes... Actually I was kinda hoping that was true, because it (presumably) meant Hinck would've won with us. They'll always be Dwaggy and Hinckle now! -

You weren't the only one. When Hinck started driving the votes in different directions (I think when first Arjay got off, then Scouts) I began to wonder if he had a very unusual win condition. My crazy theory was that, as Jesus, he had to gather a number of 'disciples', then prove they were following him by getting them to change their votes, then get himself lynched ('martyred'). It might have been a nice twist! -

Thanks. I shall nurture the air of mystery -
Well, fresh from the Asylum, I've got a hunger for more mafia, so I'd like to play if possible! Do you have a projected start date & duration, JimB?

Not after all the framing Actually, one of the reasons Rick lived as long as he did was because Scouts was next in line for PR, and whoever is PR is a target for scrutiny. Plus me voting for Scouts for PR was one of the few overt sinister allegiances in the game. I tried to make up for this by leaving my vote on Scouts during the Misty vote switcheroo, in case this would become relevant later. I was worried about that PR vote the whole game. A tip for next time, Peanuts - if you want to find out what use your investigative powers are, investigate yourself! That's why we framed you on night four or whenever - we thought you might have realised this. -

I just counted 1033 PMs related to gameplay, and that's not counting ones from def. This compares to 1132 posts in all seven 'day' threads. I dread to think how many Hinck had to deal with! -

Lupo: a confession Firstly, I'd like to say a great big thank you for def for letting a relative mafia-noob play this stunning game, and for hosting it so brilliantly. Everything was superbly executed: the character roles and their development, the player roles which even kept us sinister guessing, the photography (and the photographic investigation which was a lovely touch), Henry's riddles, and the storyline which was intriguing and at times poignant - the slide into insanity of Dr Bloodbrick especially. And you've given us hope of a sequel! Nice photographic zoom at the end there Secondly, I want to apologise profusely for those I've had to deceive - most notably Hinckley and Rick. I know that's what the game is about, but I hate lying to my friends I thoroughly enjoyed the teamwork in the sinister gang- though nearly thwarted on a number of occasions by the Jesus gang's dogged efforts. There was a very nervy couple of hours at the end of the day yesterday! Hinck and Rick again deserve special mention for putting so much effort into trying to track us down - they played a blinding game, and at times it felt to us that they really deserved to win. We were, in my opinion, greatly helped by three pieces of luck. The first, as def has mentioned, was no-one realising that Stash was the insane cop - had they done so, Draggy would have been in real trouble and not the trusted insider. The second was the unexpected success of the framing role - we framed the Chief night One, and Peanuts happened to investigate him; after that it was fairly easy to assume he'd go after the King. The third was Admiral Ron catching Jesus in the act, forcing Hinck to claim his night role. After that we just had to keep blocking him. Those are my thoughts, but you all - my teammates included - may disagree. -
Happy Birthday, Admiral Ron! Don't forget to share any photos you may have of the event

Mkay, it's a pretty strong argument for Timtam and the Professor being sinister. I still have one or two questions about the Professor, but his reaction (if any ) will tell us a lot. So I'm going to vote: Professor Diem.
