Yesterday I took advantage of the Lego VIP special, free shipping and triple VIP points. I was only able to buy a couple of sets, but the parts I am getting are going to help with my Challenge build. I'm really happy that once this order is processed, I'll have over 200 VIP points. My next order should be a doozey.

I forgot to take advantage of this!!!

So many ideas, so little time...

At least I've made an entry to the "Life and Death in Kaliphlin" mini-challenge second category, just some photography work to do as well before Sunday.

I probably won't be able to make an entry for the first category in time for the deadline however, since I'm pretty sure my wife will have me do a lot of decorating the house this weekend

Welcome aboard Nahoj and nstickney!!

Lord Damaximus is really busy travelling with his wife around the world so that's why he kinda silent lately in the Great Hall of Petraea... But as he has to obtain his degree in Excellent Trading in Real Estate at the Petraea University, he will be back in around 2/3 weeks :sweet:

So out of character: sorry mates, but I am dating a really nice girl (and she likes me even she knows Lego is my hobby!!!) so that's why I can't spent so much time on the forums or building. But in 2 weeks, I have to start preparing my exams in January so from that moment on, I will have time again to be active here :classic: Lego is such a nice way to spend study-breaks

Poor las doesn't know what she's getting herself into..

How long will it take before she also takes up the Brick :)

Hey guildies, sorry for taking a step back for a couple of weeks - i've just caught up on a few mocs that still need grading for UP certification. :classic: A couple still need a vote or two (or three!), i'll list them here for ease of tracking them down:

mrcp6d - Retreving blue stinger wings - needs 2 votes (for big tree only)

mrcp6d - Mage's barracks - needs 1 vote (1 against 1x1 walls)

Soccerkid - Nordhiem village - needs 3 votes

Tomsche - AoM storehouse - needs 3 votes (1 against)

Format is builder - title of moc - current status as of this post.

I'm wondering if we should make a weekly "to be graded" post in here for UP stuff, so mocs don't get missed with one vote to go or anything. i'm happy to do this for the next month or two, but maybe we could take it in turns to do this if others are happy to? After all, the quicker stuff gets voted on, the more confidence students will have in the program. :classic:

Oh and welcome to our new members, yay! JVD, i loved your character intro! I look forward to hearing more about Nahoj and how he's settling into life in Kaliphlin.

Sounds like a very good idea, as I think getting the feedback quickly really helps in encouraging builders to continue in the program :classic:

A weekly post like yours here is a great way to point out builds which might have decended in the forum without it's sufficient amount of votes, so that the people here in Kaliphlin eligible to vote doesn't miss them.

It's not that much work so I think you can just throw the question out when it's time and then have someone pick it up for the next month or so.

Here's some "to be graded" Gabe missed.

gedren_y - Visiting Herbologists - needs one vote

Wedge09 - Eddy the farmer's field - needs one vote

Wedge09 - Collecting the pieces - Alexander Vadagant's search - needs one vote

Wedge09 - A ruined aqueduct - needs two votes

mrcp6d - Mitgardian Fishing Trip - needs one vote

To help the people seeking credits, I think both the Claim and Tracking threads should be stickied or at least added to the Story and Challenge Index.

Oh, in sockerkid6's Tracking post his Kaldrfell Castle link needs to be fixed. Google Chrome won't recognize the link.

Ooh thanks gedren for catching those, i must have been pretty tired when i posted last night! Although i'm still a bit confused by what exactly we are voting on in wedge's mocs - i can't see them in the claims thread and (as far as i can see) he hasn't asked for credit in the moc threads either??

Great idea about stickying the claim and tracking threads too - i'm guessing we need to ask Zcerb or rogueang (as history mods) to make this happen?

I can sticky, but I am not sure if it will be accepted. For example, I wanted to put up four separate free build registration threads - one for each guild - and one of the reasons we did not was because we decided we did not want that many stickied items. I am not sure this will fare much better, but I did put it in the starting post for Kaliphlin.

I don't think sticking the thread is a good idea, the number of those threads should be kept at a minimum. But we can keep the thread from descending into forgotten history by ensuring that people keep submitting builds for review at a high rate

Regarding claims I think we should expect that participants post their claims both in the common thread and also state the claims in the MOC thread (preferrably at the end of the first post or in a dedicated post) so that it is easy for the reviewers to see what they should be judging.

Maybe this could help http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88349entry1736796; I post this only here, maybe I should post them in "The University of Petraea's Doctorate of Historica Program" topic too?

Ah ok, no worries. Well at least we have a way to jump to the uni topics if they get shunted - good to know! :classic:

Haha umm... yeah, i'm getting my building skates on as we speak! Such a busy time of the year tho...

Totally agree. The main UP claims thread is the one i'll be watching, anything not on there certainly runs the risk of getting missed.

Yes please! The tracking thread is only for your own progress through the units, the claims thread is to let the reveiwers know what to assess.

Looks like we only had four participants and there are three prizes for Life and Death, this go around. So I will have to put a voting thread together in the next few weeks. Unless those four contestants would not mind an extension of the deadline?

-----

Also, I will not be around from the 12th - 25th, as I am going on honeymoon in Orlando. I doubt there will be any dire issues that come up, but if you PM me during that time you won't get a response!

Great idea to remind people of the UP builds that still need to be reviewed. I have completely fallen behind on those what with the US Thanksgiving holiday, but will try to catch up.

The bad news is: I'm across the country helping take care of father after a car accident (and he was already ill). In addition to the bad health news, it means no building for me, probably until well into January, as I'll be out here quite a bit over the next month. I'll try to stay fairly active on the forums, but between being out here and the holidays, I don't see any time for building.

Which is a major bummer, as I was really looking forward to the challenge, and also bought a PAB cup of 1x2 masonry bricks I was so looking forward to using. I have had a few spare moments on the computer to take advantage of LEGO sales: last week I bought two LotR Pirate Ship Ambush for $60 each, an Epic Dragon Battle and Temple of Light on sale, some heavily discounted Lone Ranger sets, Jabba's Sail Barge, etc… It's been a good November for LEGO sales, and I think my son is going to have a great LEGO Christmas!

Sorry to hear the bad news NM! Looks like a lot of Kali will be out of commission for the month.

I unfortunately may have found more time to build - I tore my ACL two days ago while playing in my local kickball league. So I will sitting a lot... Also happened to ruin the honeymoon. Guess I will sit around in my hotel at Disney World... Now if my bricks weren't upstairs...

Ok, sorry guys i meant to do a UP update last week but i forgot. Oops! Anyway, we are still short on voting for a number of mocs;

mrcp6d - Retreving blue stinger wings - needs 2 votes (for big tree only)

mrcp6d - Mage's barracks - needs 1 vote (1 against 1x1 walls)

Soccerkid - Nordhiem village - needs 2 votes

Tomsche - AoM storehouse - needs 3 votes (1 against)

Gabe - Dragon Card - needs 2 votes

Gideon - Barqua City Gaurd Barracks - needs 2 votes

Gideon - Kaligem Card - needs 1 vote

Wedge - Tower Card - needs 2 votes (1 against)

Penkid - Stalkhead beach - needs 1 vote on waves, minifig posing and oceanside; needs 3 votes on sideways rocks (2 against)

Please let me know if i've missed anything!

It seems that Gideon, gedren and myself are doing the bulk of the voting/assesing, which sadly isn't enough to get people's builds to the 4 votes they need for certification... it would be really cool if another 3 or 4 more Kaliphlin members could chip in and help us out. It doesn't take much time to do and it helps you to look at mocs more critically, which is a skill that helps you to become a better judge of your own creations as well! :classic:

Note: New members, if you haven't checked out the Petraea uni Wiki, all the info you need is here, oh and the registration and tracking threads are on the first page of this thread as well.

NM, i am really sorry to hear about your Dad, btw - i hope he has a speedy recovery with you looking after him. Sad to be away from your bricks as well - no opportunities for a shopping trip where your dad lives? (Being away from my stash always makes me want to hit the toy stores!)

Ow! That's not a fun ligament to tear. :oh: Will you need a reconstruction? Get well soon, and enjoy the extra building time in the meanwhile!
