NiceMarmot Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 You guys are definitely the most family-like guild, I could swear you're all brothers and sisters the way y'all bat off of one another. Thanks. We do seem to get along pretty well. I must admit, if I had more tan bricks I'd quite like a spell in the desert. But I don't know if I can relinquish all the cool monsters and weird stuff in Nocty. You need a few well-timed trips to the PAB wall at your local LEGO store, and you'd be swimming in tan bricks! As for the monsters… well, there are plenty of dark, evil things lurking in deep in our mountains, hidden in the swamps, or in remote desert wastes... Quote
Mike S Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 @Mike S -- did you ever build anything in Adskhan, or place a story there? Do you want to keep it named Adskhan, or free it up for someone else to name? If you're going to use it, no problem, as there are plenty of unnamed towns on the maps, or places for new towns. No, I created Okatowan instead so you can free it up if you want. Aden's Gate will probably need some geography additions/changes mainly a river flowing down out of the northeastern mountains with a waterfall where it empties into the bay which the Zenagi River also empties into. Kai NRG Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Thanks gedren, great work there! I'll try to go through those and see which ones I haven't hit yet. Those zombies had to get their brains to eat from somewhere... They got quite a feast then! ...The other guilds are nowhere near that level of familiarity- I guess it's because you kept your core membership from Book 1, and didn't lose people to other guilds... Or maybe the other way around... we're the most 'family-like' (despite the vast stretches of empty desert!), so we didn't loose people to other guilds and kept our core membership? Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) Thanks. We do seem to get along pretty well. You need a few well-timed trips to the PAB wall at your local LEGO store, and you'd be swimming in tan bricks! As for the monsters… well, there are plenty of dark, evil things lurking in deep in our mountains, hidden in the swamps, or in remote desert wastes... That's quite alright- it's amazing how people from all sorts of different backgrounds can be brought together by something as simple as Lego! Haha, I'm planning on getting some tan bricks ready for the Kaliphlin civil war, but I'm going to stick with Nocty I think- that's where my evil, undead heart lies. Or maybe the other way around... we're the most 'family-like' (despite the vast stretches of empty desert!), so we didn't loose people to other guilds and kept our core membership? This is true, I hadn't thought of it like that! Edited January 30, 2014 by Lord Vladivus Quote

Kai NRG Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Or use MS Paint or a similar program to add a dot to the map. Whats the website? If you're using Windows, it's a program. Do I have to make a MOC for my town? That's the idea, but if you just never get around to it - well... Also, it's preferable that you don't double post (two in a row), just edit your previous one. SkaForHire Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 TUB: If you are on Windows 7 or lower, just look for it under accessories I believe (Sorry, I moved to Windows 8 -- unfortunately). If you are on 8, use the search for paint. Right click the map in your browser, click copy image, then paste it into paint. You will be able to edit from there. As Kai said, you don't have to build there, but it would be good. (:: ducks:: because I have built about every other place except my own town. That is going to change with the Battle of Eastgate coming soon) Quote
Gabe Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Yay, thanks heaps for that gedren, i'll go through that lot today. Or maybe the other way around... we're the most 'family-like' (despite the vast stretches of empty desert!), so we didn't loose people to other guilds and kept our core membership? As a somewhat intermittant contributer here, i have to say that the congenial atmosphere in Kaliphlin does keep me coming back. That and the fact that this guild puts out some of the most interesting builds and storylines, and i don't want to miss anything! Quote

Kai NRG Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 It won't let me paste on paint for somereason. That's odd. Do you mean that the button just isn't working? Try saving the map and opening it with paint and then just putting a dot wherever you need it. Quote
SkaForHire Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Or, you may have to use control C for copy and Control V for paste, sometimes different programs will not let you right click. Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Thought it would be interesting to compare who had highest post count in this thread versus the old one - top seven here are: Gideon 86 NiceMarmot 62 SkaForHire 54 Kai NRG 51 gedren_y 42 Gabe 42 Mike S 36 But in the old thread the top seven are: Damaximus 265 SkaForHire 250 NiceMarmot 234 Mike S 218 Kai NRG 193 robuko 137 Kayne 131 Apparently NM and Ska are the best at keeping their places... actually MK (or MS) and I are the only others who made it into both lists! Of all the other guild members, the only two that have more posts than Gideon on their home guild page are Infernum (130 - ) and kabel (93). Okay, that may not have been particularly relevant - but I found it interesting. Quote

NiceMarmot Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 @Kai -- I think you should be an engineer or statistician! What happened to Damaximus? I think he was going to be away from his bricks for a while, but I thought he was still going to post. Gabe took a big break for a while; that's why he wasn't in the top seven on the old thread, but he's been fairly consistent otherwise. Interesting that Robuko and Kayne made it into the top seven in the old thread, as neither is very chatty, but they've both been around consistently since the beginning, so that's probably why. Gideon is a fairly consistent poster, but just wasn't around early enough to get into the top seven on the old thread. He's a great asset -- consistent posting and lots of great builds! Unlike me -- I'm sporadically chatty, but rarely get time to build. Quote

SkaForHire Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 Kai, I guess this makes you the statistics professor at the university. About DaMax, I am not sure what happened. I am his Facebook friend and he is still alive at least! If I remember correctly, he is still in school and just found a significant other, so I am guessing his time is spread thin! Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) @Kai -- I think you should be an engineer or statistician! ... It's not like I do much work, just copy and paste from the little pop-up. Though scrolling through page after page of GoH topics to get to the old Kali one was a bit of work... Okay, here's a bit of statistics that took more work: (Going by the Free-Build Registration Thread, since after all if builds aren't posted there they won't count anyways. Of course when I say top I mean most, not necessarily best.) Top Free-Builder, Jereonaa, 19 (13 of those are for the AoM) - Mitgardia Second Place, Jodicus, 14 (11 for the AoM) Mitgardia Third, Tomsche, 12 (11 for AoM) Mitgardia Fourth (tie), Kai NRG (Haha yes! Go Kali... er, go me ) 9, Kaliphlin Soccerkid, 9, Mitgardia (aaagain...) Or, if Challenge I entries don't count, I tie with Yooha, who has 8 (yeah, Mitgardia) Basically, Mitgardians pump builds out fastest, especially the newer ones for the AoM. Free-Builders per guild: Kaliphlin ('course we go on top): Top Builder: Kai NRG (9) 5 builders (Gideon, Gabe, Kai NRG, NiceMarmot, qiadris) 14 Builds (we sure need more!) Avalonia: Top Builder: Wedge09 (5) 7 builders (Wedge09, mpoh98, Penkid11, HammerBro33 - what's with the numbers? - de Gothia, -Carson Haupt-, Simon_S - thought he was Nocty?) 19 builds -- I think this part in particular might be out-dated. Seems like some of the Avalonian builders have built more, just not edited them into the Registration Thread.-- Mitgardia (groan): Top Builder: Jeroenaa (19) 13 builders (soccerkid6, Garmadon, SlimShady, Yooha, Janatale, RondalusMaxus, Gunman, Tomsche, Jodocus, kabel, jeroenaa, lenjoyLego89 - interesting how many of those are new!) (Oh, brother, here we go...) 89 builds. Whew. Nocturnus: Top Builder: Legonardo (6) 5 builders (so we aren't loosing! Cool. - The Architect, Captain Flint, Legonardo, Lord Vladivius, Captain Settle) 16 builds (maybe we are) Do note that if you haven't posted your builds (or all your builds) in the Free Build Registration thread, I haven't counted them. Well, that was a fun waste of time... Kaliphlin really needs to hit the gas! Hopefully the Sultans gate will help with that. And to those of you who entered the Life and Death challenge, I think you actually can post those in the Free Build thread, Rogueang seemed to imply that. Kai, I guess this makes you the statistics professor at the university. Well, I guess I really got it now... Edited February 1, 2014 by Kai NRG Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Captain Settle is now a member of Nocty. Other than that, that's some pretty interesting statistics. It just goes to show how a well run Free Build challenge (I'm looking at you Mitgardia!) can affect the number of builds produced! Quote

It just goes to show how a well run Free Build challenge (I'm looking at you Mitgardia!) can affect the number of builds produced! Thanks. Switched it. Definitely surprising. In fact, I'm sure that's not even all of Mitgardia's builds, because Ecc did quite a few, and I think SK hasn't updated his post with his latest. Quote

Mitgardia's strong this time around. Quote
gedren_y Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 About the top posters in the old thread, I started GOH late. As for actual builds, my build time and space is limited because every time I build I have to take out and then re-pack all my Lego. Some of my builds have to be reworked or repurposed, but in the coming month I should have some good things done. Anti-Climax will be in multiple parts, so there could be a Nestlands freebuild explosion once I get the story ironed out. Here's a little teaser about the look of my freebuilds . . . Duplo. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I need to update my post in the registration thread with some of the builds I did before the thread got put up. That should make me the top builder in Nocty! ;) I'd be interested to see if the numbers of challenge builds affected the outcome- after all they don't count towards freebuilds. Quote
