  1. Yeah... I had to order tons of those liftarms, and I did get some in dark gray, but probably not enough... anywho, once they are on there, they aren't coming off without a fight! I think part of the issue is that the base of the house is ALSO built with the liftarms, but since it is 95% covered by the outter walls you can't see it... that does make the towers grayness stick out a bit more than I would like. Well there are lots of little red flowers inside the Avalonian side... kind of like roses... but I didn't want to call it "rose manor" so I modified it a bit to Rossen. Change a letter here and there and maybe you would think you were in the "Dollhouse"
  2. You never know K.K... the next MOCs I plan to do will all feature a story told through a letter written to the King or another Lord like the one here in Rossen Manor and some of the heroes of Avalonia have a good shot at making it into some of those MOCs.
  3. My embassy- Rossen Manor- is now up.
  4. M’Lord Burress, I send you word from Rossen Manor, the Avalonian Embassy at the foothills of the Rakath Mountains in Nocturnus. Yesterday Rossen Manor played host to Andonii, the Chancellor of Avalonia, and his companion, William Harkenshire, the Lord of Panik. They share your concerns and those of our Lord Rex about the growing darkness in Historica. Even here, in the shadow of the mountains in the Eastern darklands, a cloudy gloom grows. The gloom is seemingly the only thing that grows in Nocturnus these days. Though Avalonian plants still sprout inside our estate, anything that touches the Nocturnian soil or air dies and withers instantly. Even the trees and Violet’s vine outside our walls appear more lifeless than usual. My eyes long to see the lush life of the Avalonian hills and rivers once again. I want to feel the sunlight upon my face, and gaze upon the beauty of the Pearl City. I fear the darkness may take this land before I ever have that chance. The Chancellor warned us to increase our garrison at the manor incase our fragile relations with the Nocturnians finally cracks in these dark days. Peace at the manor has been uneasy, but constant. We have not had to ring the warning bell in Rossen Tower for years. It was said the noise from the bell disorients and drives the local minotaur population mad. To prepare for the dark times, we have sent out a call for sharpshooters and a request to Lord Rex for any arms he can spare from the forges of Albion. We now ask you, Lord of Mesodraconem, to send any siege engineers that may be able to help us prepare the defenses for the coming storm. I fear the first rains may fall here, at Rossen Manor, the only ray of sunlight in these black lands. Your friend and ally, Bishop Kronely Click the thumbnails to see all the angles: Click the thumbnails to see some of the finer details: Click the thumbnails to see the vegetation: Click the thumbnails to see the interior: Oh- and I forgot to say it here... credit to Tiberium Blue for the liftarm thing, DC for the roof on the bell tower and de Gothia for the little dragon sign thingy outside the embassy.
  5. As in you were planning on doing something similar, but smaller, or you were planning something more grand? Those gates are made mostly out of technic liftarms. It is a cool technique, but you need like 200 zillion of them to make a structure... and then if you are megablock like me, you cover half the walls up with a wooden fence!
  6. Yeah... I took it in the same place I took the photos for the gatehouse (my garage), and though it doesn't look like winter in Minnesota right now, it certainly felt like it! My hands were too cold to get good photos, so I will try again tomorrow with a little more light, and hopefully, a little more heat!
  7. Yes, I suppose it is more like a guarded manor. I think I have the parts for a Niku fig. I think it could make a MOC before too long.
  8. Thank you Mikey and dG. The pictures aren't quite as I would like them. The "dead" trees didn't photgraph as well as I would liked plus all the shadows are not good enough. I tried to take them in my garage this morning but it was soooooooo cold that I wasn't focused on doing the best I could. Another try and hopefully it will look nice. That stone technique was borrowed from Tiberium Blue. You can look him up on Flickr. Andonii and Volcanicpanik made this MOC. dG, Silver.Smith, Mayday Artist, and Capt. Beerbeard and maybe a few others also have figs that are looking to make a MOC. Mikey, DC, Blackmoor, BrickDoc and Matn have already made a MOC. I plan to use them all if I can! I would like to make rogueang's fig too, not sure if I have all the right parts. I will have to check on that.
  9. The Embassy pics aren't as good as I would like them so I am retaking them tomorrow. A little teaser from the first round of photos though...
  10. Well they never really tell you. I think I got it for the trebuchet and when they front paged the watchtower. I was "Fellowed" a few weeks after that, so I was on a roll. I went from just the MOC tag, two having three more in a the span of about a month. Back on topic... I finished my embassy! It is dark here in MN right now, so no photos yet.
  11. Why are they letting that bum with the lion shield stop em? Punky grain thief!
  12. You got a MOC badge because someone was handing them out like candy... Siercon and Coral got TWO of them! No seriously, it is well deserved. Three cheers for our favorite Swedish dad! HIP HIP HAZZAHHHHH!! HIP HIP HAZZAHHHHH!! HIP HIP HAZZAHHHHH!!
  13. Avalonians never run... we skip... and pick flowers... Seriously- so much venom towards the green guys, I think it is jealousy.
  14. Well EB is already doing a "collaborative" display that is not city (or castle) themed. HOWEVER- I happen to know that I Scream Clone (Nocturnus) and SI-Mocs (Kaliphlin) are planning to attend as am I. That means we could have at least three of the guilds represented right there. Maybe we (or I) could contact them and see if there is some thoughts on doing a mini representation for the guilds! EDIT: I asked SI and ISC about it. I will let you know what I hear back.
  15. I will be there. I know a bunch of people who are going. There is a community forum where you may find some more information or people who are attending. I think there will be a large EB crew there. See if you can go here and see some of the peeps going to BW2012
  16. Those don't look like elves, they look like Jedi. *waves hands in front of everyone's faces* "these are not the elves you are looking for, they can go about their business... move along."
  17. I like the SNOT rocks and the atmosphere on this MOC. Very nice. The pics are a little grainy though. I am guessing it was taken in some low light.
  18. Very nice. I LOVE the dark brown. Good work on the interiors as well. A great enrty!
  19. Welcome Peter! I have always enjoyed your MOCs, so it is good to see you posting one here! You have such a great classic style!
  20. Great job man. We really need to check out the flickr stream, the better pics are in there. Expect this ship to be blogged soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  21. Very nice. Instantly recognizable as Avalonian and a good job of mixing in some good landscaping. It looks like you should crop a couple of those photos to get the background to be all white. I would try a good free program like GIMP!
  22. O M G. You did have one of the top 5 watchtowers. I also initially didn't prefer the watchtower winner, but if you go back and view Gabe's tower it had a very well built interior and many play features all the other MOCs lacked. We had a tower with similar features to Gabe's that I though should have been in the top 5. That tower was rogueang's. I think after seeing it again, DC thought so as well. Because of that DC thought he would go to a voting system on the embassies to avoid these types of feelings and because it is always possible for someone to get overlooked. Rogueang handled himself perfectly throughout and made a GREAT embassy entry as a follow-up. I had seen some positive strides from you on the forum. I witnessed you making good, constructive comments to other builder’s works and I thought that was great. That is how you get somewhere, that is how you make friends, that is how you get recognized. DC even gave you a few titles to recognize your good works. But then you go and make it all about you. This is not this first time you have acted like this on the forum. You seem to have an issue with not feeling validated. I will tell you I think you are a good MOCer, but if you can’t take any critiques or just want everyone to kiss your butt every time you build a MOC, then you are not using the forum for its intended purpose. If you think there are fairness issues, and there is some club you are not in, then tell the history MODs and Admins or private message DC with your concerns. Just stop being a MEGABLOCKHEAD about it here.
  23. Great work! I really love the interiors and how thoughtfully they are laid out. I also like the idea of building the wooden structure after the rest of the structure is already built to fortify it. The wooden fort part is very nicely done! I do think the dark gray and lighter gray mix is a bit distracting on the main building, as is the wooden siding on the main building. The mix just looks a little chaotic to me. I am going to need to use the Green Riders messenger service for sure. Through rain, sleet and snow! Indeed!
  24. What did you say Admiral Croissant? Blog that thing? Okay! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
