REVIEW: The Battle of the Five Armies
ZCerberus replied to ZCerberus's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
After seeing the movie- (you can stop reading if you want to avoid spoilers) I have some more thoughts on this set. It is not a good representation of the movie scene at all. First off there are no Orc ballistas in the battle. Second, the Orcs should be armored like the Uruks in the Helm's deep sets. Third, Thorin and Azog don't even enter Dale, though I realize they would have had to make a completely different set to include them. Thorin isn't wearing his Erebor type armor by the time we reach this scene. He really should have been in the Lonely mountain set with this armor. I continue to believe Bolg would have been more interesting figure than another Azog, but I understand why Azog was in this set as he was. Fourth, Dain... Not only is the mold a bit sorry compared to the movie version (complaints about the all CGI character cut out for now), he has a war hammer and not an axe. He also totally needed to be riding his sweet war pig. Now that would have been a good value add. Fifth, Legolas- ugh, yes, he was in the scene, but this really should have been a good place to put in a generic armored Elf or even an armor Thranduil. If you were going to slap in Legolas, then Bolg really should have been included as well. -

That one certainly has some character to it!! -
I love that you realize the hole is too small. So cute. I read the flickr description too, so tell your lady good work! Keep up the collaborations!

The tavern hopper... drunk Avalonians!

We do need more swamp lands in Nocturnus. I like it. The tree design is very creeps and I like the vegetation bits you added in. I think it would benefit from being bigger, but I know part resources and time might not allow that. Good job.

When I moderator says it, it means something else. It means try to stay on topic a bit more or the thread is in desperate shape and WILL be closed. I wanted some opinions on what the thread has become before deciding what to do with it. I appreciate the input from all those with an opinion on what to do with it. It seems all agree one 2 things" 1. This thread often tends to get away from discussing what is in the title and 2. perhaps it needs a new name to encompass all that is in it. I, however, have no desire to make a "general" LotR topic as that will have so much random stuff in it, I feel no one will ever want to read it as it will be constantly flame wars, trolling, and random questions and thoughts. I also understand people are still passionate about LotR LEGO, so I want to accommodate that as well. We'll see how this goes, but for now, I am accepting "we should close the thread" and "why do you want to close my favorite thread" type comments.

I understand, but with an international audience, that isn't always true. -

Please watch you spelling and punctuation. We expect readable, high quality English here. -
We don't want the topic to be worthless though. If the topic is title "future LotR sets" we want it to contain discussion on future LotR sets so people WANT to read it.
-
Perhaps instead of spending time posting worthless junk in here, we could all build a sweet LotR MOC, or join one of the guilds!
-
The problem is that the topic keeps devolving into other wacky stuff, like does Treebeard win in a fight against the Balrog. Ugh. I can tolerate that on occasion, but if that is ALL we have to talk about, then the thread is truly dead.
-
Umm, yeah... look at the hat. Moderator here. We've been pretty liberal in this thread for off-topic stuff, but the Balrog versus Treebeard thing was even ridiculous by our lax standards. This thread is in great peril of closing unless there is something actually LotR set wise to talk about. I like the Elves angle here. At least it is about a future set that looks LotR-ish.
-
Is this conversation still going on? Balrog wins. Debate over. Is this thread really even needed anymore? Other than discussing Ideas projects, there is nothing to be gained here, is there?

You are not allowed to post in the bazaar because you are a new member. EB is not primarily a place to sell wares, it is a community devoted to the discussion and sharing of LEGO. We do allow established members to occasionally strike a deal, but it is not the primary purpose of EB. If you would like to remain a member here and add to the discussion, that is fine, but if you are only interested in advertising sets for sale, this is not the forum for you. -
We have finalist for 2 of the 3 categories. We're hotly debating whether to add one more finalist. As soon as that is resolved a voting topic will open up.

Still here. Dealing with some personal matters- but I have the next part of and an outline for the rest of the Raavage saga penned. Now a little time to make a build and we'll know even more about what the Spire Lord is planning, where the Dragon Masters are, and how it threatens the whole of Historica! -
Little Boney - Because I have tiny bones. Or because I was doing my best impression of Bonaparte when I made some suggestions on the some view points on our website.

Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes
ZCerberus replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I will definitely be looking for the orc. Awesome figure. The King (cape in particular), wizard, and Cyclops will be a few adds for me too. The Egyptian, cowboy and the lady Samurai are also clearly history- maybe even the snake charmer- 8 of 16 figures have fantasy/history ties. Really nice. -
Lots of fun details. Nice work.

Looks like we are getting some more fresh blood in GoH! Sweet build. Really nice work. -
It probably is, but at least you are up front about what you did. Tell ya what, can you provide the main/first shot without the color editing? We will use that for judging purposes.
