  1. If you read what I wrote, you will see I said you will have one "home guild" and one character that represents you, but for each civil war you could send an "emissary" (read, different character for that conflict) in your place if the side you are on conflicts in some way with your character. No... technically you could help an internal Kaliphlin group take over Kaliphlin... though the members of your team for that conflict may have a lot of Mitgardians on it, no guarantees. Maybe that round the side you are on is the core Kaliphlin builders... maybe it is all Nocturnus builders and you. The fun part here is you can work with people who you have never worked with before! Maybe you are on a team with robuko, Gideon, LD, Eryn, Hersbrucker and kable but you are facing off with dG, Masa, MikeyB, SK6 and Beery. Who knows!
  2. Changing Guilds is a one time shot. Besides, who said the Tag/shield would look anything like the Guild shileds from Book 1?
  3. Yes. I guess your guild COULD try to stay united. Technically speaking at least ONE person from Kaliphlin would be on the opposing side as one of the two story members would lead the opposition.
  4. Some progress on Book II ideas has come together. I want to keep you guys in the loop on the progress! Right now, this is how the Book 2 will go. We believe we will be rebooting the guild threads... this means if you want your character to join a new guild or you want to create a new character in a new guild, you can. This does not mean you can have two characters. If you make a new one in a new guild, that is now your “home guild” from now on, if you move your current character to a new guild, that is your home guild from now on. We will have a "core" guild team that will handle the judging, the maintenance of the threads and help keep the story cohesive. As it turns out, this core team already has regulator powers. Ecc, rogueang, and ZCerberus are the current core members as they are the EB History staff and also represent (or will represent) different guilds in Historcia. I think we will be looking for a fourth member from the guild of Kaliphlin to join the “core” team. This means if you join Kaliphlin as your home guild, you can possibly join the “core team”, though this still isn’t worked out perfectly. After we reboot the threads, this is how things will progress… We will start in Nocturnus, then cycle through each guild as they endure their own “civil war”. Before each civil war chapter begins, two members from that home guild will join the core team to help develop the story for their guild’s conflict. One member will be added through popular vote, much like a prime minister election, the other will be added by having the best entry in a “pop-up” challenge. A pop-up challenge is a build in response to a “rumor” or “decree” posted by the core team. The idea here will be something like “Trade caravans in Kaliphlin have been vanishing in the night” and the Kaliphlinite who builds the best MOC depicting what has or is happening to the caravans will join the story team for that challenge. To be clear, after the civil war in your home guild ends, these two story members will no longer be on the “core team”. I do believe these members will be considered highly for future leadership positions as future chapters unfold. When the civil war begins, members of the home guild will be allowed to choose which side of the civil war they will support. Anyone else who wishes to participate will be randomly assigned a side to support. You can decide if your character is entering the conflict personally, or sending an emissary to take part in the conflict. What I mean is your main character doesn’t have to participate directly if that doesn’t fit with your persona, but you will still “play” your main character in your home guild. There will be trophies and tags for winning in each category, plus it is fun, so I encourage everyone who is able to participate in each civil war if they can, even when it is not in your home guild. I envision the two story members from their guild will lead each of the two conflicting sides after the conflict is set. This also means if you make the story team for your guild and your side is victorious, you are the de facto leader of that guild/side for story purpose. Though the EB Staff (i.e., the core leaders) will still be in charge of titles, tags and contest prizes, the de facto story leader will be important to the lore of Historica! The de facto leader may also have some say in how the side that was not so victorious in the conflict will be treated. We’ll see how well that works out. I could envision some fun to be had there as well! Maybe the de facto leader requires a tribute MOC to his side to rejoin the fold. Again, we’ll see how this works out as we go. Back to the challenges… for your side to win the civil war, you must be judged victorious in at least 2 of the 3 building categories each civil war challenge will have. The three building challenges will always be a pure medium sized (size restrictions TBD depending on build) “build” challenge, a small or vignette challenge and an unlimited size “story” challenge. What the build, vignette and story will be about will be developed with the story team members. These three categories will allow people with various size collections to compete in some way and help their side win a challenge. After the entries have all been submitted, a judging panel consisting of three judges will write a published opinion on which side they believe won each category and why. At the present time, the plan is to have each “core” team member whose home guild is not involved in the conflict be the judging panel. That may evolve as the story goes on. Because we had to start somewhere without too much delay, the civil war in Nocturnus and story has already been set. This means we will circle BACK to Nocturnus last. This means TWO chapters will be set in Nocturnus and Nocturnians will get to choose the side they represent TWICE. A little bonus for joining Nocty. As you may notice, all four of the original guild leaders have been unshackled. This means they can totally participate in Book 2 in anyway they see fit. What do you guys think? Does this sound like a good idea? It will allow for more potential particiapation in the story without creating 212 authors. It also allows people with different sized collections to build, has more transparent judging and will allow people to choose a new guild and also get a chance to build in each guild's style. I think it addresses a lot of the issues Book I had as we learned a lot while working through the process.
  5. Guess it's next time for you Eryn! Well it's August 1st here in the states. Better get those locked and loaded!
  6. Umm, hello? Is this whole page basically FUTURE set discussion? Once again, it belongs in the FUTURE LotR thread. This thread is for the sets we already know about.
  7. It can stay here, I was just curious since it seemed so piratey. If your intent was for it to be historical and not necessarily piratey, so be it.
  8. Interesting looking figure. A little more light could help us pick up all the details. Welcome to Avalonia. Even the Chorians want to be Avalonian!
  9. do you think this would fit in better with the pirates forum?
  10. I don't know LD, Avalonia's BIG helper?
  11. Who said? beery been feeding you non-sense? Or is he just "dead to you"!
  12. Wicked cold indeed. I always thought it would be Zakon who would stick a knife in my back, not our Lord Rex.
  13. Only comment: SK's little brother should join Avalonia.
  14. Commander of the capital? General of the army? Skipping over Trian? Insane. What a cold betrayal.
  15. Again, put FUTURE LotR set discussion in the FUTURE LotR thread.
  16. Thanks for the information. Can I get a bet on the board in Vega? and help you rig it so I can win some cash monies?
  17. While you are correct, leave the moderating to EB staff. Use the "report" button if you see something questionable that the Mods don't know about. The same also applies to those who have said "this thread needs moderation". Mods have lives as well and aren't always aware of misbehavior immediately. Please use the "report" button if the content is objectionable. Everyone has specifically been warned to not talk about the Azog "prototype" described by Sandmirror. It is a dead subject. I have also been informed that Sandmirror may have been the victim of a prank regarding a report from a LEGO representative that Azog would definitely be in a future set. Whether that is true or not, let me set the expectations and give you some reminders now. 1. While a little good-natured ribbing between members (especially friends) is acceptable, name calling is not. 2. This thread was designed to talk about LotR sets that we KNOW about. Speculation about unknown sets should be in the future LotR discussion which is literally the second thread down in the forum right now. 3. If the moderators tell you to move on from a topic, MOVE on. I will lock this thread if more shenanigans continue until a Mod can clean this up. Edit: I now see one of our Mods, Brickdoctor, has told you the same things.
  18. I don't recall seeing your credentials and secondly is this a real world announcement, or some trait that you feel would be important in your character's story?
  19. You are correct. It is neither funny nor appropriate.
  20. They've already been warned. One last time. NO MORE Azog "prototype" discussion. Period. The discipline hammer WILL come out if it is mentioned again. This thread has been reported to the mods and when a regulator has had to report the same thread 3 times in 2 days, this nonsense WILL be addressed. Stop now.
  21. You forgot Zakon lives in a mushroom house.
  22. Notice how LD felt he HAD to mention ZCerberus in his credentials several times or add qualifications to his credentials? Seems clear to me he knows what is what. Sorry LD. You've been served.
  23. Gimp is also my editor of choice. If your build has a lot of white though, a different color background might be better. Try tan, brown or green. When I have had a lot of white I ofter times use green or gray sheetrock or something to cover up the lawn.
  24. Great work with the interior and the hinges. This doesn't look like a Soccerkid build AT ALL
  25. Where are the credentials? Come on people! Trian Burress's (ZCerberus) credentials 1. Competed in all 6 challenges 2. Won 5 challenges for Avalonia 3. Organized the Albion Project 4. Represented the Guilds at BW 2012 5. Won the official Lore of Historica (Challenge VI) 6. Got the guild tags approved and gave list to mods to finally get distributed. 7. Built cool things like this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this. 8. Declined prizes so custom Orcs could go to other Avalonian members. 9. Was the mastermind behind Evilonia (though Mikey, LD and rogue also built for it) 10. Has been secretly running the Guild of Avalonia since slightly after Challenge 3 (Artorius was my puppet!!) *drops microphone and walks off, rap battle completed!!*
