Me too. I recently bought the Indy "The Temple of Doom" set and I'm having fantasies about the tracks being used for a light elevated rail system... I can't justify the cost of even one monorail. A friend of mine has one of the old space ones that he leaves in a box and never uses (he reads EB so if I'm unlucky he'll read this ), and I really want it, but even if he sold it he'd (understandably) ask for more than I want to pay. I'm just to cheap to buy a monorail. I want lots of LEGO, not a few expensive bits that I can admire. Thus I try to ignore expensive classic sets... but the monorails are awfully tempting.

REVIEW: 8258 B Model
Siegfried replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Indeed. The LAs have some advantages, and the pneumatics have some too. Even so, it's more a part limitation than a method limitation. It would be possible to make a new part that would allow infinite pneumatics rotation; afterall many RADARs turn constantly and waveguides have a much more complicated design than a air hose! I can't see TLG making one now though... -
No hate at all. Jealousy sure! But to answer your question, I think it's silly as he might as well of posted a video of a stack of money. No skill or style has gone into his "work". Sure I post MOCs to "show off", but at least my MOCs are a tiny slice of me, and something that I'd like to think only I would make. All this guy has done is buy multiple sets and spread them out. It's not even worthwhile as a review as you can't tell where the base set ends, nor is it even a practical layout. (Disclaimer; I didn't check any other videos.) Sure it's impressive, but personally I'd feel like a wanker if I posted something like that. It'd be just the same if I created a topic showing my Technic collection, my minifig army, or photos of myself and LEGO in various odd poses. But it's just an opinion and there's no need for us to agree. Are you sure this isn't your stunning collection?

You're asking this in the wrong place; this topic is directed to KimT and Friends. Anyway, the answer is obvious; read the Guidelines... You did agree to reading them when you joined afterall.

REVIEW: 8258 B Model
Siegfried replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice! It is a very nice B-Model; the last one that I felt motivated to make (and did) was the 8285 Tow Truck. I might have to try and make a functional version of that trailer. -
Yeah, I agree. I can see four of the trains! But he's done nothing good with it so to me it's just a case of "I have these and I'm showing off."
-
Not odd at all. You just must take care of your things. I have loads of old computer stuff though; a C64, Apple II, BBC B, Amiga... I'll check later, but I recall it's big; around 1.5 GB.
-
Sure! I love the PlayStation and I (still) have (and use) them all! On the subject of demos, I downloaded the Arkham Asylum demo last week, finished it, and boy is it good! Finally there could be a good Batman game!
-
But that's the thing; if everyone has changed then we'll just be creating more problems! I needed to set mine wrong when I first joined and it's been good ever since. Since we've changed servers several times since and I've only needed to change it when the time changes here it seems to be that changing it at my end is a good solution!
-
I finished it that night... but I think I lost most of them. But I'm playing it on my PS3 (I own a 360 as well) so it doesn't matter about the achievement. The gnome one would have been fun though; I found him and carried him around for a while, but I didn't find out the purpose until later. Making a Strider MOC would be interesting. I'm playing Portal now and I'm almost finished that too.
-
Actually it's not easier as you're the only one complaining; there's a chance if we change the time it'll be wrong for a lot more. But I will look into it.
-
I have the same problem from time to time. Countries change DST all the time and it's hard to keep up. I just change the setting until the time makes sense; I'm in Tokyo...
-
Why change now?
-
Something like that. In short, Fellows (normally not staff) pick other Fellows by their own standards and rules, which change depending on the membership. That's all I'm at liberty to say, but I will emphisise that the staff do not pick Fellows and that post number plays little part.
-
Wouldn't it be funny if while you're discussing our thread here, we're just discussing this one there?
-
What makes you think that? On average I'd say there's a new Fellow every 2 months. If it helps, Eilif is a recent addition, and he only joined last year.
-
'cos we haven't got around to making a new tag yet.
-
It's a three seater; driver in the middle, passengers either side and slightly back. It was one of the main goals when Gordon Murray designed it. As for that Saleen, I've seen it and I think it's a ripoff homage.
-
I used to do that to. But then my "just a few" LEGO sets became more, so to save room I put boxes in boxes and I compressed the bags in the spaces. This plan was short lived as it got really messy so the bags went... then I was forced to flatten the boxes...

Please tell me they don't make a McLaren F1. Please? (That is, this one.) ...with a price to match!
-
Yeah, I feel the same way about taking over the world. I've considered doing it a few times, but ultimately it'd just be too much bother. Thus I play RTS games. I'm really really sure though that it's the same thing. I've heard a few... Even so, my dream car is a McLaren F1. Unlike your very nice car, it'll stay a dream though! I love German cars and engines; it's one of the main reasons why the F1 is so good.

Where have all the pirate sets gone in Australia?
Siegfried replied to Melbourne pirate fan '87's topic in LEGO Pirates
I suspect that they aren't going to re-stock until November. They have brought in more LEGO, just no pirates. There's no shelf room for the sets either. <smug mode>I actually expected this and it's why I got the sets in the first day or two of the sale.</smug mode> -

The still haven't restocked them in my local Target. (Glenorchy, Tasmania) I'm not expecting any restocks for a few months. -
M_longer asks the question that has baffled philosophers world-wide; do you like orange cranes? Well at last it's time for the answer. Take a look at his Liebherr LTM 1300 MOC and decide for yourself!

Very nice! I especially love the carrier. I look forward to the "bigger" MOC... I really want to make a LG 1550. I worked with one once and it was very impressive.
